I used to have an iPhone 3GS that I never upgraded past 5.0.something and now I have an iPhone 5C that I won't upgrade past 7.0.something because I found the OS to be functional and to my liking. Also, I've yet to break either phone physically or software wise. My first phone was a Nokia, and then I got a Motorola Razr I think. They weren't bad. That was before texting or mobile Internet came about though. I'm not sure how I could go long without either nowadays.

Sony Ericsson K750i :D
I have had it since 2005 :3 I had to change the battery (only) one month ago and it is still working perfectly :D

iPhone 5S.
First phone I've got brand-new out of the box with a contract.
Before that I only got used phones that broke after a year. Sometimes it didn't even take that long.
Don't need anything else unless this one breaks too, but I doubt that it'll happen anytime soon.

I got an iPhone 3GS as a hand-me-down from my uncle more than three years ago, which I'm still using. As you might expect, it's pretty defunct, so it's really only used for basic phone functionality and music.

Nokia lumia 925. A pretty good phone; if it wasn't for internet explorer crashing every now and then and the lack of apps I would be 100% satisfied with it

Phone history, huh ?
Motorola C168 - for around 2-3 years
Nokia 3110 - for around 2 years
Sony Ericson G502 - used for the longest time, 7 or 8 years. Excellent phone, I still have it cus I only recently changed phone
Nokia Lumia 735 - recently I broke the screen shield in corner :/ (and I only have it for like 2-3 months). 400 PLN for repair (I paid +/-550 PLN for it) but well, the display and touch are not broken at all, it works very well so I'm not going to get it repaired soon (I dont have the monies)

Only the other day did I buy a new phone, I got a Nokia Lumia 435--the cheapest of the range.
I've never been a massive fan of smartphones because I feel like I would rarely have a use for them, but I got it anyway and in time for the Win10 upgrade which along with my laptop may give the phone a purpose to suit.
Also Cortana is hella fun.
Was gonna get an Android phone but recently Google have been disappointing me.

I use an 8 year old Nokia that still works ^^
I only ever use the phone for calls and texts anyway, so as long as this phone lasts, I ain't getting a new one. And before this one, I only ever had one other phone, also a Nokia if memory doesn't fail me.

I'm using a Nexus 6. I also have a Nexus 4, but a small part of the screen doesn't work anymore.

I use a g4 as my daily phone, and my old nexus 4 to try out various new roms (that phone's pretty much unbrickable)
