Shutdown and abandoned aren't quite the same. Abandoned games will typically still be sold and whilst marked as EA it may not be immediately obvious they've been abandoned and left unfinished. You can't loose money buying DIE as it was free and having no serves renders it unplayable (as opposed to broken as feck, which an abandoned game likely is). I think EA was slightly misleading for it anyway (if it was) as being an online, competitive game it would have been in constant development even after it was "finished".

KRZ's case is even worse since it's not an Early Access title because it came out before EA started.

Got a funny feeling we'll still be wondering about it two years from now.
Asked for a refund on it but nope. Got zero interest in it now, same goes for all things episodic :D

Blues and Bullets is good, friend gifted me the first episode so I'll snag the rest when it's done :)

but as far as i know, KRZ is not abandonded, right?. they just need a lot of time. but it will be completed in the end.

Atm is abandoned, they dont even answer questions from people about the last episodes since a long time, and they also had like a self proposed deadline for the next episode and it has been a long time since the deadline is over and still no chapter + answers ... :/ so i don't know .

ok, that makes me worry a little. ^^ i am still kind of confident it will be finished in the end.

i played only the first episode so far. and it was pretty great. i wanted to wait until it's finished. seems, i have to wait a little longer then. ;)

Well, it wasn't cancelled as of August 2nd -> http://www.destructoid.com/kentucky-route-zero-act-4-is-not-canceled--297137.phtml

I own it and just tried it out again recently. I can confirm that it's as broken as on the first day of EA.

Got more than 100h on DayZ. Less updates, smaller updates, major bugs are still there.
They earned a ton of money already. Even with a finished product, they already sold enough copies.
Don't think there is much space for more sales. Especially when H1Z1 turns F2P.
And I thinking about it, because it could've been such a great game.

But the game is still being updated, nonetheless. In no way are those issues a cause for BI to abandon the game. Do you read the fortnightly status reports?
I don't feel the game is receiving less updates, nor do I feel the updates are getting smaller, but that's just me, of course. I feel updates have always been few & far between.
Also, considering that the game will be heading to consoles, there is still a tonne of more room for sales.

You should know that buying an early access you become an IT engineer

Towns - this had a lot of potential to be a very fun city builder.

What are some notable games that have been abandoned in early access? The Stomping Land comes to mind for me
