What if Steam was written in Portuguese? Portuguese has no neutral noun, it's just "ele" (he) or "ela" (she).

The question is ... What is the point of this thread ?

I stopped to think on how that message would be in spanish and my guess would be "El usuario x de steam incluyó este mensaje con su oferta de intercambio", so the gender of the word user superseeded the gender of the person in question and the whole issue is avoided. Having genders for things other than people can be handy sometimes, specially when you can overwrite someone's gender to "hide" it in the sentence and dodge controversy.
Seems to me that the english language is the responsable for this problem and not valve/steam.

This helicopter nonsense is so belittling. It's a way of having fun at the expense of people who are different.
