How would you survive after an apocalyptic situation?

I probably wouldn't, but the first thing I would do is I would try to get my hands on some medication such as antibiotics and painkillers and some disinfectant so I don't die to tetanus or something. I would probably die, but at least not to that. Oh yeah and some clean water cause I don't wanna die to diarrhea either. After that I would store as much food as possible and maybe start a garden.

I wouldn't even make it to the post-apocalypse.

I'd probably either die of starvation/sickness or kill myself, tbh. The former if it's a natural disaster or a virus, the latter if it's a zombie apocalypse or any of the horror/monsters stuff in fiction. ^^;;

Canned food will save the day :P

What I'd do would really depend on the situation at hand. The type of event would change what needs to be done, and factors like, current location, access to supplies, etc. The best I can say though, is end game would generally always be the same (with some exceptions), I'd be working to get together as many people as I can that I know I can trust. Gathering lots of building supplies, and I mean shit tons in moving trucks, then... Finding a good location in the middle of nowhere, with some open fields, surrounded by woods, mountains and a good body of water (lake/river) nearby, all of which isn't easily accessible due to lack of roads, meaning likelihood of anyone ever coming across the area is slim to none unless they decide to wander the woods or something. Then get essential structures built, some nice high, reinforced defensible walls, and hopefully enjoy a simple life in an area where I could hunt, fish, farm, and have plenty of other natural resources to aid in long term survival.

Could go into a lot more detail with everything, but meh. I'd be writing forever. Biggest things that need to be considered in any game plan are... People will always be the biggest threat, and food and gas have a shelf life. Gotta go back to our roots if we wanna survive in those situations.

Pretty sure I would be among the first ones to go down. My best hope is that I would at least make for a good zombie and rack up some kills before some a-hole shoots me through the head.

Survive? What do you mean by "survive"? The whole reason of apocalypse is that nobody survives it! Otherwise it's just a waste of time.

Beeing honest. Having to suck up at the goverment, if that one breaks down. Welllll I have 8 rations of emergency food provisions. Was hiking in an area with no source of additional food, expect berries a couple of years back. No sign of (alive) humans. Expect these other german hikers, I came about.... man we are everywhere...
So yeah I would have some skill buut yah sitting in front of a screen and crafting is muuuch more easier...

Depending on what actually happens first step would be getting some necessary stuff to survive. Maybe try to find some military base near me and get some protective gear, guns, MREs, some camping equipment and clothes. If cars are working - get some kind of military vehicle or an SUV depending on situation (if military might be reason for this apocalypse then getting humvee would be provocative and could lend me more problems). So a pickup SUV or something big and sturdy. Gather fuel for it (either from gas pumps, or if they are out - siphon from cars)

I personally wouldnt want to sit in one place. maybe help out setting up some kind of safe heaven for other survivors if that would be possible (and if there would be that many survivors) ..
But always I come to conclusion that firstly I would go and search for my closest friends and family, if they have survived. Try to build up a team and come up with a plan after that. Putting our knowledge together. Whether to go inland or go to a coast. what transport to keep on using etc.

Edit : damn , and now I want to play some kind of survival game.. Some good suggestions maybe ? Ive played and loved Long Dark, Impact Winter, Distrust, 7 days to die and from zombies Dead Islan, Dead Rising and How to survive a bit.. any good ideas ?

I have games on my backlog for about 4 more years so I can survive that long only.

Let's all pretend to know the answer for a hypothetical scenario with almost no details. :P

If I survive it would most likely be because of luck, I think that would pretty much the same for any normal regular people (not high government people, not super rich or with highly connected people..etc) who survive it, I doubt many of them would survive due to skill, mostly just by being lucky.

when the bombs drop (or whatever it is) i will be in cryo sleep in my vault 69 along with 1000 hot waifus.

I would raid pharmacies to find the pill I have to take all my life. Probably would die when someone else come to same pharmacy for painkillers or something

With my incredible list of (totally real) qualifications, I would find the first group that looks like they'll survive and promptly settle into my status as either side character #6, the protagonist's best friend or plucky comic relief! Doesn't matter if they're heroes, villains or cannibals, everyone loves a good joke and I have to make ends meet!
