I'm cleaning up my email inbox, deleting old shit.
I've got some emails like "Here's your receipt/bill for your Steam purchase"
I was saving them thinking "well, if someday I have a problem, here's a proof I can use when contacting support".
But now I guess they're old and useless.
What do you think?

I always throw them to a folder named 'Steam GoG GG purchases'.

This right here. Can't you create a folder or a tag? Is space an issue? I don't think I've ever deleted non-spam ever.

Space shouldn't be an issue since a standard Steam receipt is ~10KB. Hundreds of them would take up just a few MBs.
Special folder or tag would be the best option.

This is a good idea. Some developers, such as Subsoap, have actually given out bonuses to people who can prove they've bought their games (and not received them in a bundle.)

I have them archived in a special label in GMail too. I don't think you'd ever NEED them (esp. after a year or so) but I did receive a free follow-up game to one I bought via Steam when I forwarded the game company my Steam e-mail (they were only giving out copies to those who bought the previous title from their site, but they accepted the e-mail). The name isn't coming to me atm but I thought that was pretty cool.

I keep them. I mean what if something messed up and one of your games went goodbye, its a longshot for that to happen but ehh they don't take up much room anyways. Just shove them in a separate folder I say.

I save them more so I can keep track of my purchases, even though Steam keeps track of them within the client.

I say you can get rid of 'em.

yeah i personally always save them, and i would suggest you do too, but steam has it on their own records what, when and how you bought a game

Keep the confirmation emails if you're buying something from GOG or whatever. Gmail storage is basically free.

I also keep them. Just label them "Steam receipts" and remove them from inbox and you should be fine.

Save them, just in case something really bad happens.

I never clean my inbox folder so I don't have to worry about it.

I keep records of all online payments. Just dump them in an invoices folder?

Keep them in a separate folder. Same for other receipts.

As someone who works for support for a similar type of service, hold on to every confirmation you get. If something happens down the road and you cannot access it, those are your proof that you paid for it and own it and may be the only thing you can provide that will make a difference between wasted money and getting your item back.

Story time!

I want to hear how it saved your life. Literally? Feasibly something like that could save your butt in a legal battle one day, but I'm interested in your story!

Create a folder just for Steam purchases and gifts received. Then put all your related stuff in the folder. Then smile 'cuz you just started on a path of great organization :)

I don't even bother caring, if my account goes nuts i've always got my retail CD key copies which I can just send photos of. Still, I probably still have every reciept from steam on my email account, since I don't remove any emails at all.

Keep them, just file them away in a separate folder for any online purchases/receipts.
If for whatever reason you need them in the future their all there together.

Why bother anyway? At this day and age mail servers offer pretty much unlimited storage... But yeah, I'd say keep them

If they wanted to deny you service, then you'd be out a lot of games regardless of whether you had receipts or not.
