We just need to come up with a catchy word that everyone will want to use to describe it. Bottom idlers... Bottlers? Bittlers? Then convince devs to use it in their description. Just start a review service for such "bittlers", become famous, then the new tag will get used
Easy!

If you like that types of games, I've played Desktop Cat Cafe, and it's really cute and cozy.

Looks like you have a monster market stall and clean...odd relics. Conversational game mostly it looks like...maybe.

Looks very cozy and cute. And there's a demo!
Reminds me of another game I played but I can't remember which one... might have been a demo during Nextfest at some point.
I'm all for conversational games, as long as the conversation is not handled by AI...

I didn't see this mentioned here, though I admittingly only skimmend through.
Cinnabunny
The Gaymingmag has a short review for it here.

You made me realize I haven't received the Gayming newsletter in weeks. I don't know where it went.
Cinabunny looks really cute and chill. The review says it's a bit grindy but it's kinda part of these types of games really. If the game is relaxing, the grinding just becomes something you go back to without being stressed by it.
Thanks for the rec.

I'm not sure if this will be cozy. Are pokemon battles cozy? But...farming! Anyway, it looks shiny.

But this game about a boat cleaning spills looks cozy. There's a demo.

Wow I hadn't seen that. I guess I'll wait for a bundle then. I mean it's not super expensive but I have enough to play right now, more than enough.
I was looking for smaller games I could play while I wait for my new SSD but this is just way too short.
Comment has been collapsed.
I'm not sure if this has already been posted, but I follow a gamedev YouTuber who worked on this game.
It's a little expensive for an idle game, but it seems like the core is solid.

This is one of my favourite cozy horror games! I've played it twice on console and around half way on steam because I won it here on SG :) I'm still hoping to finish it on steam but I just need life to calm down a bit first.
What's everyone's favourite cozy horror?
Some of my honorable mentions go to cult of the lamb, cozy grove, beacon pines, little misfortune, fran bow and strange horticulture! Speaking of strange horticulture, anyone else excited for Strange antiquities?
Comment has been collapsed.
Oooh yes!! I forgot about Little witch, I played it on game pass. Speaking of witchy games, wytchwood is one that I have wanted to play for ages. I own it and I know I'll love it but for some reason just haven't picked it up yet :P
Year walk is one I'll have to check out, the art style looks similar to Rusty Lake which I also really liked!

Silent Hill 2 ....
lol... jkjk... Dredge is probably my favorite cozy horror as well.

Generally speaking I avoid horror anything as my brain has enough material as it is to come up with nightmares and I don't feel it needs supplementation but I liked Children of Silentown. It's got a quietly spooky vibe that gives it a tense atmosphere but it's a chill P&C with a good story.
Comment has been collapsed.
That is totally fair, brains can be stinky so it's understandable that you don't want to give your brain new ideas to torture you!
That's also why I love cozy horror because most of the times it's just a cozy game with a hint of spooky vibes. Beacon pines and Strange horticulture are two games that fit the criteria the best in my opinion and aren't too long either!
Oh I do love a P&C and I actually own Children of silentown, so I'll have to add it to the list! :)

My brain is like a fungus that feeds on horrific images. Depending on the times, it's more or less easy to air the fungus and get rid of what's lurking in there. That's how I sometimes play games like Evil Within. But most of the time, and these days, I'd rather stick to cozier games.
Spooky, I can handle. Even a few scare jumps. So I'll take the recommendations. I loved Little Miss Fortune so I'm happy for more similar games to play.
Comment has been collapsed.
That sucks but I'm glad its kind of manageable for you. But honestly same, the older I get the less interested I am in gore and horror just for the sake of horror. Evil within 1 & 2 are great though!
Yay, and yes little misfortune is amazing!!

Huh, didn't pass the secret requirements for some reason. Maybe I've won too much? Dunno.
Thanks for putting this nice giveaway out there, anyway. I've added it to my wishlist. Looks fun. :)

Yup, that's the reason for the denial. The rules are pretty lenient otherwise.
I see that you're a big fan of the Glass Masquerade games, so I'll grant you special VIP entry this time :)

Ha ha ha...thanks...yeah, I 100%ed those on both PC and Xbox. :)

Very similar to Glass Masquerade. I did not find the puzzles as engaging, though.

More casual than cozy; I made a giveaway for Jewel Match Twilight. I love match-3 games, and this one adds mahjong solitaire and even some hidden object scenes. To get to the giveaway, solve this nonogram puzzle. Level 1+, ends Friday (May 2nd) at 11:00 UTC.

Yes! The most amazing thing about it, as a parent, is the sleep button that works in every game without crashing it, which is like a miracle of modern science for PC games. (Boring but crucial!) It is the only way I can manage to play PC games as basically a solo parent. With a large backlog of Games Before Kid (TM) the Deck plays basically everything for me.
Great for cozy games in bed.

Haha yeah my sister has basically reverted to mobile games because she can just stop playing whenever the Mommy call sounds, pretty much the same reason I imagine the damn Batman signal goes up every time Bruce Wayne is chilling playing games for 5 mn.
I should get her one of these...

Steam is having an "Indie Assemble" event with some games on sale but it's mostly a showcase for indies, new and old.
Here are some already released I found interesting, which are not on sale but are priced under 7 bucks
Repair this! for those who like to tinker with things and invade customers privacy... for their own good and the good of narrative, of course
My Dream Setup for those who like to day dream about creating their perfect room and don't really have the $$$ to do it.
Upcoming cozies to keep an eye out for
The Vast White, a chill top down-ish snowboard exploration game. It looks really cool and relaxing and about the exploration, which is a nice refreshing change from all the adrenaline-fueled snowboarding games out there
Unpetrified: Echoes of Nature, a narrative driven adventure game about a stone golem creature's quest to restore Nature while exploring and befriending cute little animals.
I'll add more if I find any
Comment has been collapsed.
So many cozies, so little time!
Adding While Waiting to the list because I can (bwahahahaha)

Great finds Fulffy!
The Vast White reminds me a lot of Grand Mountain Adventure which I enjoyed very much. I'll definitely keep an eye out for a Demo release to see how it plays.

Currently playing: cozy games.
I'm sick, and coordination is decidedly on low ebb. Playing some new-to-me games I thought I'd recommend.
Sable: like Assassin's Creed with no stabbing. You climb, wander around and explore. The hover bike makes things feel wide and open, but also quick to get to. You collect objects and fetch quest. It feels both like you want to know what is at the top of something, but also like there's no pressure if you don't feel like it. There are people to talk to, and they tell you interesting tidbits without walls of text. I find most walking simulators a tad dull, but this has just enough that it feels satisfying. You can fast travel to all main features, which is lovely.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/757310/Sable/
Bear and Breakfast: There's a lot of wandering around in this one. But if you ever just wished you could have a game entirely about making your various virtual houses cozy, this might be a good fit for you. Just when you get tired of doing a task, you generally unlock an item that makes it easier. Stardew but for house cozying instead of farming. I like the silly bear jokes.

Now you make me want to play Bear & Breakfast when I had decided to give it away.
I had a key for Sable and gave it away but then decided to give it a go on Gamepass and I enjoyed it. I think it was the monochrome art of the game that was a little daunting for me. I like colorful games.
Get well, friend. I'm sending you healing vibes.
Comment has been collapsed.
Bear and Breakfast feels a bit tedious in the late game, where you just keep upgrading things, but they do have some variety with helpers taking over menial tasks, which helps. And adding new types of attractions and such. Still seeing where it goes. There's some areas I haven't unlocked yet.

There was something intimate and special about the way this story was told. The maker recalls his childhood memories surrounding football and his country's qualification for the World Cup. Even if you're not into sports, you might be able to empathise with the feeling of childhood nostalgia that was so beautifully portrayed in this game... tbh this felt less of a game, more like an interactive autobiography (definitely not a VN). And I loved it, less than 2hrs as well.
My fav 5 seconds of this game, was when our character is seated at his desk during a class, ignoring the background chatter/lecture...and zoning out outside the window looking at the birds or something. Relatable :D
I would recommend playing this game, just to re-live those lost 5 seconds of hope and wonder.

Once I finish an SG game for the month, I look for something neglected to play, either an older Steam game from the heyday of $1 Humble Bundles, or something on GOG or Epic. This one comes from the cheap huge itch.io bundles, specifically Ukraine relief, so others here might have it as well, but it's also on Steam.
Button City is a mellow game with a fairly linear story of some kids playing arcade games, leading into a save-the-arcade story line. It's charming, some arcade mini games you can play once you're a smidge into it, though the walking speed is a bit laid back for me. Bright colors, charming animal kids. Music is ignorable and kind of dorky early 90s short, feels like it fits the style. My kid (serious gamer, aged 11) loved it. Solo game about probably 6 to 10 hours.

Did anyone play Cattle Country yet?
I'm somewhat addicted to it atm, already clocked in ~20 hours. The dev is so cool and actually talks a lot to people in the Steam Discussions.

Yes, there was indeed a demo. I don't think it's available anymore, though.
The game itself is pretty cheap, though. It's currently available at 15% off. If you loved Stardew Valley, you'll feel right at home. :)

I haven't played the game, but I saw that it is currently free on Epic. While trying to find out if it was something I would be interested in, I watched this review (no affiliation, just a random review I chose to watch because it was short) and it looks like a nice cozy game :)

Lots of cool showcases this weekend with lots of cozies and demos
First, a free to play game because who doesn't want free cozies??
Dot's Home, a narrative game about a young Black woman in Detroit living in her grandmother’s beloved home, as she travels through time to relive key moments in her family’s history.
A few I have bookmarked from Black Voices in Gaming, the Green Games showcase, IGNLive
I'm hoping for more from the Female-led Games showcase, the Latin American Games Showcase and the Southeast Asian Games Showcase tomorrow but they don't have pages yet so we'll see.
More coming next week from the Wholesome Direct 2025 event (yay!) and Nextfest!!!

lmao When I was creating the post I was wondering if people would start hating me for their wishlist inflation.
I'd rather make giveaways out of these great games but alas...
It would be cool if there were cozy bundles. It feels most bundles are avoiding those on purpose sometimes.

Welcome to the Cozy Zone, the corner of SG dedicated to sharing and discussing cozy games. Get yourself a blanket, some hot chocolate or herbal tea, get comfy in your chair and enjoy the good vibes and the good gibs too.
I'm certain most of you are familiar with the concept of "cozy gaming/games" by now, but to avoid any confusion here are some excerpts I stole from articles written by people who are better with words than me, which should give you the idea:
Links: 1 2 3 4
With that out of the way and skipping the whole "in these hard times we all need more cozy time in our lives" preamble (heh), let's get straight to what the Cozy Zone is
supposed to beabout:❣ My giveaways of cozy games. To be honest (at first) I just needed a place for my next gibs, as it so happened that I was in possession of some amount of keys for this particular type of games, but instead of going with just another one-time train I decided to make it an ongoing thread. So
for nowthe plan is to do GAs for this thread with games of the cozy kind on a somewhat regular basis.✽ Your giveaways of cozy games. Everyone is welcome to join me in making GAs for games that fit the theme. No strict guidelines, use your own discretion when deciding if the game is good for this thread. In general, fitting games usually have one or more of these tags on Steam: Relaxing / Family Friendly / Cozy / Wholesome / Cute / Comedy; and here are some tags that these games usually don't include: Violent / Gore / Survival / Psychological Horror / Hentai / Dark / War / Military / Dystopian (these are just some examples of some of the most popular tags). In any case, if a game seems cozy enough to you, feel free to give it away. Just make your GAs private (aka invite-only).
Special Cats tag exception: as a result of the FCDSCGC-2023 event, cats were proclaimed the mascot animal of our thread and thus any game that has a 'Cats' tag on Steam is allowed to be given away here, whether it's cozy or not.
Every active giveaway will be featured in the OP (if I'm around at the time it's running).
☯ General discussion of cozy games. Random cozy games discoveries, thoughts on latest games you've played, discounts alerts and everything else related to games of the cozy kind.
◒ Recommendations for cozy games. Do share your favorite games, well known or not. Hidden gems are especially welcome though, cause many niche games often go largely unnoticed.
✧ Cozy events. So, events have become a semi-regular occurrence in our thread, and I'm looking to make them an integral part of the Cozy Zone experience moving forward. If you want to host an event in the thread which requires some coordination or have an idea for a future event, please contact me on Steam; otherwise, feel free to post your cozy trains, celebratory GAs, puzzles and whatnot at any time. You can also contribute by either partially or fully sponsoring the prize pool and/or by donating cozy games for events (as I might struggle to fully cover these prize/GAs-wise on my own, so some help is always appreciated; again, contact me for this).
If you wish to just bump the thread, feel free to so, but keep in mind that the recommended way to bump is the cozy way, which is achieved by posting:
♦ pics of your adorable pets ♦ pics of your cozy gaming space ♦ pics of anything cozy or cute ♦ light-hearted memes ♦ links to relaxing music (make sure to check out our own cozy playlist ♫ too) ♦
One rule in this thread: good vibes only, so please let's make it comfy for everyone and keep the negativity to the minimum.
❦ Active giveaways ❦
from Ellendyl ⇝ Euro Truck Simulator 2 (lvl 2+)
❀ from s4k1s ⇝ 4 games cozy Cakeday train (lvl 1-2+) ❀
⋗ Current streak of consecutive days with at least one GA running has been going since: January 15, 2023 (approximately)
Previous giveaways and events: ⟲
