Call of Nooby - Black Docks 2 is dead. CoD 4 are more active players...

CoD never lasts long on PC, but it's doing great on consoles.

every CoD title that came out after MW2 isnt worth buying it
copy paste in every title, nothing really new, screaming kids all over the place...just google and you will see why the game is broken in every single way

You realize steam statistics are not accurate representations of how much a game is played right? It just shows how much a game is played on steam at that moment... but there's a lot of people out there who buy retail copies from the store... those guys won't get to be tracked by steam... this is something logical a 10 year old would figure out lol.
As for your question ... I'm gonna answer. Black Ops 2 is decent enough. Far better than MW3 which is total shit and better than Ghosts. However... I advise getting COD4:MW or COD:MW2... those games are way more fun and are even more played than Black Ops 2 or any other recent COD title. But Black Ops 2 is not bad if you want something fast, dumb, and fun... tho there's a lot of camping in that game. Not so much in COD4.
Comment has been collapsed.
More like 10000-20000.
COD4 was not steamworks. The steam statistics, obviously, do not count the non-steam players. Which are quite a lot.
It is the second most played game tracked by Xfire, btw.

That depends on the time you play.
I often had about 6000 Players or less, when I was playing at 2pm.
The best of the game is the Zombie-Mode, the Multiplayer is not very good. Many campers, Lag-Compensation, and so on.
I played it 54 hours. The half of this hours were played with my friend in the bot-mode.
If you want to play zombie-mode, the season-pass is worth its money. The maps are not very good, thats my opinion.

I used to play Blacklight: Retribution which has maybe 1500 active players at best and there were people to play with almost any time of the day, except for maybe 4 AM.
Having "only" 6000 players shouldn't be a problem, I think? But then again, I have no idea how many of those are European players and how exactly matchmaking works. (There is no matchmaking in Blacklight.)
I'm not interested in zombies.

I often had problems with matchmaking. There isn't a server-browser. You get in a lobby and then other players can join or leave at any time. If you dont like the map, you have to leave...
There were many times, where I was waiting about 5 minutes to play...

Full of cheaters and everybody turned to the next cod, as usual.
Comment has been collapsed.
Well, actually it is, but give it some time and it will become pretty crowded with cheaters. It happened every time.
Comment has been collapsed.
I found 4 cheaters in 50 hours. Every cod gets an awful amount of cheaters after some months and BO2 does no exception. MW3 became unplayable when BO2 came out, the same will goes for BO2.

TAC . Treyach Anti Cheat is the best anti cheat ever made. there are next to NO CHEATERS, as soon as you "draw" extra pixel's on the screen your done, as soon as it detects abnormal aiming angles (aimbot) you are done. there are FUCK all cheaters in the game. just noobs who get owned by better players and cry hacks

I would recommend to get Black Ops 1. It's my favorite CoD because of great maps and balanced weapons. Servers getting a bit empty, tho.
Black Ops 2 has more than enough players but looking for ranked matches does take some time. Concerning the DLCs: I don't have any and I played 154 hours plus some zombie and never felt the need to get new maps. Either of the games above is fine and I don't think it's gonna be completely empty in 2 years. It's CoD after all, many people purchase older games (when I play Black Ops 1 I see 50% or more below the 1st prestige).

I'm also leaning towards Treyarch much more than Infinity Ward. I hear BO1 is the most balanced CoD game to date.
But still, now I'm in a dilemma between BO2 and MW1. I really enjoyed playing BO2 with my friends (7 of us in the same room), but everyone online says MW1 is the best CoD by far. The fact that it has dedicated servers is also a huge plus.
I don't know what to choose. ^^
Comment has been collapsed.
I still play MW1 and there are always dozens of servers to choose from with over 10 players. Many of the servers are modded versions of the game too which is interesting.
Comment has been collapsed.
+1 MW1 is by far one of the best CoD games.
I still keep playing at least once a week.
Comment has been collapsed.
Well, MW1 is full of hackers. Wallhack, aimbot, instant prestige hack etc. But it is still possible to get decent servers with a bit of luck! Gameplaywise it's okayish. The grenades are very deadly and with a perk you can take 3 with you. This plus quickscope and noobtube kinda ruined the game for me, but Black Ops 2 has other problems like instakill shotguns, secondaries which are stronger than primaries and so on. I guess it depends what annoys you less^^

I own the game, and yeah zombies is pretty much dead.
Multiplayer sucks, and nobody's on unless it's Team Deathmatch, which is the least strategical and most stupid game in the playlist.
It's still possible to get a game though, so it's not really quite dead yet.

Can you clarify "multiplayer sucks"?
I find it hard to believe that "nobody's on" when there's 12000 players according to Steam. What are they all doing if they're not playing? Sitting idly in menu?
(The tone of my post probably sounds hostile, but I assure you it's not.)
Comment has been collapsed.
Well by "nobody's on" I only meant certain gamemodes - for example trying to find a match in zombies is pretty hard, and niche gamemodes like "sticks and stones" or "hardpoint" tend to have less players/a harder time finding games. I didn't mean that nobody is playing the game online - there are plenty - it's just that matchmaking sucks and I'd honestly, truly prefer a server browser.
By "multiplayer sucks" I'll have a small rant.
<rant>
Hit detection is pretty awful - I've killed people by shooting an SMG aimed behind them the entire time, and when I get one-shot killed by a shotgun the killcam never seems to really match up with anyhting, due to some badly written lag compensation. There's a lack of any sort of spawn protection, which means that on smaller maps, especially Nuketown, you will get spawnkilled over and over again with air support scorestreaks. This is less prevalent on larger maps, however. There is practically no incentive to actually use your own loadouts, because most of the guns are locked at first to any new player, and the preset loadouts already have some of the higher-tier weapons, which kind of makes that pointless. In Team Deathmatch, you spawn all over the place, which never really establishes too much of a "home base" to attack from, or a direction to be heading - one minute you and your entire team will be pushing one direction, then you'll die, spawn, run forward, and you'll come head-on with your own team, and the opposing team is now spawning on the other side. Unlike in other games such as TF2 or CS:S, the player models all look about the same, so the only way to know that you're shooting at an enemy is either A) the red dot on your map or B) the fact that they DON'T have a green name above them. The only other problem I have with the game is that all of the guns feel like toys, and they're unengaging and laser-pointer-ish to the point that the game feels like clicking on people, and not actually firing guns. This gets even worse due to certain attachments/scorestreaks, which simplify the game and dumb it down to the point where YOU ARE LITERALLY CLICKING ON RED SQUARES/HEXAGONS TO WIN THE GAME.

Personally, I wouldn't spend money on a PC game that doesn't support servers and relies on matchmaking instead.

Black Ops 2 is pretty much dead on PC.I don't think it's worth the money,However MW1 has much more people playing atm,You find less than 600 players that have it on steam, more than 10k however don't,I'd Recommend you get that, unless you're into very good graphics.
Black Ops 2 is pretty much worthless on PC.Multiplayer is all Team Deathmatch,Zombies is dead.
I would suggest you get it for the Zombies, its alot of fun with friends, but since you're not intrested in that, don't get the game.
That's my opinion.

I recently have been playing the MP and it can range from 2000 players to 10000 players.

Try answering to op's question maybe?
Played it today, found match without issues. It's not worth full price now. But when it was released it was. If you can get it cheap, do it. For me it's a great game and is still playable. I don't know about DLCs, don't have any.

Yeah, I don't know why people keep saying it's dead when there are 12000 players. It may not be much for CoD game, but like I said earlier, Blacklight has 1500 players and I can always find games to play.
If I decide to get BO2, I'll probably buy it using TF2 keys, that way I can get it for about $30 compared to €60 on Steam.

It is dead. You can barely play anything more than Team Deathmatch.
Buy Black Ops 1 or Modern Warfare 1 instead. BO2 is shit.

i have never seen more than 20k players on black ops 2 and now well u can only find 15k players on weekends game is still fun zombie mode is awesome but game is more interesting with season pass for zombie mode but i wish i had a console for this game but for PC cod doesnt live doesnt live at all.

Tbh, BO2 is almost dead, and the servers are shit now.

I have no problem finding games when I play with my friends. Hardcore doesn't have that much players which is a pity, I like playing HC but softcore has good amount of players, and like people say, zombies doesn't have that much players so you'd better have few friends with you there, especially in DLC maps, there is about 50 players in alcatraz island and 10 of those are good hosts and when you get to a game with one of them, he goes down and ragequits. Still, if you can get it cheap I would recommend getting it, unless you don't like people who run around with SMGs (any SMG, especially in HC, so annoying), camp in corners or are annoying in other ways.

Black Ops 2 multiplayer always had bugs. Not in terms of gameplay, but certainly with matchmaking. Sometimes it would load the map and then send you back to the main menu saying could not connect. Sometimes it would even do this while you were playing. I personally had a random crash to desktop that occasionally happened. The multiplayer was fun, but I've only managed to put ~100 hours into it because of those bugs. I can safely say that it's better than my experience with Ghosts.

I will give you my perspective. Given it 63 hours, black ops 2 has yet to give me an issue. Not had a problem with matchmaing as of yet, except with S&D sometimes. I recommend getting it if that;s the one you really want. Quite enjoyable, but if you want quality , get MW1/2 as stated. You won't even get a problem, just ignore steam stats. Almost 1200 players are seen minimum on MW2 to this date. If you really want BO2, get it, you won't get much problems

I've tried asking on Steam discussion boards but they seem to be almost dead.
Steam player statistics show around 12000 active players. Can someone who actively plays give me more detailed info? Preferably if you're from Europe.
I've heard matchmaking can be problematic. Is that true? Is the game worth it without season pass? Do you think online multiplayer will live for another 1 or 2 years?
I'm considering buying the game, but given its price, I'm trying to be careful and research it first.
And please try not to flame. If you don't like CoD, please don't post.
Thanks.
