I have my favorite games (they are on the top of my list), but I would actually go for indie games on Steam :)

Depends on the dev/game.

I will buy an indie over CoD/any sports game, I will buy an AAA I like (TES, BL, some others such as VALVe games) over most strategy/3rd person indies.

Usually "AAA" games are not good as the indie ones, but there are exceptions.
Price aside, I can tell that most of the masterpieces I played in the last few years are indies.

Indie games/bundles - for obvious economic reasons. Besides, even old(er) AAA TITLES they might have can be quite fantastic. :)

good games, just that...
no one should care if the game is AAA or indie. if the game is good, and you enjoy it, why would you care?

Good. AAA quality at an indie price is the best.

Indie games usually have better gameplay.

AAA vs indie it's like quality(not always) vs creativity.

I play and love both but here lately I'd say Indie games are better. This years batch of Triple A titles leaves a lot to be desired in the innovation and originality department.

Says the man who got himself addicted to this. Admit it Riker, you're a sucker for simplistic alien puzzles of the "brainwashingly addictive" variety...

Many indiegames are on par with AAA games, if not better then some but at the same time usually 10 times cheaper

In terms of fun I can agree they're on par. In terms of production values, nowhere near. Sometimes the AAA titles are fun just for getting a dose of some eye candy.

I usually buy AAA games when they drop to $5 or less. If you count Telltale games as indie, then I often pay for indie more than I pay for AAA. If you don't, well, I think I still pay more for indie over the long run.

Depends on the game[s].

There are crap indie titles, just as there are crap 'AAA' titles. There are also outstanding examples of both.

I'd never spend $60 on a single game though, full stop.

Indie are better. They are like art while AAA often is just shit.

The real question is, is there a real difference?

I buy games because I like them or they seem fun and are on sale (how do I know if I like them? let's just say piracy can have good sides for games that don't have a demo...)
I never, ever, look at the fact if a game is AAA or indie since I simply don't mind who made the game as long as it's a good game.

You go to a jewellery shop looking for a ring. On the display, 20 identical, shiny, expensive diamond rings are sitting there glowing. You look around for a while, and find an old ring, with a gemstone, that's pretty cheap in contrast to the shiny ones. You get it, knowing in your heart that it's unique, and much better than the other ones. It cost you $200, and when you get it appraised, you find out it's a rare gemstone and it's worth much much more. Ya get what I'm sayin'?

The best indie games I've played are more fun than the best AAA games I've played, if I only have a moment to play. If I want a good story and atmosphere, my favorite AAA games win. If I want an addictive game, either direction can win.

(I'm thinking of Super Meat Boy versus Deus Ex. Dredmor and Civilization are both addictive.)
