Of course they did. Sony is getting major greedy. That game was set to go down in price, not up. It went up $10 on Steam. For me it shows $59.99 when it should show $49.99. It was 39.99 for a month while it was on sale.
I don't support publishers that wear their greed on their sleeve.

I think it's time to accept that games, like everything else, are subject to inflation.
Gas and food are already more expensive, so they will force us to spend more for production costs, too.
Digital no longer has any advantage over physical console copies, they are equalizing the price. Which is a shame.
I wish we could see the actual sales figures - are they gambling on less sales at higher price being more profitable? Or are people really willing to pay full price en masse?
I miss 2015 Steam.

It's not inflation though, it's just corporate greed. Even if it was inflation, it'd warrant a 15% price increase at MAX, the prices are being doubled or tripled for poor countries which can't afford it.

game is old, already published, so even if they wont increase price, they earning.
So its greediness.
I understand with new games, cause u need to pay more for electricity, for workers etc.
But with very old one?

Seems like they are taking the best shortcut to piracy. :D

Is this a new tendency? Just found out that the price of Disciples: Liberation has been doubled for Russia. These publishers really, really don't want us to acquire their games by legal means.
As for HZD, I bought it on release when it costed 930 rubles (they'd actually set a regional price recommended by Valve). Literally the next day the price skyrocketed, but apparently that wasn't enough (now it's 3000 rubles).

The best choice would probably be to skip the first game if you haven't played it already. If you go by AAA game standards, the story will be standalone enough, have improved UI / controls / movements / graphics / QOL aspects (hopefully), that it really doesn't matter if you've played any prequels.
