Can't you just add a random phone number or your land line's? I never added my real name where they asked for it and even deleted that fake name right after. The task stays fulfilled nonetheless.

Add a phone number you don't need a smartphone... you need a phone which can accept sms :D Aka most phones :D

Yep, what ArcticChewy said. I added my mobile's number (which is not a smartphone) weeks ago for security reasons and the mobile-app thing is my last task to be completed (probably never will be).

What is a data/texting plan? No idea if I have that. I am able to send SMS with my phone. In fact it's pretty up to date, except it doesn't have a touchscreen. I simply hate those. I need the feeling of having pushed a button. They never do what I want anyways.

Hmm, we appear to use different terms. Texting and SMS are the same thing (as far as I know), so a texting plan is a monthly fee to be able to send/receive text (SMS) messages. With some plans, you pay for each text sent and/or received. A data plan is a monthly fee to access the web, with a monthly usage quota (in GB).

The task is to use 2-factor authentication through the mobile app. You can skip that task and do all the others to get the badge if you wish.

You have to open Steam Guard sub-menu and change the setting to "get codes on my phone".

Every other service I've used that wanted a phone number for two-factor authentication was willing to just robo-call me with a verification code. I guess people who don't want texts from Valve or who still use landlines are SOL for this.

Anyone know if this has been fixed yet? I tried getting this a few months ago but about 4 of them didn't work, I even tried repeating some of them and still wouldn't work :/

Did we get 300xp, since the previous badge was 200xp. Or did we get 500xp ontop of the 200xp we already had? Just curious, I don't remember how much XP I required to level.

From what I understand, it's 500 XP available in total Bongo. So yes you'd receive 300 extra if you already had the 200 from before.

The add phone thingy doesn't work for me, is not the first time that steam asks me for my phone number, and every time I'm left waiting for a SMS that never comes.

When you fill out the phone number, remove the space between area code. ex +9999 85 remove space to make +999985

For me as well, it was 27. They must have changed it afterwards. When I did it (which was shortly after it went live, it said 27 out of 28. After I noticed the thread and checked it again, this task was there: "Use the Steam Mobile App for two-factor authentication"
I swear it wasn't there before since I only had "View a broadcast" left as the only task I didn't do.
