My dad's a site reliability engineer at Adobe. Basically, you only have to keep a service up for a certain percentage of the time, getting 100% uptime, even if possible, would waste resources. Gaining a few minutes up, but working on the solution for a month isn't realistic.
And that is why stuff goes down even though people are supposed to fix it.

While 100% uptime might be unreasonable to expect, the amount of downtime that the steam servers suffer from is just not acceptable.

Right when I need something to distract me from having ReCore on my system but no ability to play it (yet) thanks to being in the wrong part of the world.
The FH3 link right below it is even more depressing...although at least part of the world isn't playing that yet.
