I once got 13mb/s down... on a 2.4mb connection :)

and thanks for the hidden Skyrim giveaway!

Nope, just nope :P

And yeah, the current rate is calculated by the size downloaded / time. So if the time thing stucks a bit (happens, when Steam doesn't respond for a moment), you'll get a higher download rate ;)

The peak download rate is still raw rate, and not calculated in any other way.

Cool story, bro. How much size did this thread add to your e-peen, OP??

99 points out of 100 on my personal obnoxious e-peen Scale... who can beat that?

Not really that high, depending on where you're from of course. The guys over at Scandinavia have 20-50 mb/s on Steam regularly.

20mb/s is 160 megabytes per second. Nice. I'm only up to 100 megabits/12.5 megabytes.

Did you reply to me or ricards009? Steam measures downloads in megabytes per second. I'm never sure what people on the internet mean when they write mb/s because oftentimes they just can't be bothered capitalizing the B. So I'm not sure what ricards meant when he said 20-50 mb/s. Knowing that some Scandinavians have some bitchin' fiber, I gave him the benefit of the doubt and went with MB/s. Sorry if I was wrong.

Yeah, but 1 byte = 8 bit, so 20 megabits per second != 160 megabytes per second...

You wrote: "20mb/s is 160 megabytes per second."
It has to be: "20mb/s is 160 megabits per second."

Yeah, sorry about not making it more obvious with the capital B. I meant MegaBytes, not Bits, either way 20 MegaBytes = 160 MegaBits. Basicly, when you check speed on speedtest.net, it shows MegaBits, so they'd see it in hundreds there, while Steam does in fact use Bytes and would only show 20-50, as I said.

I believe it is possible for regular people to get 500 Megabit to 1 Gigabit connections there. Where I come from - Latvia, which is somewhat close to Scandinavia, we pretty much have a minimum of 100 Mbit in the bigger cities, and it does in fact deliver both 100 Mb up and 100 Mb down, not put together or whatnot.
