I would actually start buying shows and movies.

Great, bloat. Steam doesn't need music capabilities. Wouldn't buy music from Steam either.

Nobody buys music these days. From anywhere. Except Itunes idiots.

Call idiots the ones that supports the artists is a bit rude, just sayin'

you support the artists far more through direct donations as opposed to feeding the parasites that are the record labels.

Or going to concerts.

Music sales are only 6% of the average musician's income. Only the nowadays useless labels suffer from not buying music.

When you buy music, you are not really supporting the artists. If you want to support the artists, you attend their concerts and buy their merchandise.

Bandcamp is the only good online music store. Shame their selection isn't that great. They lack the audiophile option though (24-bit/96KHz or better), but at least they let you choose the file format.

I really hope these game sharing, music, and video rumours are all false, I use steam for games that I pay for, not any of these other things.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

They won´t force you to use that stuff. And be against game sharing is like, selfish, only because you can´t/want use that feature, it´s a great idea. I have 2 brothers and some nephew, It would be great if I can share some games with them.

Hopefully it also gets an email client soon.

It's good if they are expanding but I prefer if they are having separate client for each service e.g. Steam Music/Video Client like iTunes etc...we had enough bloat with main Steam gaming client.

Permalink

So you want to run two such clients at the same time if you want to do both?

If I could play my music in Steam, and use fewer resources than I do when I game with Winamp playing, I'm all for it

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

yeah, theres no way this would use less memory than a basic winamp installation.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

yes, cause the 20-30 mb winamp uses do matter so much...

That's dependent on the size of your music library, if you want to get upset about it.

Would be awesome, Gabe as pilot! Then we'd have Steam Airlines Summer Sales, 75% off a ticket to insert destination here

I could actually get on board with this and would pay a modest fee if necessary (something on the order of $5 per month perhaps).

I'd be happy just with a music player that runs in the steam overlay and plays music from your hard drive.

Permalink

That could be exactly what it is, rather then a store interface.

One that also collects the music you buy as DLC from the steam store. That would be awesome.

Otherwise, I'm sticking to foobar.
