The suggestion of the game depends on the type in my opinion:

• XCom is a great tactical game
• Guacamelee is great plaform
• Back to the Future - adventure

You have many great games on this list. I won't repeat popular titles which already has been suggested like Dust: An Elysian Tale ;D, but instead I'll recommend you a hidden gem: Trash TV. It's a really short (1.5 - 2h) indie puzzle game, which I won on SG. It's visible that the dev put a lot of love into their creation and it's an incredibly well polished title with good puzzle design. The only con for me was the length - I wanted much more after beating it!

Party Hard is epic! and Ive wanted to play Armello! So Im recommending these two!

Give Mafia II a shot! Great story, detailed world and even decent graphics compared to today's standard. It's pretty much the godfather to GTA V. It's really amazing how great this game is today. Also it's only like 12 hours.
