Tried first puzzle with totally correct solution and correct 6 out of 7 pairings. But "sugar spice". Didn't even think about it, seems very strange to me.
I thought about fish tackle

Thought about fish and tackle too although I eliminated it because the other were more obvious and "fishing tackle" would be a better pairing. Still, yin and day could have been paired, or gin and pepper, which is a classic gin cocktail pairing. Guess we're all different.

Oh. I didn't go by the pin on the scale, just if it went to +4 I typed D, etc. I kinda wondered what to do with the -weight I got. That makes so much sense now... Explained why there were 26 pins too... OMG...
Also, isn't "thunder and lightning" a nice pair? (If not, DAMN YOU, DAVID BOWIE!)
And I've mainly heard "cookies and milk" instead of "milk and cookies", but I guess that can vary.

Ah.. you lost me at "milk and cookies".. I had "coffee and cookies", don't think I would get the wrong one without hints (non-US) so at least you gave a second chance. Only entered last one. didn't win

Well I was really close on the balance puzzle. I had the pairings (and more), the weight substractions and the alphabetical conversion. What threw me was I was counting the resting position of the balance as one tick so my letters were almost always off by one. Stoopid brain.
I realized I never posted any flavor suggestions for ice cream. My favorite gelato from a local gelateria is Gorgonzola and Pear. Cheese sounds like an odd idea but it's amazing and I'm the one who always goes for the weird flavors when there's one. I've had cigar ice cream and black truffle ice cream in the past, as part as bigger desserts but still, those were the weirdest, and quite memorable too.
Here are some flavors of ice cream I've made in the past:
Star Anis and Persimmon sorbet
Chai tea latte with pistachios
Buttered popcorn ice cream with salted caramel
Prosciutto and melon
Irish coffee with smoky bacon and candied chestnuts
Eggnog
Generally speaking, it's been my experience that a little texture can improve just any ice cream so think crunch to make "basic" recipes more fun, and spices also work on flavors that could be a little bland.
For inspiration, you can check out the websites of flavor geniuses like Ice and Vice, Milkmade, Odd Fellows, or Salt & Straw for more classic flavors (with twists)
And finally a recipe for Cinnamon Ice cream with Candied Bacon from David Lebovitz. His book, Perfect Scoop, has nice recipes.

Tomorrow is my first active cakeday. (But I anticipate a busy day tomorrow. So, I'm doing the post today.) Tomorrow, two years ago, I discovered the site and made an account, but after seeing a lot of rough with very few diamonds (and very low odds of winning), I left and forgot about it. Over a year later, I saw it mentioned again, and came to give away some old Steam inventory items and Humble Bundle keys I wasn't interested in. I learned to hide games I don't want, and to use the wishlist feature, and I actually saw games I wanted! So, I stuck around, but the exact cakeday isn't at all special to me.
Also, cake is great. No lies. But I enjoy ice cream more. So much so that I have "invested" in a nice (consumer) ice cream maker, and I make stuff at home for a hobby. I have the Ben and Jerry's and Ciao Bella recipe books. The Ben and Jerry's book has lots of traditional flavors, but I really like the less common flavors from Ciao Bella.
So, instead of cake pictures, please post pictures or recipes of ice cream, gelato, Italian ice/sorbetto, or granitas. Less common flavors are preferred, as long as you can recommend them or would try them yourself. Give me ideas for new flavors and flavor pairings. That's the good stuff.
I'll start off with an ice cream cake, and a couple of my favorite flavors.
Edit:
New puzzle added to get to the reward train. Numbers instead of words, so it should be easier for non-native English speakers. Same rewards, solving either puzzle is sufficient. You have until 1500 GMT (if I did the time conversion correctly) on the 7th, plus two more days for the DLCs in there.
Solutions
Images are added to the post.
Pairings: For me (in the US), all of the pairings appeared in Google's 10 suggestions when I typed in "item1 and" in the search field. Understandably, this could vary in other regions, and could be challenging for non-native speakers. Once you have the pairings (always one from the left column, and one from the right), place them on the scales. Measure the difference in weight with the tick marks, with the needle tipping away from the heavy side. There are 26 tick marks, so convert the indicated tick to the alphabet.
Odds: I think this is a simpler concept. What are the odds of picking balls of specified colors randomly from the fishbowls? The odds can all be expressed in a fraction of x/26, so convert x to a letter in the alphabet.
