one of your last few warnings to lock that steam launcher down/prevent updates
started a group of steam windows 7 users helping each other out
also using the curator page to list steam games that claim 10 but run just fine on 7. if you need to add something into the launcher / edit a file that info is added in

Thank you.

Maybe it's better to hold off on preventing the client from updating till the last possible moment?
As in, keep it vanilla and updating till maybe December 20 or so then start doing this.

What do you think?

I know you want to hang on to Windows 7 but it's not healthy to use an old system if you are an internet user.
For a Windows 7-like experience I really recommend Linux Mint, withal you don't have to delete Windows 7. This is an up-to-date and secure operating system and you don't need to use terminal at all. And you can use certain themes to make it look exactly like Windows.

Just because you're a careful user doesn't mean you're not at risk though. Exploitations of old systems are no joke. Also, as for software compatibilities Steam won't be the only program that drops Windows 7 support. It's perfectly fine to use an old system in an isolated container, but things change. We cannot have some things forever. It's better to accept that sooner.

I managed to run Elden Ring on Win 7 back then with this https://www.nexusmods.com/eldenring/mods/12 so you could potentially add it to your curator?

Thanks for the reminder. My gf is running Windows 8 on her laptop and I need to remind her to lock her Steam client.
Hopefully the games she's the most into will remain functional.

If the game is sold as installers (and hopefully obviously, you keep back ups of them), there's no need to worry about losing access to your games.

Another Penguin attempt :)

If you fancy Windows 7 looks, there is a theme that makes Linux exactly like Windows 7.

I always forget that I need useless "Steam Guard" enabled for commenting on the Win 7 group (one more reason to dislike Steam on my end).
Win 8.1 x64 still works as they told us, "ancient" users.
