Just a day ago. Some Indian dude called and told me that I had malware, and he works for Microsoft. I immediately knew that he was a scammer. I loaded up a virtual machine, made sure there was no link between my PC and the virtual machine.
The scammer told me to open up my event log, and said for me to read some of it to him, he then said that I had a virus, and after I restart my PC it will ask for a randomly generated password, and once that comes up, they will be unable to fix it, NO MATTER WHAT'S IN YOUR EVENT LOG THE SCAMMER WILL SAY YOU HAVE A VIRUS.
The scammer then told me to go to www.ammyy.com, TAKE NOTICE THAT AMMYY IS LEGITIMATE SOFTWARE IT'S ONLY DESKTOP CONTROL SOFTWARE, after downloading ammyy, the scammer told me to tell him the code to acess my PC, he did
After doing that, he went and installed some software onto my Virtual Machine; he said that my "virus" was fixed and hung up.
Upon rebooting my Virtual machine, I was greeted that my pc had a virus and I had to pay for some some special antivirus software to get rid of it; this antivirus software was obvoisly fake.
I later deleted the virtual machine.
