I did only for the multiplayer, and I love it. Sad that it has ended for now :(

But I want to know, why did you buy it?

Did you already have it, and the multiplayer was a big bonus when it came out? Or maybe you bought it only for the singleplayer? Or you may have a different reason. Tell me :)

I already had it. It seemed like a good bunch of mindless fun. I still have to play it though ;_;

I was gifted it.

And what a nice gift.

Indeed. Just need to play the original first. I had it on PS2, but that copy was glitchy as **** and needs to be replaced. It has a bug that prevents enemies from being effected by my bullets.

And no, I'm not a terrible shot, I can even unload at pointblank and they aren't touched. Had to melee them to eventually pass the bit after the landing, then couldn't pass the turret section...

Bugs, bugs everywhere!

Yup. And unlike the later consoles, I couldn't download a patch.

If it was a recent console, like PS3 or X360 you could have done that patch probably but in a PS2 is a bit more difficult to patch whatever you need to patch.

Try impossible. You needed a new disc. There wasn't a patching system, which sucked when a game had glitches, but at least back then they had to attempt to release them to a certain standard if they wanted sales. Now...

I bought it because it's an awesome game. It's like GTA or Saints Row, but in a jungle instead. Plus there's lots of cool mods to screw around with.

My friend mentioned something about this isn't like Just Cause 2 so I bought it to try it out.

Yeah, I did it for the multiplayer as well, but I hate that they open it only for test weeks and not a open beta thing.

I bought it because it was cheap 3 dollars, I played the demo long ago and wanted to play the full game. But also got it recently due to jc-mp.

I bought it before multiplayer mod, just because it's good, open-world game with nice graphics. Unfortunately I can't run it on max settings but anyway it still looks awesome even on my 3 years old laptop.

Got with a trade if I remember correctly, it has good reviews, no idea if I like it

Any other reasoning is invalid. I don't like the MP.

the game turned out to be ok but the free roaming is kind of shallow there is not much to do on the island at all.

I didn't, I won it.

I wanted it because it just looks like a hell of a lot of fun. Had some graphics issues with it though, that I have yet to sort out.

Hmm, don't remember. Must have been in a (search search) Square Enix bundle?

Never tried that multiplayer thing, but the game is good dumb fun. Just wander around and blow things up. :)

Amazon bundle containing it, Deus Ex, Quantum Codundrum and The Last Remnant maybe? Something like that.

Aha, finally remembered how to find this junk in the steam client, but after looking at the price I wish I'd remained ignorant... :)

The question is not 'why did you buy it', it's 'why haven't you bought it yet'. Buy it buy it buy it!

Big ass explosions and friggin air vehicles.

A reminder for all sandbox games out there.

I have it on 360, so I didn't get to partake of any multiplayer funness. The single player campaign is a cheesy B-movie, but the game is huge and its thoroughly satisfying blowing things up and pulling off ridiculous stunts with the zipline. My personal favorite is still riding on the hood of a jet and jumping off just before I crash it into something.

That just made me flash back to fun in San Andreas. Throw a bunch of explosives onto a motorcycle, drive it around, find a bunch of punks, aim and jump off. When the bike continues into their group, use the detonator. :D

It was highly recommended to me by a friend and was indeed really fun to play (although there were some funky glitches and the heat thing was repetitive at times). I actually had no idea there was ever any multiplayer!

I bought it in 2010 for the event right before the winter sale.
There was an achievement to do but I didn't even play it at the time and I think the game went on sale for cheaper on the winter sale afterwards. That was not such a great buy. :p
On a side note, I also remember buying Monkey Island 2 on the same event, and the game turned out to be even cheaper with Monkey Island 1 bundled (than Monkey Island 1 alone) in the winter sale, so I bought the game a second time a few days later. >_> To be fair, that was my first Steam sale so everything seemed to be such a good deal. :)

Back on topic now, I only bought it for the single player because the multiplayer didn't even exist at the time. I have completed the game and all the achievements but I haven't even tried the multiplayer yet.
