(Read about the new bonus under EDIT)

New puzzle giveaway! (2 copies of Nation Red. The giveaway games genre is a bit opposite to the puzzle's theme)

Ends in: 2 Weeks - 12/02/2012 22:00 GMT.

Giveaway Link: http://bit.ly/??????????

Where each "?" stands for the first letter of an answer. Example:"Dirty Harry" -> D. (All capital Letters!)

All new single answer checker to reduce frustration and head trauma due to head desking:

http://bit.ly/is[N][Answer], where [N] stands for question number, and [Answer] stands for the..well..answer. Yes, its case sensitive.

Example:

  1. "Go Ahed, Make My day!" -> http://bit.ly/is1DirtyHarry

If you get a happy rewarding link to a video, picture or website, then D is the proper letter. http://bit.ly/D?????????.

Hint: Most questions have the same theme. Some answers/links may hold clues for another question.

Basic solving strategy: All answers can be found using google and certain keywords. You have to CLICK some links and do a little reading / watching at times. Some answers won't magically pop out of google search without you investigating a lil further. links leading to sites like wikipedia and youtube should help, laziness won't solve this puzzle.

The bottom part of this window will include little fixes and updates in case some answers turn out to be misleading.

=Video Game Characters=

  1. Behold my mighty shiny plunger! I won't be mopping the floor forever. All I have to do is pass the academy graduation exam. Maybe I should do what every student does when he doesn't know the answers. I am guilty of not being in... Once I pass the exam and get in there my dad would tell me "I'm proud of you son!".

  2. I will not behold your mighty shiny plunger, but instead hunt you down in the jungle like the predator that I am. Yes, you will be hunted, alone. I'm much older but I look 40. I am one homicidal gynoid.

  3. While you're off seeking Glory I am at peace. When you are lost, you may seek shelter from those who hurt you in a place warm in snowfall. Come, lay your head in my garden and I shall sing to you in your dreams. I am there with you. My magic remains, take my fruit.

  4. While you're off seeking Glory I am in darkness. When you are lost, you may seek shelter in my shadows. I only come out at nightfall and garlic doesn't do wonders to my skin. The child is mine, you can't have her!

  5. I was just an ordinary guy trying to write his book. Little did I know about my family history. My quest will lead me through dark alleys filled with african witchcraft, and back to Germany, where I will meet men, wolves, and everything inbetween. I will need two objects to fight the shadows - one sharp, and one round. I must always wear it.

  6. The man I'm inlove with may not be a Knight in shining armor, but I will use my intelligence and grace to help him solve the murder mysteries. This bookstore holds all the written knowledge that I need. While my father is japanese, my partners fathers have many sins. My oil painting kill and tai chi could come in handy. New Orleans is a nice place.

  7. Eventhough my profession is to entertain the king and queen, I've decided killing them would be funnier. My hats usually have jingling bells. I also take praticular enjoyment in blowing up trees, especially the west woods. I hold vast magical powers but in the end I was turned into stone.

  8. The king's counselor raised me as his grandson. I will not forgive the villain that turned him into stone and killed my parents. I'll embark on my journy and retrieve the stone which he had stolen and find my fathers chalice.

  9. I am a young, pretty girl that likes brewing potions. The kingdom is in great danger and is slowly disappearing. I will embark on a quest to retrieve the stone which anchors the world. Why did that hand pick me. My hand holds the fate of the kingdom.

  10. I was born in the age of the great guilds. You'll never guess I'm 17 nor see my face but you'll notice my blue eyes. I wear a grey robe and use my staff to weave the fabric of reality.

[EDIT]

*Answer 2 - Different sites seem to write the name a bit differently, I have made a validation link version without the dash.

*Fixed answer 6. Added both possible spellings to the validation link. So in case you're not sure, check again.

*Questions 3,4 - Made a tiny change, since alot of feedbacks claimed it was a bit difficult.

*I've decided to reveal the prize games. I don't want people getting disappointed once they solve the puzzle. You're still encouraged to solve the puzzle even if you don't want that specific prize, since my future puzzles will have similar logic aswell.

*Also, I'm always looking for coupons. If you have coupons you do not need I'd be happy to have them :3

*Incentive: After the puzzle is over, I will provide another small easier mini puzzle which will feature a question related to one, or more, of the answers to this puzzle. So even if you have nation red you may want to solve this puzzle.

*After puzzle is over, please do not post answers right away, due to the little mini puzzle I'm planning.

Stuck on 3 and 4, finished the rest. I'm still "desk heading" though even with the introduction of the awesome Single Answer Checker.

I am 60% done. 1-4 seem do be quite obscure (probably because you picked up some very famous characters and decided to make the descriptions more generic to hide their assumingly-well-known identities better). I like the checker idea, though.

I cannot tell you if they're famous or not. But don't let that be your guideline. just remember all games in this puzzle have more or less the same common trait (you probably won't find shooters here). use google and certain keywords, if those dont work, use a different set of keywords. maybe less keywords, maybe more keywords.

Well, having completed more than half of the puzzle I presume that I understand what was the main idea of uniting these characters together (at least for the main part). I had no success googling the first four questions, and, even though I am the "right" age for this theme, due to a number of reasons I am not an expert in this particular field. I found certain lists, which I was trying to use for discovering the solution, but I they are somewhat lengthy and this would apparently take a lot of time. Anyway, since you insist it should be googleable, I would try again. And thanks for being so friendly to me and other participants. :)

when theres long descriptions of stuff you don't feel like reading, you can ctrl+f and look for keywords. read through the questions again and try to filter out certain keywords that seem important. sometimes you have to build up your own keywords based on logical deductions from the information given in the question. When all else fails you may have better luck using other search engine / websites?

Well I do not mind reading, just that mostly I found that what I was reading was totally useless for solving the puzzle. By the way, I pushed on and was capable of spotting 1 and 2 very fast. So thanks once again! And may I mention that 2, apparently, has multiple ways of... spelling as well (on wiki and fansites e.g.)? It is not a major problem, but I just wanted you to know.

This puzzle has a theme. Once you find one and validate it through the links, you'll know better what to look for.

I have the theme down. Was actually easier to get answers than I expected. The single answer checker thing is awesome.

All I need are 3 and 4 now, though.. urrghh

Edit: GOT IT. Awesome.

Almost done, I'm missing 1 and 2, got 3-10 in half an hour of casual searching around.
Curiously, I got them all exactly in last-to-first order.

EDIT: Finished. It was my first puzzle here and it was VERY balanced. Not easy and not hard, had lots of fun with it.

Wow, thanks for being so generous! :)
P.S. I would suggest not writing your puzzle is "over" in the thread name until the mini-puzzle is done to avoid misunderstanding and misinterpreting. Some people might not see the [EDIT] part and post the solution by accident.
By the way, is the "addition" the thing I am thinking of now? ;)
