How often do you use it?
it supposed to be used on a TV.
I'm planning to buy an HDMI cable to link my PC to my TV (mainly to watch videos from PC to the TV) but i will give it a try, there's some games on Steam that are worth to give a try to be played on TV with a controller.

Steam machines are basically using the Steam we know with Big Picture...
Besides, not everyone is planning to buy a steam machine. In my exemple, a simple HDMI cable will suffice, no need to buy a Steam Machine as my PC can do the job.
I'm not telling that i will use Big Picture a lot, but still, being there is nice because it offer me some opportunities to play games with a controller (because there are some who are better played with a controller than a mouse/keyboard).

Well, I kinda felt like it's gonna use Big Picture, but wasn't too sure, thanks for enlightening me :)
Also, I really can't wait for its' release, for that price even I could think about affording one, only depends on how good it's gonna be.

Steam machines are meant to be used in Big Picture mode and KBM-less.

As one SG user put it in another thread some time ago: "The BPM button is just a thing for me to misclick on and shout profanities at while I wait for Steam to recover."
I 100% agree with that statement :D

Haha so true. The problem I have is when I have my xbox controller plugged in and I accidently press the xbox button and it opens BPM!

My PC is always connected to my TV instead of a PC monitor and I play most games with an Xbox 360 controller, but I've never seen the point of Big Picture.

True. I guess if you use the PC exclusively for gaming and always use a controller, it's convenient.

No, because I don't use it on TV. I've launched it several times just to see the functionality. May be it's useful if you're playing with controller on the big screen luying on the sofa :) Absolutely don't need it at the current step of life

Nope. The only time I ever use it is when I accidently press the xbox button on my controller with steam open and it opens big picture :P
But I don't like the way big picture mode looks. It's so much easier using the regular steam AI.

I never use big picture, its not laggy when i open it, but when I plug it on my tv with an HDMI i use the normal one with a mouse...

hahaha no, but when i use a mouse why should I open big picture mode, its about gaming not about how it looks imo, normal works fine on my tv

Not if you are playing with a controller, cause you have to leave it and use the mouse to navigate and change the game. But let me guess your answer "why would i want to use a much inferior console input method (controller) on the master platform?"

Not enough options in the poll :(
I have two PCs. One on a desk , connected to a monitor and controlled with mouse+keyboard. Standard mode in Steam.
The second one is a small console size PC in my living room, connected to the TV. It starts Steam right after booting and starts up in Big Picture mode. I only have controller games installed on that one, so no keyboard needed. Everything (including turning off the power) is controlled with a 360 pad. it's a PC acting as a console. For this Big Picture mode is great! No keyboard needed and easy to navigate with the controller.
So, I use Big Picture mode all the time on one of my computers. The second one - never.

Big Picture Mode is one of Valve's stupidest thing to implement on Steam by default.
There should at least be a setting to turn it off... I hate it when I accidentally hit the Xbox button on my controller, which launches BPM.

Another member of the only by accident crew here.
It's only really for people who would occasionally plug their PC/laptop into the tv or have a secondary PC plugged in as far as I can see.
My main and only PC is permanantly connected to my tv so I obviously need a wireless keyboard/mouse to hand.

My primary PC is connected to a TV in my rec room with Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse. I use a Logitech controller for games that support it, and kb+m for everything else. I don't use Big Picture.

I do use it sometimes when i just want to sit back and play games on my TV.

So I was wondering any real purpose or benefit to use Big Picture mode on steam? And do you use it yourself and why?
