Just wondering what's the primary weapon type you like to play with. I personally go with Crossbows.
(This goes for any M&B game btw)

So what's your primary in M&B games?

View Results
Crossbows
Bows n' Arrows
Polearms (Lances, Halberds, etc.)
Swords
Axes
Two-handed weapons (broad-swords, war-axes)
Blunt weapons (Clubs, Maces, Tree branches- for the desperate)
Throwing (Stones, throwable axes, knifes, or darts)
None of the above; I kick my foes into submission!

I know I'm in the minority, but Fire & Sword was my fave. I loved charging in on horseback with a pistol.

Heh, if you're going that route, simply studying the War of the Roses in general is pretty amazing. No fiction required.

Played Warband a lot.
And weapon preferences depends on situation.
In singleplayer i prefer sword+shield+crossbow for sieges.
As for regular battles on map - polearms+secondary 1h sword. I travel with small, very fast group of loyal men :)

I don't like Crossbows, way too slow. I play Bows + Arrows, preferably Khergit.

Though I play with mods and most of the time I played with new weapons. I loved the Gekokujo mod back in the days :)

I like them because they take their time, but they're accurate and deadly.

IMO since enemies tend to move in crowds I always went for the regular bow just because you can just rapidfire into the pack and do a lot of damage without needing to stop moving for long.

Also I can't wait for Bannerlord, I hope it comes out soon.

Two handed sword for the win. As for the ranged weapon - bow. Yes.

Bow of course...as a good lover of archers =D

Voted Bows, but most of my kills came from a lance.

Two-handed weapons are my favourite, but early in the game I'm also good with sword + shield.

And sword + shield is my major equipment during sieges :3.

MP or SP?
MP: spear + axe + 2 shields
SP: ....whatever you like. I use lance and bow on horseback. Most of the 2h weapons put you in disadvantage.

Polearms + Throwing.
I love throwing weapons, but sadly the ammo is so limited...

In all games I played with medieval themes (well, basically all RPGs I played), since the first (Diablo I), I love sword & shield.

When I played Diablo, I felt in love with the Paladin. From there, I never played a mage, an elf, or anything different than pure Warrior. If the game allows, like Helbreath did, I might make a hybrid, a self-berzerk warrior or something like that. But with the sword & shield.

Same for other types of weapon. Never liked crossbows, polearms, axes, or anything else.

I might even go for the worse builds if its what is required to play sword and shield. Two-handed sword might be an option if it doesn' look like a Final Fantasy huge sword.

So yeah, I pretty much play sword and shield.

And I love Mount & Blade, one of the best games I ever played. Never touched it on Steam tho. I'm a bit burnt. Waiting for Bannerlords.

Doesn't going with Sword and Shield get a little dull game after game? Don't you feel a need for variety sometimes?

Well, it depends. There is other stuff to add variety I guess. Just the sense of progression (better swords, better armor, grow your army) is enough for me I guess. :P

Last time i checked, a "horse" doesn't fall into the weapon category but i see your point.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! This gave me a little more perspective about the whole thing.

(BTW whoever chose "I kick my foes into submission" i know you're lying >:) )

For me whenever I have to go as a foot soldier I prefer using a bow and arrow, but whenever I can ride on horseback I just love me a sword. Just racing past all those peasants and slicing them up from the sides is so much fun!

Whenever I have played Warband, I've always gone 2-handed. Why? Well, I 'unno. I like the idea of full-offensive rather than a mix of defensive and offensive. In Warband, the 2-Handed weapons are pretty bad at, well, blocking. You can still reduce damage but generally you're expected to go full-offensive. It's why I go bow/crossbow at ranged, then get close and switch to my sword. The swords in Warbands are pretty strong, too. Better than the axes, in my opinion. I suppose you could also go lances(and I think spears?) if you want to try your luck with horse-combat. That, or you can be insane and try bow-and-horse.

I've yet to beat it fairly, I have fun just dominating all of the other kingdoms, but I keep it installed for when I want to go back to it. Warband is a fantastic game. I only wish with all the mods they would add something with real substance and not just fluff. The few ones that change it enough for my interest do it in such a dramatic way that I'm no longer interested.

I'd be happy with simple expanded inventory mods, too. Just want the base game plus a few more options in armor and weapons. Is that so much to ask, modders? ;(
