Hi, I have 2 suggestions. Wonder what you think about them.

  1. Custom wishlist
    • You could add a button (next to eye that hides giveaways) that would add a game to custom wishlist.
    • Now you may say: "Why would we do that? You can add a game on steam and sync account". Well yes....and NO! There are games included in bundles like "Orcs Must Die 2 - Complete Pack". I have "Orcs Must Die 2" in steam wishlist, but I can't add a whole bundle to wishlist. Now, when bundle shows up as giveaway, it does not show in my wishlisted giveaways.
  2. A bit more advanced filter and sorting of giveaways.
    • I would like to sort GA by points (or filter GA that cost less/more than X pts).
    • Someone might find sorting by number of entrants useful as well.

Bonus: It would be nice to sort GA by steam user review or release date. Though I don't know how much data do you store for games and if it's possible right now.

Sorting by points and entries should be trivial to implement (you already have these data).

Points regeneration has become really fast recently. What's the point of sorting by points when you just need to wait an hour or so to get near to 100p?

I don't understand what point regeneration has to do with sorting by points. Please explain :).

My motivation for this kind of sort/filter is simple:
I only enter giveaways for games that I would actually play. I don't like indie/bundle games that cost <10 or so points. That's why I would like to sort /filter giveaways to only see games I am interested in (higher costing games).

Now what do you think is simpler in this scenario? Put hundreds of games to ignore list (don't forget new games get released all the time) OR just filter them out by points and put only few I am interested in, on wishlist.

I was opening a new post with the same suggestion. The site could give the possibility to sort by points, or search for prize draws values currently do this with Ctrl + F on pages. Great changes have been made on the new site, but that would be essential.

I wanted to make a thread about the first point - it's particularly problematic with games that can't be bought separately. For example, Sam and Max. Adding one of the seasons to the wishlist results only in the first episode of the season appearing in it.

glad I am not the only one who likes this idea :). Let's just hope devs read these discussions and will implement it soon.

Meanwhile I had another idea for filter-> show only / hide DLCs or bundle games

another idea for filter - contribution levels

There already is a way of filtering giveaways above your levels, unless you mean additional filters that allow you to see giveaways in specific level brackets, which is a valid suggestion.

I upvote this "1." with MA OWN 2 HANDS!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is so ridiculous we can add games but not bundles in wishlist.
This is also strange that you can 'hide' ANY giveaway with simple button, but you cant 'star' anything at all.

Filtering by "steam user review or release date" is pretty strange wish, I dont think many people would use that. And i guess its hard to implement, too.
"sorting by number of entrants" will just kill all the fun and micro-management completely.
"Sorting by point cost" sounds little redundant - keeping in mind how fast points are stacking with new system

  1. user review - Well if you don't care what game you win, then yes, it is strange. But chances to win a game are quite low and I would like to win a game I would enjoy, not some reject that every player hated :). I always check reviews before entering a giveaway. If I think the game is bad, why would I wan't it? I leave it to people who want it.
  2. release date - Newer = better, don't you think? Just kidding. The thing is, older games often don't work on newer systems (just try commandos/robin hood/etc) and you won't get far. Winning a game you can't even play is a very bad luck.. just like missing a very freshly released game. That's why this sort.
  3. sorting by entrants - I find this useless as well. I just mentioned it, because someone could use it and it's trivial to implement.
  4. sort by points - read http://www.steamgifts.com/go/comment/rmIO34L

  1. Since I do care, I only join giveaways for game I very well know and want. After site update, 95% giveaways I join are from my wishlist, rest 5% are other blockbusters I heard of gasillion times. So y, this sounds very strange to me that some1 want such field to watch it and then decide "oh maybe I should join this giveaway, never heard of this game but it has good rating". Then even if you win such game, I guarantee you will redeem the key and game will fall to oblivion like other 70% of your library.
  2. I thought everybody know that, but if not - most release dates on steam are not true. Mostly for games which were released before steam. They just show date when the game was added to Steam, and you should deal with it cos Valve's employees are too lazy to check real date when adding a game.
  3. Lol, but you will obviously miss something beautiful then, aren't you afraid of that. Want me to find legendary games for you that cost 10 points and less? (didnt need to search though, just checked first that came to mind http://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/79Hfh/fallout-a-post-nuclear-role-playing-game)

Now it's been a while since sg2 was came out, I reaffirm that a custom list is necessary. There are many games that can not be added to the wishlist of steam .

Before sg2 I used to fetch sg's rss feed and filter giveaways that i'm interested in with a python script based on the giveaway's title. The feed reader I use, liferea, can be set up to automatically filter feed items using scripts like this one, so all I had to do was to check my feed reader.

Unfortunately sg's rss feed is not functional in sg2 so I'm stuck with the wishlist which doesn't have the flexibility of a script, like regex matching for example.

I totally agree with both suggestions, particularly the first one ! It would really be useful to have a custom wishlist for bundles / packs :)

Filtering by points is possible with https://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/1kgzB/new-search-parameters. For sorting you can use ESGST which has sorting by points and many more functions.

Yea I looked at this site's source and saw that it would be pretty easy to make sorting using japascript, but then I found out that people already done that and so much more! The amount of features in ESGST is really impressive... Seems that some people where really committed to this!
