I'm a major FPS enthusiast., so my favorite game comes straight from the absolute pinnacle of my favorite genre. Other than that, I tried to squeeze in one of each type of games I play, even though there are some I might have enjoyed more than others, like for instance a but-load of other FPS games: Far Cry 3, Bulletstorm, Painkiller, Half Life 2, F.E.A.R, Return to castle Wolfenstein, Borderlands 2, Doom 3. Or RPGs like Mas Effect and The Witcher. Or one TPS that had an even better story than Max Payne 2, but unfortunately wasn't nearly as fun game-play wise, Spec Ops The Line. But there's no way to make a top like this with just shooters and RPGs. Would have made me look like a prick. How did I differentiate between these, you ask? I just weighed them all in my head and remembered with which I had the most fun. But the number 1 was a no-brainer. Story is always what i value most in a game and it really doesn't get any better than Bioshock.

Warcraft 3 custom games (Dota wasn't one of them weirdly enough xD) probably make my all time favorites. (Footmen, Risk, LTW, ...)

4. Lego Star Wars : The Complete Saga (CO-OP) Sheer joy

5. Dragon Age: Origins (RPG) Massive in scope and highly rewarding

6. Mass Effect 2 (Action/RPG) What a blast and great characters to boot

7. Diablo (Dungeon Crawler) Hours of fun and loottastic

8. Cities Skylines (City Builder) Absolutely epic and MOD heaven

9. R-Type / Nemesis (Side Scrolling Shooters)
