Best to start with the Redux version? I have both.

I played only the Redux version, and felt no need to play the other one. Back then, when I looked into this subject, I learned that:
- The Redux version is more demanding on your PC; if your computer cannot run it well... well, clearly you want the original one.
- The Redux version runs a newer version of the Unreal engine. The difference in graphics is....huh, here check this video (which I like because it is very much spoiler-free). The two versions are different, but I have seen people argue both ways to say which one is "better".
- The Redux version supposedly has some gameplay improvements: (a) More frequent savepoints, (b) a solution for a possible backtracking problem near the end of the game, (c) a less demanding stealth section, for example. Though I only played Redux, let me defend these changes: (a) savepoints were never a problem for me; (b) I made use of the so called "backtracking solution"; it was fairly seamless, and I would be annoyed if it did not exist; and (c) I enjoyed the small stealth section, but I can see how it could be bad if not properly balanced.
Anyway, take all my opinions with a grain of salt. They taste better this way. ;D

Wow, thanks for the comprehensive and helpful answer, Thexdor. For some reason there is no store page for the redux version so I had no idea of the differences. That video does a good job of comparing them - and the graphics do look great.
So will definitely start a game with redux - and who doesn't love a dash of salt with everything!

Remember Me got slated (the company seems to have a massive problem with repetitive gameplay and irritating combat), but I actually really enjoyed the story.
And as a game tester, Remember Me had hands down some of the most impressive idle/movement animations I've seen. I remember being very impressed at the time and since I tend to bug a lot of art issues, I notice most games fall short in this arena as they consider it 'minor'.
I also liked the style of the game.
