Pirating, what should be the result?
Except its not. The only thing you infringe is intelectual property law, you dont physically make anyone lose anything. The whole patenting/licensing thing is a bull a lot of the time, excuse to milk money. Real example, many vaccines/medicaments are behind a stupidly expensive license, when making them is really cheap, thus shafting any poor country from legally making them - making the people suffer, cause they dont have a license they can't afford. Should we really be defending such laws? All it does is slow down humanitys progress and let's the rich stay rich, and milk everyone else.
Comment has been collapsed.
And you think violate the laws is ok? If you think of it that way, refusing to paid for services is also just a breach of verbal contract and the service provider don't physically lose anything too.
First, it's funny to compare something created for entertainment purpose like video games and something created to save lives like vaccines.
Second, even something medical still has its own cost. It wouldn't be ok to refuse to pay for the medications too.
Third, do you really believe that copyright and patent law slow down humanity's progress? Actually, humanity's progress are much faster than the past. If you look back into the history, before there are any laws, people always try to hide their discoveries as 'trade secrets', and only people who made big discoveries enough to put it in history revealed it for their fame, and most of them are pure science. Most applied knowledge almost never revealed. Many discoveries has lost with their discoverer. Antikythera mechanism, brain surgery, carbon nanotube, nanowire, has been lost for several hundred years only to be rediscovered centuries later. Most of the in Contents of Codex Leicester never been revealed to public until centuries later.
But these days, many people are willing to reveal and let other make use of their discoveries or even use those knowledge to develop something better as long as they could get benefit from it.
To sum it up, in the past, most people are unwilling to share their knowledge unless it would make them become famous or more famous. Now, with these laws, people are willing to share their knowledge for some profit.
it's really funny that you think it slows down humanity's progress.

Not sure if OP is troll, liar or deluded. You can't stop piracy - simple as that, and the more you try the more you actually are hurting the paying gamers who are legit. Your poll answers are exactly like this. Also don't lie to us. You pirate - even if it is not games, then it is music or movies or just by reading manga and comics online.

*TL: DR AT THE BOTTOM**
I, for want of a better term, as it has so much stigma now, "Pirate" games/movies/music. If I download a game and I like it enough to go back to, then they've made a game I, personally, like and they deserve the money off me to (hopefully) make better games in the future, I have a stupid amount of games on Steam, not like some people who have 4,000+ games (really?), but getting to be a silly number now, I think nearly 700, more than I'll probably ever play.
The one game on my list that I've played more, "Broforce" I got downloaded in November, my son tried it, loved it, I saw how much he loved it, (a little boring background. He's an autistic 6 year old, rarely shows any enthusiasm for anything other than Lego and Lego PC games but with Broforce, we've managed to really bond, something I honestly thought would be impossible with him). I bought it at the beginning of December, the 4th or 5th, I think it was. Since then, we've played 362 hours of it. Bear in mind that my wife took the kids and buggered off and I only get them from Friday night at about 8pm to Sunday night, roughly the same time, so you can imagine how much he's hammered that game. He's even come first in some leaderboards, which is awesome for any 6 year old, let alone an autistic one!! If I hadn't have downloaded Broforce from a torrent tracker, I can say with 90% certainty that I would have never have even heard of the game and that bond I treasure more than anything in the world, I would possibly never have experienced. Same with most of my bought games, all downloaded previously. As is my music and movie collection, about 80% is hard to find, sometimes even imported stuff that I would never have come across if I wasn't downloading it in the first place.
I do get what you mean, though, but you're using the word Pirate wrong. The kids that go to PirateGay and KissAssTorrents, the public trackers, that have the most traffic, they're not "Pirates", We like to call them bottom-feeding scum-suckers who do nothing but hoover up digital data and never consider that him and all his mates are doing what they're doing, they're giving the Pirates a bad name and we're being tarred with the same brush. WE ARE NOT THE SAME!!, it's either that pet name or something similar, it depends on the time and if I've had my morning cigarette or not. All my trackers are invite only and I can say, with certainty because it's been discussed to death by new users, the vast, and I mean VAST majority of the Private Tracker "Pirates", well, we buy the things we like. I am far from rich, I get just over £80 disability benefits to live off per week, £30 of which goes immediately on gas and electric. Once a month I pay £14 water rates and £18 Council Tax. I'll let you work out what's left, and I have to help support, no, in fact since that swamp-donkey fucked off with my kids, I've paid for everything, the last 3 weeks, because my 'wife' spit refused, the day before they were due, the rest of the fees for my daughter's school trips, after promising and getting her excited for weeks about them, the night before, I've had my daughter ring me in tears because her mother turned round and basically said, "No, I'm not paying". This is after I've paid £70 deposit for the trips, so I was getting 12 hours notice to find, the latest one, 3 weeks ago was £250. £180 for the trip she's on this weekend, £70 for a trip the school went on months ago and she never finished paying for, so I had to clear that, as well. So, yeah, I'm pretty much fucked money-wise and I'll never be able to earn a wage, which is so fucking shitty it's untrue.
Her mother is that bad, 5 weeks ago, my daughter and her friends arranged to go to Blackpool Pleasure Beach for the day, brilliant!! She bought her tickets and everything. Last Friday, my daughter did something like answer her back, (she's 12. Show me any, ANY, 12 year old girl who doesn't answer back and I'll explain it away by suggesting she must be mute), so the night before, she sold my daughter's tickets on Facebook. I've had my daughter here since that night.....Bearing all that babbling I just did, I hope you can, while not necessarily forgive me pirating games, at least understand WHY I have pirate games, music , movies. If I like something, usually, it's weeks, months, even over a year one time, that I have to save and scrape to be able to afford a game that I like. I can't afford to gamble on paying £40-£50 on a game I might hate, I just can't do it. And if I didn't, I wouldn't have spent the last 6 months grinning my fucking face off like a Hyena that's dropped Ecstacy all weekend due to actually meeting, on an emotional level, my autistic son. I absolutely, point-blank, will always refuse to apologise for that happening
TL: DR AS PROMISED: Sorry, I waffled on for fucking ages there, didn't I? Bottom line, yeah, I can't afford games, if I wasn't pirating I would own next to nothing, entertainment-wise, as I wouldn't know what I liked or disliked, and because of me downloading 1 simplistic platformer that's still in Early Access, I got to bond for the first time with my autistic 6 year old boy.....He loved the game so much, I bought it about 2 weeks later and I unequivocally say, "Just let us be", We're not the little kids on PirateGay that don't give a shit about anybody or anything and grab, grab, grab,, the real pirates are on the private trackers, and we buy the shit we like!!
Comment has been collapsed.
+1 to that, and I'm truly sorry to hear about your situation. Bonding with children in general is difficult, but when they have mental disorders it's even more challenging. I'm honestly glad the game has helped you and your son bond together, and wish you best luck in the future? Also, screw that bitch. ;)

Hehe, thank you, I appreciate that. Best thing is, Since last weekend my girl has been living here, at the protestations of her mother and they're meeting in McDonald's tonight to talk through it all and I'm 99.9% positive my little girl is gonna say she's staying. That's not even the worst of what's gone on. Very long story short in regards to what she did to just me, nevermind what she does to the kids, She took me to the hospital 8 miles away at 10am for some tests, my GP wanted to rule out a heart attack as I was in a pretty bad way. So I go in for my X-ray 10am, she said she was going to move the car into the disabled bay for me as I struggled getting to where I was from where the car was parked. I come out 15 minutes later....No wife in the waiting room. SO I asked the receptionist to ring her mobile to tell her I was ready to go, she answered and replied, exact words: "I'm parking up now, I'll be there in 5 minutes",
10 minutes go by, no wife.....20 minutes, no wife. So I asked to ring her again, no answer. I walked around that entire hospital, not easy for me, checking all the parking lots, using every available phone I came across to ring her, no answer on any of them. I was getting concerned at this point because my morphine was due at 10:30, ever seen a morphine addict late for his fix? Think smack-addict and you're there, (which is basically what morphine and diamorphine are). I checked the A&E, in case she had an asthma attack or a crash, not there. 3 and a half hours later, I finally get through to my mother who had just finished work at 13:30 to come drive the 30 minutes to come pick me up. I get home to an empty house. No text, no note, nothing. It took 5 texts off me asking if she'd left me for her to answer, I told her she wasn't taking my kids away from me, that she should ask the kids where they wanted to live. They chose her and told me, my 6 year old autistic son basically mirrored what my wife had told him to say, it was way too mature for him to have said. He said he wanted to live with mummy during the week and daddy at the weekends. He has no real concept of weekdays and weekends, there are days he's at school and days he isn't, that;s it, as far as he's concerned. I found out off my daughter recently that 2 things; 1. She said to the kids on the way home from school to say they wanted to be with her because, and I quote, "Daddy will be moving in a few weeks, anyway", obviously knowing full well that I'm much, much more likely to stick a knife in her throat than forgive her. Also, my lad, he's asked several times to move in with me, but his mother keeps saying, "You stay here, you don't belong with your dad", my daughter had to console him and calm him down because he locked himself in his room screaming in tears saying "Daddy doesn't want me, what did I do?" What kind of mother does that??
So, she'd left me 8 miles away, without my medication, when I could have been having a heart attack and used the 4 hours I was stuck there to empty the house and move her and the kids out. So she left me 4th July (yes, I'm aware of the irony there, it's one of the very scarce saving graces of the situation), saying the separation was my fault, (I'm 37, she's 37 now, too, she was 36 when she left). January come along, 6 months later, she asks if I could have the kids and extra night whilst her car was in the MOT garage. I said yeah, not a problem. Next thing I know, about half 7 Monday night, I go on Facebook. I see pictures of her holding a baby that she has just birthed through caesarian section, Do the math.....Certainly isn't my kid, I know that 1,000% because I hadn't touched her for quite some time.
Turns out she was 3 months pregnant when she left, but it was my fault. Also, the 24 year old who is the father of the child is somebody who was as close to me as I let anybody get. I have, maybe, 3 people I would class as friends, the rest of them, I tolerate, just....She was half way through high school, and I was an addict, at the time he was being born, but it's all my fault and she did nothing wrong. All our "friends" are backing her play now, which I expected from most, but not all, but on the plus side....I don't think I want to be associated with any of these so-called Friends who think that it's perfectly OK and acceptable for a wife to go out drinking, fucking some kid, whilst her husband is at home looking after their kids.
Sorry, that actually IS the short version, believe it or not, and I've not mentioned most of what went down. Don't get me wrong, I was a bastard growing up and, with my disability, I've accepted that Karma has come along and kicked my ass into touch for it. Maybe I do deserve more off Karma but I'm pretty fucking certain I didn't deserve what she did.

I think it is absolutely OK to pirate games from companies like Ubisoft or EA. You know. They don't care for us, why should we care for them?
Othervise, I would love to support game developers that pay attention for what customers want. Which developer games for PEOPLE, not games for MONEY!
So as long you pirate game from some moneyhole corporation, it is OK for me...

I don't agree with that on 100%, but they are certainly the only one with DLCs overpricing especially if the price for GOTY/Legendary is lower than one frickin' DLC. That's a low blow, especially for preorder customers. At least I'll know the tactics for next time and wait for Fallout 4 to get all DLCs before I buy it.

I see a lot of anti-pirating support around this topic, very intriguing, The point is, 90% of the online community, if not more, has at least pirated something in their life due to it being 'too expensive', 'region locked', 'not sure my pc can run it', etc. Most of you probably pirate music, and I'm sure as hell you don't feel as if you're damaging the singer in any way, as if you end up pirating, in general, you had little to no intention to purchase the game anyway. Of course, you could be trying some games out to make sure your system can run them, I usually do that before purchasing any game on Steam. The point is, fighting against pirating won't solve anything as people will continue to find means of dealing with new regulations or policies. 'Steam account ban, let the developers implent files in their game which should detect if someone is pirating and let the devs automaticly contact steam about that.' - that's probably as dumb as someone could ever possibly get. If you pirate a game, you suggest banning a full steam library just for the one? Now, that's just retarded.
Comment has been collapsed.
Actually, music pirating doesn't usually damage the singers. The most pirated ones are the really big, we known stars. You really think they make up their fortune from selling albums? They couldn't give a fuck about that. it's the concerts that make up more than 80% of their incomes.
Sure, from a purely black and white, idealistic, intransigent perspective, it's wrong, because it's their intellectual property after all and one should not "steal it" just cause the owners are filthy rich. But let's not kid ourselves. It's not like they don't get anything from this little "transaction": free publicity...which is a really important thing when you're an artist. People illegally download your music and listen to it, chances are a lot of people will like it, your rating will go up, you'll get concert contracts with a lot of people showing up for them, which translates into piles of money. This is the reason why indie artists spread their music for free on the Internet and why hypocrite initiaves like jay-Z and his friends' Tidal SUCK are fucking despicable. "Hey look, we're fucking rich, won't you buy our albums at more than 50 dollars a piece after you pay a an account fee of 20 dollars a month and make us EVEN RICHER? You'll be helping out the indie artists" Oh yeah...riiiiight!!!

Pirating in my country is kind of... common! low salary (a good and stable gov job salary for a well trained person is about 300usd a month -it's a dream come true around here-), high price of usd and steam force us to buy games for full prices (no Russian prices, you'll get randomly banned)
but I try to buy every game that was part of my life. and for some time, I pirated games (that I had) because of the god damn drm!
now there is gog.com and gog galaxy and I don't feel like pirating the titles their selling... It's like stealing a candy from a baby!! it's easy but it feels too damn awful.
but is it our fault? maybe. but nobody supports out country to let us easily buy original product! lemme see, I want to buy fallout 4 for example, I have to go to a mid-man and ask him to buy it for me. he get's his cut and buy god sometimes it's too much. so a 60usd game costs me around 70usd to get. but w8 you can buy it from sales yes? sure, a 5usd game costs me around 9usd. and my salary isn't even around 100usd.
buy from origin? a game that is 15usd cost me around 32 usd to get. humble? price x2
I contact steam for supporting my country, didn't even bother to answer. and I intended for 2 month, they answer your country is not supported. ty steam for encouraging me to buy original products and support devs. at least origin helped me. and f u-play.
for now, I try to work my way around gog. we dont have an stable internet connection so gog is the best choice.
I'm not saying Pirating is good. I'm saying the companies like steam make us regret to do an legitimate purchase. srsly stop being a bitch toward us!
tl,dr: I like pie.

Sorry, I have to call shenanigans on that one. I download, yet I like to think I'm one of the most honest people I can think of, out of everybody that I know. Because I download I can't be honest? By definition, I'm not lying about it, I'm being honest
Comment has been collapsed.
From Wikipedia: "Honesty refers to a facet of moral character and connotes positive and virtuous attributes such as integrity, truthfulness, and straightforwardness, including straightforwardness of conduct, along with the absence of lying, cheating, theft, etc."
It's not all about the lies
Comment has been collapsed.
You really believe that Wikipedia is a reliable and incorruptible source of information? I know there are many facets to honesty, but really, I am an honest person. I buy the stuff I like and, like I said in my stupidly long post, if it hadn't been for me torrenting a game called Broforce in late November, I may never have been able to bond with my autistic 6 year old son, he showed very little interest in pretty much everything, so I absolutely refuse to apologise for that
Comment has been collapsed.
See, now, ethical is very subjective depending on the person you're asking. The Wiki pretty much is right in the STRICTEST definition of the word but again, honesty is fairly subjective, too, I just suggested, without saying the words, that you shouldn't really rely on a website that anybody in the world, with internet, can edit and alter to suit their own humour/needs/conspiracies/etc, and proudly quote it as a backup to your opinions

I don't support piracy but here's and interesting argument: "Not available in your region."
I bet most of you have seen this before, sure there are other services, but what about games that where removed from digital stores like Deadpool? Get a retail version? What if you like in a crappy country and no one ships there? If you have no way of legally obtaining the game should you be denied playing and experiencing it? Are you hurting the industry if you pirate a game you can't even buy?
Comment has been collapsed.
Your government stopping Deadpool from being released in your country isn't "oppression", it was the only recorded instance of any government and country leaders ANYWHERE forcibly stopping their countrymen from playing a game that is so terrible, some people would try to remove the memories of that game by cutting open their craniums and rubbing a cheesegrater along the insides for 15 minutes.......You should be thanking them and asking what they did with the real leaders
Comment has been collapsed.
Well,i dont support piracy ethier. But,as i seen in Hotline Miami devs updating pirate copies of a game, its a basically a free demo of a game, and devs said we just doing it for people. Oh if you don't understand what, check this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cf8n5l1kJOk
Comment has been collapsed.
I pirated to try out games before buying where there was no demo available. And even with demo versions I sometimes pirated, because demos are usually polished pieces of game that hide all the flaws, therefore you can't measure game's worth by it's demo. At least not always.
* bold ed - notice past tense, now pirating lost its reason for me. Most games are shit anyway, you can see it by looking at trailers. Also, the dlc business killed my drive to play majority of games.
Comment has been collapsed.
Report them to the government?! WTF dude? What would the government do? Sue you in behalf of the trademark\copyright owner? Are you fifteen?
In a world where developers constantly and blatantly lie to the consumers and provide no demos, I pirate without remorse. Good games get purchased, other don't and some are waiting to be fixed. For example I have pirated Pillars of Eternity and I plan to buy it once devs have fixed game-breaking bugs (seriously this game has MAJOR issues that no review I saw even mentioned). I pirated Watch_Dogs, didn't buy it for obvious reasons. Same with Aliens Colonial Marines. And I'm still on the fence about Witcher 3. I want to play it, but on the other hand I want to let CDPR know that lying to us is not cool, but I haven't pirated it.
Also I've had to pirate multiple uPlay games since legal copies fail to connect to online games, but since pirated copies take out most of the DRM, they work fine in matchmaking. Hell, anybody remember the fact that Splinter Cell Conviction had a bug in mission 2 that prevented progression by crashing the game at the ammo cache? I took 2 weeks for ubi to fix that shit, I was so glad I didn't buy it on launch (which is a stupid thing to do no matter what).
I don't want to force my view or ethics (or lack thereof) to anybody, just answering the question from my perspective. Sure there are many game I would never pirate, but if it comes to 60+ euros for a piece of digital entertainment (which in EU laws is my property - NOT A SERVICE as stated by Steam and similar platforms) I want to be sure I get my moneys worth.
Comment has been collapsed.
+1. As GOG says, these days we feel less and less that we own our games. Always online DRM, tons of various restrictions, ridiculous prices, no customer support, buggy releases. Every step of the way we are treated as pirates no matter the fact that we already paid for the games, which often fail to deliver enjoyment.
Comment has been collapsed.
Anyone is free to do what they want and then face the wrath of their own conscience for being cunts. I used to play games exclusively pirated, but now I've turned over a new leaf and I'm glad I did. I still pirate movies and music though, because I really can't afford to pay for all the music I listen to and not only do cinema tickets cost quite a lot themselves, but I'm a movie enthusiast and I really can't watch all the movies I want in the theater. And buying DVDs or Blu-ray is completely out f the question. They deteriorate hard in time and I don't even own a DVD player. The fuck am I gonna watch them on? The PC? That's fucking stupid. I've started buying games because Steam gives you the possibility to have a virtual library of games instead of a real one. Saves up space. Oh right, there's also no Netflix in my country, because only fucking 'muricans get to have nice things available to them.
Coming back to games, sometimes piracy is unavoidable. For instance, I own GTA IV, but if I wanna replay it, I can only do it by pirating it. Awesome, right? And then Rockstar complains about piracy on the PC and uses this as an excuse to never port a game on the PC (like RDR, for example). Fucking cunts!!!!.
Comment has been collapsed.
Although I think it's impossible to do something about it (since people have always been assholes and will always be), yeah...I would punish them as much as possible. People somehow thinks they are entitled to play no matter what, like it's something necessary, and then pirating is right because "BAAWWWW this game costs so much they are the real thieves even when I rob them!".
I used to pirate a lot of stuff as a kid, I just didn't understand the damage I was doing, now I buy everything I want to play, unless I just need a benchmark or something. I also do my best to buy stuff I pirated in my childhood to make things right.
Games are really cheap nowdays, pirating has no point.
Well...there are some exceptions...like paid games not working, or games almost impossible to find, and still I think that trying something before buying is not that bad, even if I don't need to do it anymore...but with the Steam Refund stuff yeah, that isn't needed anymore.
So yeah, it's not normal at all, but people treats it like it should be because they feel entitled to play stuff to the point of stealing it. I just try to avoid those people since they'll probably never understand.
Last note: I'm unemployed and thus kind of poor, I just choose wisely how to spend my money and free time.

As a teenager/student I used to pirate games because I simply did not have enough allowance to pay for all of it and "Steam Sales" were still a wet dream. But now as an adult who is perfectly capable of earning money I simply cannot justify pirating any kind of software. It doesn't feel right. What bothers me most about pirating is that we used talk about it in hushed tones back in the day but now SG seems to be filled with people who actually take pride in pirating and believe that it's "alright".

I would only pirate games for the following reasons:
Comment has been collapsed.
I used to attempt to beat emulators but stopped because I did not feel right about them, same goes for pirated games, I do pirate games if I want to check them out, like a demo and such, I do not care if other people do it, but I feel morally right if I want to beat a game, I will get it legally!

O don't agree with any of the options of the poll.
Steam account ban, let the developers implent files in their game which should detect if someone is pirating and let the devs automaticly contact steam about that.
I don't want to buy a game that knowingly invades my privacy by searching my computer , that is wrong in a bunch of different levels. Why would the steam account be banned if its a legit account and the account itself has nothing to do with the piracy act?
As Example: if it's a uPlay game, you will be banned from uPlay.
Nope. You cannot ban a legit account for a reason that has nothing to do with that account.
Let them just play pirated games.
Nope, Game developing is expensive and time consuming, its just like any other comercial activity. There are games with bigger budgets then AAA movies, its insane , the games could be cheaper but on the other hand some games turn out to be a flop and sometimes they can even not be profitable at all and have huge maintenance costs so IMO piracy=stealing.
Put ads in the pirated games. Monetizing piracy you say ? You can't do that , the message it passes is that piracy is OK.If they want to do that they just put out a free game and place advertising in it. If the DRM systems are easely overcome why do you think advertising would be different?
Report them to the government.
Who reports what to who ? Digital contents piracy is a crime but its so spread out and so many people do it that reporting to law enforcement agencies is pointless, they would arrest half the planet. Doesn't make it right though but the first requirement to any law is " It has to be enforceable" and at this point its not. Game developers have to come up with a way for people not to feel screwed when they get a game that doesn't really lives up to the expectation, they have to lower the prices or come up with a new business model like a monthly pay to steam to play any game, something like that, its not up to me to figure that out.
Comment has been collapsed.
The monthly subscription model was tried with companies like OnLive, and it failed quite miserably. Sony will try something similar maybe, but speculation is that they bought the company only for the streaming to make their PS1-3 games available in an online store, like the Wii store.
Some developers do add a few things to their game to mess around with pirates a little though. Like for example in Serious Sam 3 an invincible enemy pops up and follows you everywhere. Or in Game Dev Tycoon you randomly lose because of piracy. :) And sometimes these little quirks help more than the most insane DRMs. (Which Steam itself was once, and also the #1 reason why most people pirated Half-Life 2, because they literally couldn't play it…)
Comment has been collapsed.
You need to understand that putting in all these things to try and dissuade pirates only further inconveniences legitimate players. A pirate gets rid of the DRM immediately and that's that, it's the buyers who have to keep contending with it. There is no good justification for DRM.

"Steam account ban."
Lol,man,do you think all the pirates have Steam account where they have some games they paid for? xD
I think there are like 20% of pirates could have Steam account filled with free2play games which they can easily install on their secondary accounts. Pirates don't need Steam,Origin,GOG,uPlay, better ban them in Torrent trackers but it doesn't make any sense...

---NOTE--- Not everyone can afford games, my opinion doesn't regard to poor people, i just hate it when people with money and enough money to afford the pirated games just doesn't have a feeling for the devs
Is it normal to pirate games?
I think it 's a huge mistake you shouldn't take.
I pirated one game and after one day i buyed it on Steam.
I never pirate a game to try out, i only pirate it if there is no possibility at that moment ( maybe cuz it's night ) to buy the game, next morning i pay the game or donate a bit to the developers.
If u are a game addict like me then don't go to pirate but reconsider to get games from here or from bundle sites, pay a little more for a bundle if it makes your day better.
Stop pirating and reply to the poll please!
And maybe give this thread a bump if you agree with me
Even if you pirate a game to look if it's fun, and it turns out it's plain crappish junk will it still be normal to buy the game if it's not that expensive, otherwise you can donate 10 euro as example to the company and you won't do that to show off how good you are from inside no it's your own mentality which is important.
Read this please:
As example: I make a game, i hire people, i make connections with advertisers, copyright owners i buy content, i have to pay for several bills and a lot more stuff that comes with making and publishing a game.
It's like walking in a cinema getting through the security and watching a film and than go outside and it turns out its crap, or you like it and you don't give money for the entertaiment.
It's a shame to do that....
Maybe it is the age of the average player or is maybe the bad mentality of people at this time of life or there is no respect for developers anymore
Thumbs up for the people that are doing right and playing fair.

@JBlacknight
I like watching all these people who try to defend pirating saying it's not stealing when in fact it is. It doesn't matter how you spin it, it's always stealing.
@myself
'Yes and i have a couple of 40 euro games but i have record of 10 hour max on them while i have played ten times more small games, even 1 euro games are awesome!
I'm a dutch guy but my car later won't be a flagship like the witcher 3 is at the moment for gaming, i can't drive a maserati gran turismo S right from the auto dealer and say 'THANKS MAN just trying out maybe i'll see you next week if i have time and enjoyed the ride' there a appointments in life and norms and values which some people prefer and don't prefer but in a community of civilians should you learn to think also about other people and their hard work on games.
I'm also not very rich, i'm still gathering money with working as a student at the carwash for more than a year to get a decent computer and maybe some people in other poor countries would have to work 4 years for such computer than such computer is not compatible with such a life, try to focus on other things in life and make it fun!'
@Fatality92
Putting a file on internet is like putting your 1500$ new TV in the middle of a street and expect to find it there tomorrow.
Don't get me wrong, i don't support pirating but still there are situation where i find it legitimate: for example if the prices are not considering the region you live. It's kind of wrong making pay 50$ a game in a country where the medium salary is 200$. I think it's also legitimate if you have doubts about the system requirements. These are often wrong and you can play very well even above the minimum requirements, but not always so this being tricky about S.R. makes you often waste money.
But most of all, there are some laws (luckilly) that protects your privacy.
Dev can't really control you in any way and it would be morally wrong, but also if i'm a legitimate owner i would feel treated like a thief.
Steam can't ban an account in which there have been spent money. It would be like you steal that TV in the middle of the street and then the owner comes and takes it away, togheter with your computer, your phone, some chairs and your stereo.
