I see many people here are not aware of the origins of the events in 2014 . I found a movie on YouTube that you can watch with automatic subtitles. It shows well how everything happened from the very beginning
the film is tough, but it doesn't even show 10% of what was in reality

film based on real events

May 2014, Lugansk. Blooming edge. That spring turned out to be especially hot. Time to live — love, happiness and plans for the summer. And dreams that are not destined to come true. Summer changes everything — an unintentional feeling of hopelessness and anxiety, inevitably covering your head. A fragile world on the verge of war. A time that will completely change the lives of many people. Which of them will be broken by the new reality, and who will remain human until the end?

Don't run away now.

Lets give you some more of those bad facts you hate so much.
Pay attention the that last line that was written in 2014
Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk seems to have been spot on with his assessment of the situation.

The activists demanded that a referendum be held no later than May 11 on the possible secession of the Donetsk region, following in the footsteps of a similar move by Crimea in March.

The protesters, who police said were armed, erected a barricade of car tires and razor wire to keep security forces from retaking the building.

Speaking in a televised address, Ukraine’s acting President Oleksandr Turchinov called the events in the country’s east part of a Russian plot to foment unrest.

Pro-Russian activists seized government buildings in at least three cities on Sunday.

“Anti-terrorism measures will be adopted against those that took up weapons,” Turchinov said, adding that parliament would convene Tuesday to consider tougher penalties for separatist actions and even ban political parties that advocate separatism.

Earlier in the day, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk also accused Russia of being behind the unrest and of seeking to sow instability as a pretext for sending troops across the border.

by the way, all the actors of the film were included on the Ukrainian peacemaker website, where there is a list of those who need to be killed according to Ukrainian nationalists. The SBU first of all checks on this site, and if anyone gets caught at a checkpoint or at the border when crossing the border, they are taken away, tortured and killed

Strelkov is a volunteer and not an army employee. His squad did not wait for the nationalists to start burning people alive, created a squad, I support his actions
you're lying when you say that Strelkov was the first to start, the murder of the police on the Maidan. The protesters in Kiev decided for the people without a referendum. Don't be cunning
what Strelkov says is that it would have cost a little blood if not for his actions, this is his personal opinion. In reality, the nationalists would have started acting like Odessa and given the spread of the Russian language in the Donbass, they would not have stopped before the destruction of the entire population

From first subs in movie
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=51LWRrdmtBk

Аfter the coup d'etat on february 21, 2014, mass demonstrations began in eastern ukraine against the policy of the new regime, which violated the rights and freedoms of residents of this region. In response to this, on april 13, 2014, the national security and defense council of Ukraine decided to conduct an "anti-terrorist operation" (ATO) on the territory of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. In fact, under the guise of the anti-terrorist operation,large-scale military operations were organized by the ukrainian state bodies, which entailed the mass extermination of the civilian population. The Ukrainian authorities sent regular troops and volunteer battalions (the so-called "dobrobats") to the south-east of the country, most of which were criminal elements, looters and nationalists. In fact, the widespread genocide of the russian-speaking population has begun.

Punitive measures were used to intimidate civilians, including bombing residential areas from the air and ground. The so-called "wandering mortars" installed on civilian vehicles have gained particular popularity. As a result of the fighting on the territory of the donetsk and lugansk people's republics, according to official statistics alone, 6,255 people were killed, 127 of them children. According to the latest data from the office of the UN high commissioner for human rights, for the entire period of the conflict, from april 14, 2014 to march 31, 2020, the number of victims reached 44 thousand people.

Strelkov is an army veteran and ex-FSB officer. A nationalist and a warmonger as well.

As for Odessa, why don't you share with us the full story? Like who attacked pro-Ukrainian march and killed several of them? Or who was the one to start throwing molotovs from the roofs on civilians?
Why are you deliberately hiding the fact that it was the 'nationalists' who started rescuing 'innocent pro-Russian people' even before the firefighters arrived?

Strelkov is a professional in his field, that's all. It is unlikely that a teacher of russian language and literature could assemble a squad and lay down a hierarchy of subordination
It has long been sorted out, these were Ukrainian nationalists with George ribbons provocateurs, they needed a reason for mass slaughter. I did not see how cocktails were thrown from the roofs, I saw a live broadcast in 14, how people who were still alive were beaten with wooden clubs who escaped by jumping out of windows. How the woman screamed from the window, who was later found strangled , she was pregnant

Civilians fleeing Mariupol urged to make their own way out, as wet weather halts bus evacuations
(excerpt)

Civilians fleeing the besieged port city of Mariupol have been told to make their own way to the southeastern region of Zaporizhzhia, as wet weather has halted bus evacuations.

Buses are unable to travel through a washed-out section of road between the town of Vasylivka and Zaporizhzhia to its north, according to a social media post by Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk.

Instead, people leaving the cities of Mariupol, Berdiansk, Tokmak and Enerhodar have been told to travel to Zaporizhzhia themselves.

Five evacuation corridors have been set up in the Luhansk region of eastern Ukraine. All are directed toward Bakhmut, directly east of the town of Luhansk.

Vereshchuk called on Russia to respect the corridors. She added that the evacuation corridors in the Luhansk region "will operate subject to the cessation of shelling by the occupying forces."

Some context: Ukrainian officials have accused Russian forces of stalling evacuation efforts across the country.

Anglo-Saxons, their attitude has never changed. They don't even divide Ukrainians and Russians for them it's all one Slavic cattle.
A resident of Mariupol, Galina Stepanovna Poddubnyak, told me that in the hospital where she worked, there was a British "curator" of the unit of Azov, who directly told her about the Russian residents of Mariupol:
"You are inhumans, we will destroy you anyway... You - doctors - are needed now, and then you will not be there anyway."
"... I am a citizen of England, I don't have tattoos, this cattle in Azov does it, but we - the curators - don't."
https://t.me/boris_rozhin/41925

A French journalist after visiting Ukraine:
"I was surprised that in order to join the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, it needs to be done through the Americans. We were almost arrested. An American came up and said, "I'm in charge here, not the Ukrainians." He introduced himself. He's an Iraq War veteran. A report on this will be published in Figaro Magazine this week. He behaved rudely, at first he even wanted to kick us out. Ordered to get SIM cards from phones. We had to sign the contract before the end of the war. In general, Americans run there. Of course, unofficially.
... I thought that we would be with international brigades, but it turned out that with the Pentagon."
https://t.me/WarDonbass/56822

Just think about it and realize what is happening on the video.
Namely, with what cruelty and sadism a Kiev policeman beats a naked and immobilized GIRL. Perhaps she was also raped after that.
The terrible realities of the N - world state, which are unlikely to be shown in the West.

Russian cruiser Moskva "remains afloat," Russian Ministry of Defense says

For Russia, the story seems to be that a mysterious fire broke out and the vessel capsized due to bad weather.
Although it is not clear, Russia claims that the crew evacuated to another vessel.🤔
There is no conclusive evidence of this, although some Russian-affiliated Twitter feeds state that the armament is functioning and is being towed. (There appears to be no satellite photos yet.)

Hmm..
It appears to have finally sunk.

What happened to the sailors?
There is a story that more than a dozen people escaped in the boat shown on the screen and were housed on land, but the story of the other personnel is unknown.

Twitter has posted what is being reported in Russia, and I don't understand English, but from the audio vibe, I think it is being treated as a Ukrainian terrorist attack.

To think that this is the domestic voice of Russia makes me worry about who the "reporters" and "announcers" are being paid by. I would like to see a return to a state where the voice of the Russian people is easier to convey than the voice of the Russian government.
(Although some may have escaped Russia and gotten new jobs after claiming the truth on Russian TV.)

Things will become clearer with time....

Statements from new accounts or people who are not seen as active in the community are not immediately believed.
If the speaker has Twitter credibility or a strong commitment to the original source, you can trust them to some extent, but if it is not clear, it is best to wait and see.
After a week or so, additional information will become available.

Still, what I find strange about this image is that despite the damage to the part of the ship where there is seemingly no explosives, it sank even though there was no storm.
Russia admits the sinking, so it is true....
I can't help but wonder if it was defective, or if it was improperly stockpiled in a place where ammunition and fuel stockpiles should not be.
Until one day they are pulled up and investigated, that area will remain a mystery.

The first two stories share a narrative point. Every time you have a western villain saying Ukrainians are cattle. It makes no sens, even Putin himself does not admit that the Russians are his cattle.

About the last fake, as usual, you are trying to discredit any form of Ukrainian authority.
Instead, you should worry about the morality of Putin's soldiers . At this point, they have commited so many war crimes, including child rape.

The answer is - Vasya is a jerk. But his bad behavior can't be an excuse for your bad behavior. Being grown up is when you answer for you bad deeds by yourself.
As for your second questions - for example, USA provided humanitarian aid to post-soviet countries in 90s. Or are you too young to remember that? And, to begin with, win in WW2 would have been impossible without lend-lease from US too. So when some russian says "we defeated fascism in WW2" they always forget to add "but we would suck dicks instead without help from USA". That's a good part. They do a lot of shit too, I can't deny it. But once again, their shit can't be an excuse for your shit. Answer for your deeds, not for their.

Then what is the point of your comments then ?
What is the point of all the times you (or others on that matter) bring up Syria or Afghanistan ? Do you seriously think people don't know what went on there ? And what will change if someone suddenly goes - "oh no, USA is bad ? what now ?"

Same question - Stop and think for a second. What do you want to accomplish ? Will it help in stopping the war ? Will it change anything ? What's the point of all the time bringing up other conflicts ?

No one here is bringing up other Russian committed atrocities, because it has zero relevance to the war. Everyone already has forgotten how Putins lap dogs killed 300 civilians in Mali. It's horrible that people stay ignorant to conflicts around the world.. I agree about that .. But whether this is worse or not, the war is there.

The pretext of course is hidden behind propaganda of both sides, but the thing is - it's not a country plagued by civil war or terorist cells. What is being done is devastating to Ukrainians and Russians both. Russia is bleeding money, losing equipment and poor sods who don't know any better are being killed on frontlines not even realizing what they are doing. Ukrainian civilians are caught in the middle and have their homes and lives destroyed by a needless war. I'll indulge you and won't argue about situation in Donbass an Crimea since 2015. But if it was so horrible for Russian citizens, Russia could have easily invested the money and provided safety within Russia for the oppressed. EU instantly took in Ukrainians who fled the war - Russia pretends to "take in" people after they intentionally invade their country.

Diplomacy is how things are dealt with. Russia changed it's goals frantically - it's quit obvious the target was to have puppet government an have another dictatorship like Belarus near EU border and to have straight tap into resources of UA. And now they don't back out due to Putins ego. This is not the worst thing since Hitler, but it's the closest to destroying the balance that has been established since Nazis and Soviets stopped existing.

On April 14, 2014, Ukraine launched a war with Donbass.
My name is Seryozha and I am 8 years old
And the war in Donetsk also began 8 years ago. I want Russia to protect us from Ukraine, and for there to be peace.
In 2014 Ukraine launched a war with Donbass.
Russia will finish it in 2022.

"The arm won't grow anymore": a refugee from Mariupol told how Ukrainian militants crushed the shoulder of her eight-year-old grandson with a bullet.
The nationalists opened fire directly on the car with nine civilians in the cabin. In addition to the child, a pregnant woman received a gunshot wound

Ukraine has no right to have weapons and will be disarmed by force. Ukraine is not capable of negotiating and has not implemented the Minsk ceasefire agreements.

Ukraine bombed 100,000 civilians on the contact line with heavy artillery. Specially hit peaceful cities at that time while the militia were in the trenches far from the city. Everyone knows very well about this fact. Now the Ukrainian army is hiding in kindergartens in schools, in peaceful houses. Are you not aware of this?

Ukrainian war criminals are hiding behind elderly disabled people
"People were burning alive": a patient of a boarding house in the LPR told Zvezda how Ukrainian militants seized and equipped firing points in the building, and when leaving, set it on fire.
Several dozen people died in the fire - elderly and disabled people who could not move independently. LPR fighters pulled people out of the fire

Yeh, around here we don't call it "murder"..
If you attack someone with no reason it's called "senseless violence".
If the person protects himself it's called "self protection".
But as I understood, in Russia (the government) they don't understand those words.
And personally, yeh, I condone that they protect themself ofc. I am against any kind of war. (yes, also what Americans have done in the past)
But what can they do? Shoot or be shot, raped or deported..

And in all honesty, I highly doubt that ultra moderators can be influenced here. They act they way they see fit according how they interpretate the rules.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_companies_that_applied_sanctions_during_the_Russo-Ukrainian_War
I am guessing people from this site complained to all of these companies too to cancel whole Russia out of the world too? With no reason whatsoever?
Seems a lil far fetched to me. Also moderators and admins can read what you write you know? And they can think for themself without Russian "press".

And "protect Russians?" Sure normal civilians should be protected. But I am pretty sure the Ukraine is not invading Russia. So they don't need protection against the Ukraine. I do see refugees coming from Russia though, but because they want protection from the Russian government. Or do you see Ukraine soldiers shooting up your house or the hospital nearby?

This thread soon is going to turn into full fledged stand up by you and everyone laughing.

I don't doubt there are some bad apples, but until thus far there has been no problems in my city.... absolutely nothing of what you are trying to propagate here is true. And seems like others from around the EU seems to have the same experience. Only you and your RUS propaganda channels are trying to paint Ukrainians as some evil monsters......

Btw maybe you are not being told this - but west is slowly destroying every history piece that reminds us of atrocities USSR did. Up to this point most people just were content and let Russians be happy with their 9th May... not anymore :) You made Russians into the evil monsters not Ukrainians..... totally backfired

PS. personal experience - my local gym and a friend who works there are offering free subscriptions to Ukrainians. Yes - there have been Ukrainians coming non stop, but everyone is friendly and polite. Facebook is filled with Ukrainian women offering their pedicure or hairstyle services. Selling knitted stuff and other artistic things they make. These are people like us who have been brutally pushed out of their homes who are badly wanting to go back and see what will be the aftermath of Russian aggression.... lives ruined... over some sick propaganda which I'm afraid to think whether you truly believe ........

What do you think will be Putin's final legacy going forward?

It would be a message about the importance of "democracy" and the "fearful concentration of power and corruption" in any political system.
It would also be an opportunity to consider the involvement of national and religious organizations in the "press".
The "stories" that the people of the planet will see and hear will increasingly be told with "whatever content they want" at the cost of who pays for it.

What humanity inherently needs is neither a country nor politics.

It is simply to do no harm to our neighbors.

It seems outrageous that something that should come to the rescue in times of human misfortune and tragedy should do evil deeds.
It can be said to be electoralization through excessive ideology and religion.

Putin is doing (or is in the process of doing) his utmost to make his people, who have no interest in democracy or politics, aware of politics to the point that it is written into their genes.

In any case, I hope that no one will go hungry and that they will be able to spend their days with hygiene products, clothing, shelter, and the grace and luxury to think about what they want to do with their education.
In these "times" when we are like passengers on such a "shipwrecked" ship, it is good to think about "goals ahead". That is the only important part of not sinking into confusion and perplexity.

Inadvertently, I too will get tired of watching civilization go backwards for tens of thousands of years.

Yes, it's only ok to harm small countries at the other side of the globe, like Iraq, Syria, Lybia. But not a country in Eastern Europe. Well, except Yugoslavia, it's also ok to bomb and invade.
Basically it's OK to bully anyone ifyou're US or one of it's allies, since I don't remember international companies leaving USA, banks blocking their accounts, writers refusing to publish in US after each of their recent war escapades.

The West didn't start the War in Syria. Putins friend Assad slaughtered his people,it was a civil war, with bad motherfucking isis terrorists coming up from their caves to terrorize people, also.

Neither the West nor USA invaded Syria, RU however bombed Aleppo and other places to the grounds, like they do in Ukraine now. In fact the EU took shitloads of refugees coming from Syria. How many refugees did Mother Russia take from those places???

I also never heard of the West or US invading Lybia or Yogoslavia. Its also called civil war what was going on, with ethnics within the countries fighting against each other. they probably teach you something else in RU, blaming the West and US.

Iraq however was a different story. And its not like everyone in the West approved what the US did in Iraq. But everyone knows this, just like we know that Putin behaves like a Hitler type of mofo just now, and his propaganda works on his people very well, like Goebbel's propaganda worked on the German population.

It looks like we have a misunderstanding of what you call the Yugoslavia war and the stuff related to the Kosovo in 1999. For me the Yugoslavia war is what happened in the early 90s, when also refugees came here from this war, I also had a class mate that I became friends with who was a refugee. The conflict at Kosovo was years later, I even forgot about that miserable bastard Milosevic However, you make it sound like the NATO or US started the war (kosovo) which is not true, there have been conflicts in the country long before and genocide on the Muslim population has been taken place. In Ukraine its a different story though, your propaganda machinery suggests that there had been genocide going on and bullshit like that so that Putin could take over Crimea over night and secretly support the "separatists", which was the Russian army basically. They even shot a Dutch air plane that flew over their territory and as usually blamed the Ukraine. No offense but the way Russia treats everyone, you shouldn't be surprised the world turns against you except some other countries ruled by dictators of similar style as Putin. Taking money from the Western countries for oil and gas is fine enough for Putin, but threatening with nukes at the beginning of the Ukraine invasion kinda doesn't go along with good partnerships. Putin has been playing games with Western politicians they denied they would invade Ukraine but just waited for the Olympics to end. Yes the US did fuck up too and we know it all, and believe me,not everyone in the West is a US lover like you make it out to be, but at least they didn't deny obvious facts and their crimes like in that Iraq prison, or when their drones hit civilians and shit like that. Russia on the other hand is just denying everything, they don't do war, they don't bomb hospitals and kindergartens or train stations, they don't commit war crimes, they are the holiest people of mankind. All of this is happening because Mr. Putin is tied to his Soviet thinking. NATO was already brain dead a couple of years ago according to Macron, in Germany there has not been any forced military service for 15 years and now Putin throws the world back to cold war status, maybe even worse, because he can't accept the fact Ukrainian have their own identity and that even though they speak Russki, they don't wanna be Russians (and I can't blame them, as much as I can't blame you that you don't want to be some other nationality that you are clearly not) and instead want to stick with the West and join NATO (and again I can't blame them because of what they had experienced with Russia).

War is not fine. But when Russia does it, the world reacts like it's something unseen and unheard, a new kind of evil and not a thing "respectable" countries do every five years.

And it's not just forum talks - major companies closing their factories and shops, Hollywood refusing to sell their movies to the cinema theaters, book publishers cancelling their licenses, science journals refuse to accept Russian articles (even if they're biology, math or other science far from politics), Stephen King saying Russians shouldn't be allowed to read his new book.
Does it make people protest against the government? No, it makes people believe that propaganda is correct and the West does hate Russians as a whole, army and civilians, rich and poor, pro-government or opposition.

Just because the countries you mentioned did shit centuries ago it doesn't make it fine invading a souvereign country in Europe in the 21st century for made up reasons. If Putin and RU wouldn't have been such pathetic, distrustful bunch of liars in the past 15 years or so, it could have went a different way then it is now, though I don't know what else would be a better alternative. EU politicians tried to reach out to him before the war more than enough times, trying to find a diplomatic way. He and lawrow literally told everyone days just before the war that they would not invade the Ukraine. And just after the Olympic end he starts his show and threatens the countries with nukes if they interfere his plans. I mean what did you expect to happen? That everyone applauds to what this dictator does? Especially after we've seen what Putin did in 2014, there's no reason to further make business with somebody who could bomb your country the next day. Russia has always gotten away by baby sanctions after taking over Crimea and East Ukraine, it was just about time to do something, that really harms him. enough is enough. In my opinion those current sanctions are better than starting a war that nobody wants. It's bad for the people of course, but blame your leaders for this circumstances. You'll be living like in North Korea if you keep this government, and I know there is no way for you guys to get out of this unless some brave guy stabs this mofo in the back or something. We're getting closer to the 8th May, everybody knows that Putin now at least wants to cash in the whole East of Ukraine so he has at least something to present his people on this day. Hopefully Ukraine can stand the incoming attacks, its gonna be very heavy, for both sides. If Russia decides to throw nukes, its gonna be the end of the world as we know it. I sincerely hope, this will not happen.

Zelensky tells CNN world should be prepared for possibility Putin could use nuclear weapons
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky told CNN Friday that "all of the countries of the world" should be prepared for the possibility that Russian President Vladimir Putin could use tactical nuclear weapons in his war on Ukraine.

Zelensky told CNN's Jake Tapper in an exclusive interview from the office of the president in Kyiv on Friday that Putin could turn to either nuclear or chemical weapons because he does not value the lives of the people of Ukraine.

"Not only me — all of the world, all of the countries have to be worried because it can be not real information, but it can be truth," Zelensky said, speaking in English.
