Well, as caio predicted, I'm making a "back from Rome" thread. I've actually been back for several weeks, but I am extremely slow.

I won't give a boring recap of the trip; I will just say two things:

First, there is no food in the world that's better than Roman gelato. There may be some food as good as gelato in Rome, but there is not -- cannot possibly be -- anything better.

Also, it was really nice to spend a few days on a different continent. Living in the USA, it's easy to think that we're the center of the world. I never believed it, but it was awesome to see firsthand that it's not true. We're all just citizens of the world. Our success or our failure on this planet lies together, not apart. I hope we can figure that out eventually.

Okay, now on to the stuff people really care about: the photos, and the giveaways!

Photos are here. (Unfortunately they are in random order. I do plan to organize them and add descriptions eventually... but don't hold your breath).

Giveaways start here and end on March 19th, Level 1.

Welcome back!
Had a tour of Italy myself last summer, and must say that while I ate gelato in a lot of different places, I never did so in Rome. :P

Welcome back canis39!

I'm glad to see you had a fun time.

We are indeed all in this together; we're all passengers on Spaceship Earth.

Nice pics, I think I've been to 90% of the places shown. I did expect more gelato pics. ;)

Also nice to see you flew via Amsterdam.

"Now there is one outstandingly important fact regarding Spaceship Earth, and that is that no instruction book came with it."

Great photos! I see you were near Pantheon. Did you wander into the gelateria nearby or you chose a different one?

I did get gelato from a place close to the Pantheon, but I don't remember which one.

The only thing I know for sure is that it wasn't the place that Smollo recommended because I walked past that place as I was already eating gelato from somewhere else!

I don't remember the name of the place I've been, unfortunately. I just know there were like hundred or more gelati on display :D It was very hard to decide which one you wanted!

I think that was the place that Smollo recommended! I remember passing by and being amazed by the number of flavors! All the places I went had maybe 20-30 flavors to choose from, and that was hard enough for me!
