I plan to make announcements in the Steam group, should trigger a pop-up notification to all members.
Also, I think you get a notification on dA whenever a new blog post is made (not sure about this though)

On a side note: May I suggest the option of a random medium/style (that is traditional and digital art friendly) that goes along with the monthly theme to encourage members to experiment? For example: The next month's theme is the meaning behind [a particular type of] flower. (Optional... Side Quest [of sorts!]) Abstract painting... in watercolor. hahaha.
I'll take note of that~ I used to upload some of my work in image storage sites, but they eventually got deleted. I suppose I'll need to change my save space to Dropbox or something lol :p
As for the current theme, I'm SO glad you've listed some examples for us on dA!!! I've decided to include the SG mascot space kitty on my painting +_+. Even though I've never painted cats before (I've shown to my friends on my WIP and one of them said it looks like a koala XD I might've added a few more pounds to the kitty. Too much lasagna, I guess.)

oh, that's a nice idea.
My idea was to range from generic to more detailed themes from month to month, but giving both an easy and an harder one could do it too :) Or an extra theme, as per your "side quest" :)
I don't know about the media restriction though, 'cause I don't already know if everyone wants to join with a drawing (I, for one, would like to participate with drawings, photos and who-knows-what-else) ..there could be carpenters, writers, sculptors among us and we don't know it yet =P we'll see what happens :)
Those were more intended to make you smile, didn't want to influence anyone's mind! =P but they can also be useful, I guess XD

Yay, I knew the years of experience of relentlessly running back and forth between quests in RPGs would serve me well!

I have never used Deviantart before, I mostly put my work on Tumblr. This is making me really want to try though, having a prompt to draw every month would really push me to be less lazy.

The group has been alive for a year yet only a single entry have been submitted (other than mine).
I think we can safely say that the experiment failed, so I'm going to close this.
If any of you is interested in trying this stuff again, message me, I'll be glad to give you the group so you can do things your way :)

Once there, post or send a note (either to me or to the group) with a link to your steam account. this is needed to
Step 2: Ask to join the Steam group
It's not a public group to avoid people entering for giveaways. Since we are at it, let me state it clearly: this is not a group for giveaways! sure, there would probably be some in the future, but its main focus is create and share our works :) don't want people to join to be able to enter 1-2 more giveaways one day.
I would have avoided the Steam group altogether but the dA one doesn't have a "public" forum, only one for admins (don't know why).
Step 3: don't get too hyped.. this could end up being a total flop, with only me in the group
but hey! also me winning all of the themes then! :D
Step 4: Profit!
