I just stumbled upon this cosplay photo in my activity feed and I have to say I'm shocked at the resemblance which is miles ahead of anything else I've seen so far. As far as I'm concerned this could very well be a screenshot from The Witcher 4 running on a better engine. Could anyone that's perhaps a bit more familiar with the cosplay scene tell me if it's likely to be heavily photoshopped?

Compare to any of the pictures at Best Yennefer of Vengerberg Cosplay from The Witcher

Not especially familiar with the cosplay scene but quite familiar with Photoshop and I can't see any evidence of heavy Photoshopping. Just really good work, attention to details and great use of lighting, makeup and shadows. The face was probably smoothed to get that CGI effect (game characters rarely have pores) but besides that, no.
Real cool job

That's just an example of being weird because it looks unnatural imho.

Here are some better pores for you

Heh I know, right? We got used to CGI humans having a plastic smooth skin because any kind of texture makes the rendering of each frame so long, it just would take years to do anything (not to mention in games, you'd need a futuristic rig to run it).
It's starting to change with gazillion dollars movie budgets like Avatar or Tintin (because they did it by hand!) but even in movies, skin stays very smooth so it's weird when it's closer to reality: imperfect.

Interesting. I'm familiar with neither but this almost looks too good to be true to me, that's why I had to ask. I wonder if there are more examples out there with this striking degree of likeness.

MIlliganVIck's models wear super heavy makeups to get that 'flawless' look. Ofc, theres high quality cameras and some touch ups there as well --and that the models are mostly russian--. Came to knew about them from their Dota photoshoots.

So you're attracted to makeup and not the people wearing it?

Fans of fantasy/sci-fi can easily be attracted to hot people wearing full face masks unlike those discriminating people. :)

Ok, you're not a fan for some yet undetermined reason. I assume the makeup is in place to accentuate the likeness of the character she is trying to represent. Would you agree that overall that goal is well accomplished?

Ok, I assumed that "not a fan of any these cosplays" meant you think the girl I'm specifically mentioning in my post did a bad job representing Yennefer and I couldn't really wrap my head around that.

Idk. Doesn't look like that much. The nose is totally different. Also eyebrows and cheeks. (Probably the jaw and the face shape overall as well, can't say for sure from this angle).

Also, google contouring makeup. That's some crazy shit :)

UPD:
Yup, the face shape's different :) Model's name is rgtcandy if anyone's interested.

Also, the photographer has some really deceptive game-ish looking photos.

So you're saying if she didn't try to look like Yennefer she wouldn't. You're probably right but as far as I am aware this is the whole point of cosplay
