Does your Gothic 1 & 2 start in offline mode?Mine start (i see the processes in Task Manager) but stopps at various memory numbers...and nothing...and i cant do it like on Divine Divinity either(when that one isnt working i run it from Start/Games shortcut) when i try that on Gothic 1 it's Application load error 5:0000065434,same with Gothic2. Why can't i play Gothic 1 & 2 in offline mode but Gothic 3 works?and probably 4 too....I disabled the steam interface for Gothic 1 since it crashes anyway if window pops up etc..

I haven't any steam versions of Gothic 1 or 2, but I heard that you have to manually update to the latest released version, maybe this helps to sort out your issues.

If you run the Steam Client in offline mode the game shouldn't crash though, the client should report the game as non supported or just run it.

Yeah also read in other places that error when i try the shortcut made in Games from Startmenu, might be caz its installed on another partition instead of the one with steam.Idk are we allowed to use higher number patches if there are any, other than steam's base version?

I think you have no problem to manually update it with an official patch. Gothic 3 and Gothic 3 Forsaken Gods patches was clearly released separately for the Steam version too. You can see here for example, who is suggesting to apply a newer patch is from Nordic Games (latest Gothic 3 version is 1.75 now, it isn't up to date).

I don't remember which version you need for Gothic 1, but you can take a look in worldofgothic.com or in steam forum.

I found out .So Steam beeing online & than clicking exit is bad for some games when you wanna go somewhere & you don't have an internet connection ,it's useful to enter offline mode instead of exit when ur in online mode. That one helped & i could start Gothic 1 in offline mode.
