They are very different.
Pokemon, the anime revolves around Ash catching pokemons and trying to get all the gym badges with some fun adventures in between.
Digimon, the anime revolves around real world and digimon world and numerous main characters trying to save both,
Digimons could talk, unlike pokemon which added something to the show. The story was more mature and interesting, with better antagonists which were rather dark and evil unlike antagonists in Pokemon (Team Rocket) which were kind of a joke. Their main purpose was to add some more comedy to the show, instead of being true antagonists.
Overall Digimon was more mature and overall had more depth both when it comes to story and characters and their development.

I didn't like Digimon World 1 because digimons would die of age. I HATED that feature. I liked everything else though but the age feature just ruined the game for me. My favorite is Digimon World 3. I also liked Digimon World DS and Dusk/Dawn even though their digivolution system was a bit annoying.

Yeah, I was sad when my digimons died of age but at the same time it was a good oportunity to try to get a better digimon. Indeed, DW3 is great, I still remember Zanbamon, he killed me so many times xD.
I didn't played Dusk/Dawn, but I will someday.

Sounds promising, but I'm going to rage if it ends up doing a "Black(X)mon counts as separate Digimon!" thing again, like Cyber Sleuth.
I've only played... Digimon World 1 and honestly did not care for it at all, but this new one I might give a chance to because it looks very nice! Oh but maybe I should first get that PS4 before I think about getting a Digimon game for it... :P

Digimon World 1 was my least favorite. I really liked 2, 3 and card battle. I've spent hundreds of hours playing them.
Although i don't have any console past PS2, I am always happy when a new digimon game is made. Even if i can't play it.
Imo, they deserve to be as popular as Pokemon
