Money is useful to access the things that we enjoy, but if we give up the things we enjoy then money by itself will give us no joy.
So I guess I'd need to be pretty desperate for cash at that moment to agree to this faustian deal.

Well said!

This is exactly why I always hated when people say money cannot buy happiness.

With 100k dollars, the first thing I'd do, is buying a super expensive PC so I could play all the gam... oh, wait ...
I'll vote for No ...

At the rate that the games are coming out and the list of "to play" that I have accumulated, maybe in 2050 we can talk

I can't buy games but I can still get free games and gifts. I also have around 1000 games in my library I haven't played yet. I vote yes

It says you can't play any games, not just buy. So your library would be off limits.

Frankly, I'm not sure. This money could help me build a better life that won't require huge doses of anti-depressants (because that's what games are for me first and foremost), so it would make sense to agree. But I'm not sure I'd be strong-willed enough to abandon my drug, I'm seriously hooked.

depend on country, 100k is only 2 years of salary in US/European/1st countries so it's not worth it, but in my 3rd world country it will take us nearly 40 years to obtain that amount of money, something that must be considered

Exactly! If we use regional pricing, I'm sure a lot more people will accept this offer when we start to talk about millions.

Yes in fact i would be better off without gaming :) No doubt i would pretty fast pick up new hobbies and discover more about life :) I'm pretty much saturated when it comes to playing games. I'm not addicted to computer games anymore, like i was before. BTW can i spectate games, like Twitch?

Does this include board games, card games, sports, party games etc? Or just video games?

Either way, I'd need way more than that to give up one of my favorite hobbies. 100k isn't all that much in this day and age.

This! If video games, I would actually take this. but if it includes anything other you mentioned, then no.

I would still take it if it included all that.

Hell no! Games are my favorite artistic medium, and that's not much money at all.
I love gaming with all my heart. I can't imagine going without the absolute wonder of a great videogame.

missed what? there is precisely 0 things worth watching on the TV at least here that I couldn't watch elsewhere.
not watching tv doesn't automatically mean you're not watching films or shows. and that should be painfully obvious now that we live in an era of everyone and their dog having a streaming service. In 2006, yeah, maybe that'd have been less obvious but even back then there were ways to watch TV "without a TV"...

no offence but i still count streaming or even Youtube as a sort of TV

Ooof... If it was 1,000,000 I would, but for 100,000? No way.
I get way too much enjoyment out of videogames (I don't play board or card games irl; but I do have a DS and such.) to give that up.

There is a wise saying in Japanese said by well-respected Brazilian-Japanese descent Sensei Yuu Kamiya, "ノーゲーム・ノーライフ" which means "no game no life". It has a profound meaning that somewhere out there someone is trying to stay alive by playing a game, since everything in life itself is decided by a game to make a world with no war, no killing, no stealing.

sorry IDK what I'm saying, just wanna say: Just kidding its an anime title.

your not poor if you can't afford games - also if you watch twitch i recommend watching hitsquad godfather where you can earn free points and claim games for steam for nothing more than running the stream in the background (i have it on now with the sound down) also have a white list
