No never had to create an account in the first place.

All you had to do was click the large image and a new window/popup would open with the key (the window is now blank, probably deactivated or out of keys)

Other keys probably work, seem to be retail/ cd keys. Confirmed Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter. Borrowed 2nd hand copy of old game, installed with serial from gamestar.de website, logged in to game spy and could play online.

Also the Genesis Rising key seems like it would be pretty useless. That was in a Bundle Stars bundle before, but according to my research on steam and elsewhere the online servers are shutdown on gamespy, so there is no online multiplayer, and the latest patch to the game removes any drm/cd check( I think the serial is used for online only regardless), so they key is pretty useless. i.e. you could play the game one player (or LAN via tunngle or w/e) without a key anyway...

Securom, or ordinary, old-fashioned cd-keys. Which means they're useless unless you have a game on disc, I think.

Go download the iso for the game, then you can use the key at install. This wouldn't be illegal as you got the key through legal channels.

Actually, you can activate it in Uplay. In the most recent update they added in an "activate product" option that you can access via the gear. That said, the key itself might not work now. Many have already been used.
