Hello there,
I have a rather annoying problem, in my group, I have 787 members counted by on sg, but on the official group page on steam, there are actually only 599 members. Who are these extra members? People who have been kicked, months ago. I often go through the pages to catch people who are using the group improperly, and when I see multiple people on EVERY PAGE that are inactive, it's annoying. (going through 188 extra members, just to find the inactive ones still in the group.)

So, I thought of a solution that I think would be welcome.
Could there be Group refresh buttons? One for every group, for only the creator of that group to use to force sync everyone's in the groups accounts here on sg, at least once a month. So you could only click the button once a month, (or three months) to clean out the inactive members.
OR give support members the ability to force sync groups via ticket request.
OR have permabanned SG members to have their "groups" reset/zeroed out upon being banned.

If you have any additional ideas, I would love to hear them, or something to add on.

Please consider this. Would make life so much easier.

Also, if you could please bump the topic. <3

Thanks for reading!

One solution is the possibility for group owner to kick people out of the group on SG, without any refresh button.

Even more radical solution would be to automatically 'hide' people from all the groups on sg every [month, X months, etc.] and give users option to 'reconnect' to group giveaways by pressing button on own pages (AND syncing at this moment), so that inactive people drop out and no one can reconnect if they are kicked out in Steam group.

Could you elaborate on the second part?

Problem:
Belonging to a group on SG enables user to see/participate in this group's giveaways. Unfortunately belonging changes only when user themselves syncs with SG (by their own will, pressing a button) and user, even kicked out of Steam group, who hasn't synced is still a member of group on SG. Inactive users remain in SG group listing, which is inconvenient.

Background:
There is the sync system implemented on SG. It resets for every user some 'sync' variable either periodically (lets say every week/month/etc) or when user tries to enter any giveaway and auto-check shows that last sync was done earlier than some time window (week ago/month ago/etc). Either one of these works now, probably latter, doesn't matter which exactly.

Proposed solution:
Group 'visibility' can work on similar principles, and for all user's groups simultaneously. At some point of time (but not dependent on user's entering GA, as it may never happen; likely, periodical server event for checking users), inactive user's account becomes flagged as 'outdated' and user gets 'hidden' from all their group user lists, which is equal to being removed from groups (but if necessary, there can be kept some local variables about user statistics in groups: given/received etc).
Optionally, group giveaways can be also hidden from user, may they log in to SG after a long time, but this is unnecessary as sync should be required to enter any GA

Discussion:
This doesn't solve problem with recently kicked users entering giveaways, but how it helps with people who don't login to SG:
1) Eventually inactive user disappears from SG group user lists. (User will not be seen by any group member. No need to create separate interfaces for Steam group creators and probably even moderators)
As a bonus, this doesn't require a user to be absent from Steam group. It cleans out all the inactive users.
2a) If such a user logs in SteamGifts [after a long pause], they are not in any groups on SG. After syncing they will be re-added to every SG group corresponding to their Steam group list, which is one of sync's tasks already.
2b) If user doesn't log in (more particularly doesn't resync), they can still appear in Steam group listing. It is choice of every group creator what they want to do. Probably if user didn't deserve a kick out, it makes no harm just to do nothing and to let user resync to group if they will return after a long time. Or periodical cleaning can be done. Anyway in Steam, creator(s) are free to do as they like.

Conclusion:
Everyone is happy and enjoying life. Steam support doesn't need to do anything. No one is force-synced by other users/against their will. Steam group creators basically don't need to do anything either and are in a full control, only having to wait some grace period for kicked/inactive users to sync themselves before they automatically disappear from SG list.
