Just checking because I thought I remembered a few years ago a psa on using games from humble bundles to boost your level as a no no. So just checking.. What's the command to hail a mod? /summon mod

Ain't a mod, but on this site there is literally the term 'farming CV' for when you buy those ridiculous dollar bundles off of other sites just for levelling, and it's not like that's banned here in any form.

So for Humble bundles that are usually actually decent games people want to play? Of course it's allowed. The Humble Monthlies are also not considered 'bundled' games -- meaning they don't get a reduction in adding to your CV -- so they're pretty popular here.

Perhaps you're thinking SG 1.0, way back when (as I've been informed by others) only unbundled games were allowed?

If we couldn't give away games from Humble, this site would be a lot smaller.

It is allowed but be sure keys still could be activated cause most of digital keys have short lifetime (it's usually from some days to 1 year).

Humble frowns upon people using their keys for "public" gifting/trading and they won't assist you with replacing a broken key if they figure out you were trying to give it away on Steamgifts, but you're free to give away any valid key and gift on here. And as long as you use newly created giftlinks or make sure the key is still valid you shouldn't run into any problems whatsoever.

In the old days, there were restrictions on giveaways involving "free" and "bundled" games. However, with our New and Improved SteamGifts 2.0™, many of those restrictions have been lifted. If you can find it in the list of available giveaways, you may create a giveaway for it.* Those which do not appear in the list are not available for giveaways.

*(Please note that CV for a particular product may be adjusted based on market value.)

Just be sure to create Humble gift links-- do not create a key and then add the key to the giveaway. This is in accordance with Humble policies and should avoid any risk of them thinking you're selling keys. Key word: should

Really? I heard it was the opposite - that if you try to send a gift link and DON'T reveal the key and something gets screwy, Humble gets mad at you.

The vast majority of my giveaways are from humble, and I've had 0 problems making the GA, attaching the key, and the winner redeeming that key. Then again, I've always made my giveaways within a day or two of me purchasing those keys, and all the problems I've heard come from people whose keys have been sitting for a while.

Using your keys quick-like seems to be the safest overall solution

If you send a gift link, then the recipient should redeem the gift link and reveal (and activate) the subsequent key. If you send a gift link and they don't ultimately reveal the key then...how do they activate it? I'm not sure I'm following, "if you try to send a gift link and DON'T reveal the key [...]"

There are several threads on the matter (most recently this one as far as I know), and I can certainly imagine there being conflicting information/advice. But my understanding is that Humble purchases are supposed to be for "personal use only," unless you create a Humble gift link to give to a friend. I think if you generate a key, that key is supposed to be activated on your account.

You know? That makes a lot of sense, Trent my friend. I just love the elegance of sending keys through the site, though, so I'll probably continue living on the wrong side of Humble Support

If you create gift links, HB can probably see who accepted the gift. If you send 100 gift links and they were accepted by 100 different accounts, then it's obvious that you are not gifting to "friends & family". And if too many gift links are left unaccepted for too long, it also gives an impression that they are meant for resell.

You either use keys and HB can't track its use, but have hard time with support, or use gift links and HB can track its use, but might have it easier with support (until they catch on that something looks fishy).

Well, all I know is that you're supposed to use gift links for gifts, so I've created hundreds of gift links for giveaways. I have requested support in the past from Humble, and they have never accused me of anything. YMMV.

Yes, I know. The gift links are supposed to be gifted imitatively.

After a month I forgot which gift link was for which game and I contacted support to identify them and they reminded me that the gift links are supposed to be sent directly to the giftee, not to your email address and then the link to the final recipient. But they still helped me.

This anecdote has nothing to do with tracking, but the potential that then know that you are actually "not gifting then as they want" is there.
But yes, for now, I would say gift links are safer.

Humble store giveaways were the only ones I noticed having any rules about them, and I think even that was lifted recently.

Is it allowed to giveaway humble bundle keys and games?

From SG's standpoint it is.
From HB's standpoint it isn't.

Oh, I found something which might be what you're getting mixed up with? Indiegala apparently has some sorta giveaway restrictions like that.

It's specifically about not being able to create GAs for Humble games that have been offered for free, though. So... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
