another HUNDRED? Geez. I'm sure there are some good games, but I bet there's a lot of garbage in there too.

Yup. Hopefully the good outweighs the bad, though. :)

Seeing that LIMBO ripoff getting greenlight made me lose all hope in Greenlight...

Im probably missing something here but....is this how its supposed to work? So whenever a new batch is released, few of those shit games will move slightly to the top. And if you consider how Valve turns the blind eye for the greenlight vote begging/rigging at the moment ("heres some AAA giveaway but upvote our game while youre at it/upvote our game and get a free steam key when greenlit"), seems like even the worst games will pass greenlight eventualy with enough marketing and PR behind them. That just doesnt seem right

I think the point of Greenlight is not to prevent bad games from appearing in the store (because they're there since long before Greenlight), but to give a chance to good ones that otherwise couldn't make it to the store.

Valve itself said that it knew Greenlight was a flawed process and were trying to think of something better.
At least it allows good games to also come to Steam. A few of my favorites actually were greenlit this time.

Before Greenlight, a small number of Valve operatives were flooded with dozens of new games applying for Steam everyday. They were refusing a good number of them based on reasons unknown to us. Some developers were telling how they finally got into Steam by sending the same game every week for a year again and again. A lot of people were complaining how so many great games were being refused into Steam.

Then Valve came up with the Greenlight to let people decide which games they want in Steam. The 100 games they greenlit above were (almost) the top 100 most popular games in Greenlight amongst 1500~ games waiting for their turn. All with 10-15k votes of people saying "Yes, I would buy this game if it was on Steam."

A game being sold in a store isn't about how good that game is based on my, your, or her tastes. It is about how many people tell that store owner that they want to buy that game. It is not a contest that is about fairness with judges and rules and everything. It is about promoting your product, big companies promote their games with expensive CG videos made by huge teams with eye-popping costs, they throw parties, events, make huge boots that cost more than sports cars on conventions. Small indie developers have very small budgets to promote their games, they make giveaways on sites they love instead.

I agree, but valve let's many bad games on steam without greenlight all the time. (See badrats, revelations 2012, WarZ, etc). And some triple A games are pretty shit too sometimes.

Valve is just weird. Still no idea why Deadly Premonition had to be green lighted.

Meh. The only thing I see in that list that looks remotely good is Spintires.

Looking at this list... Is it me or people vote on bundle games just to get Steam keys and a larger e-peen? They are a lot (not all of course) of bundle games which are crap and still get greenlit... While great games like the Black Mirror series are still unavailable on Steam!

I forgot Parallax was even there, it was so long since I voted for it, same for Probability 0. And I thought Oozi was greenlit already?
