I can't believe in this. From all 216 games that I own I have actually bought only 20 of them with real money. Most of them I got is won on giveaway sites, grabbed a key drops or traded with cards or other things that I got for free. Steam is the best thing ever!

Should I be ashamed :( ? I would contribute more but I can barely afford any new games myself.

Well, some of them proud to be a leecher. I saw a guy with 10 giveaways and about 150 won here on SG.

Well, let's be truthful... You were able to get a PC, there's no way you can't afford a $5 game. NO WAY.

A PC can last you many years. Over those years, your financial situation can change, sometimes drastically. Having a good PC says nothing about your current ability to spend $5 frivolously, or not. Also, you could have always been poor, yet saved up $5 every week over 5 years or something, to be able to finally build a decent PC. Having <x> item of worth doesn't magically always mean someone is financially solvent.

Winning games on SG does not make one a leecher, just a lucky bastard.

From the 32 I own, I'd say about half of them (that's 16).

now people might look at you as a leecher

edit: for my library most are bought by myself so far i've only won 5 games from steamgift and i hardly care about trying to ninja keys

But how many of those games will you ever care to play for enjoyment (rather than to get cards or achievements from playfire or whatever)?
Most of my steam account (and probably the main reason I keep it active) is for my bundle keys.

I don't know, I don't think majority of people enter giveaways just because they want the game.

On steamgifts? What are you going to do if you win a game you didn't care about and will probably never play? That'd just depress me :D.

Yes, why enter for something you don't want to play at all, when someone else would enjoy it far more. I can understand thinking you'll play a game and then it happens you don't like it - you did not know you won't like it - but entering for something you know upfront that you will not play... that is rude.

Almost ALL of them(278). Many I got from bundles(Humble, Indie Gala, Bundles Stars), others from sites sites such as Amazon, Gamersgate, Greenmangaming, Nuuvem, GameFly and even Borderlinx, not very many from the actual Steam store, all at big sales, NEVER at full retail price, but all paid for. Even the ones I got trading on SteamTrades, I traded other actual games for them, so I still consider to have paid for them. The only games I ever got for free are the two I won here(Septerra Core and Sniper Ghost Warrior 2), Blockstorm as a thank you gift from Indie Gala, the three which were given away by Steam(Left 4 Dead 2, Red Orchestra 2 and Sniper Elite V2) and 4 games which a friend of mine gifted to me over the years, without me actually asking for them(Velvet Assassin, Hammerfight, Alpha Prime and Ravensword: Shadowlands).

Out of 551 games inmy library, I estimate I paid for 95% of them. But my library current worth is $6890.49 and my expenses on it are around $1000 in the course of 8 years - including large number of purchases in pre-bundle era.
It's worth mentioning the current trend. With majority of most wanted titles already in library and development of steam market, I was able to limit my spending this year to $20 of actual money so far. The rest of it - around 50 bucks - were funded by steam market :)

$1 tier bundles - like 15 so far. Other than that i bought Counter-Strike. Everything else i buy is for sg giveaways.

Paid for every single one except the ones I actually won from here (And mind you, those weren't just public giveaway wins. Some of the wins were from brain-wrecking puzzles)

So that's like 91.5% I guess (22 won out of 258 total games)

Most of the games I have on steam are from bundles. So I've bought most of them, though I've won a few here, and got about 20-30 as gifts from friends.

About 1000.

1132 games on Steam, 102 won on here. Got a few from Tremor Games, a couple from key drops and 3 for getting my graphics card. Some other assorted freebies too. I think I'll revise that down to 950-975, something like that.

Probably like a total of 10 or 15 store bought games at the most.

Out of the 215 games I have, I'd say I didn't have to pay for 90 of them. Most were gifted to me as thanks for getting someone a gift first. There were also some I got from ninja'd key drops, Website or Steam promotions, trades during Steam Christmas Sale 2011, steamgifts, gameminer.ru, and the occasional random act of kindness.

Probably bought 90%+ of the games in my collection. That's also excluding past games before the time of Steam. Have my original Duke 3d mousepad and CD-Rom still. Great times in PC gaming.

This, sir, brought a tear to my eye. The mid-90s were a stellar time in PC gaming history. I could list so many reasons/games/computers/consoles why.

According to SGv2:
708 games, valued at $7,708.55.

Most of that is actually purchased, though.
