Also I read it being referring to +1 in your game library. Is that a different meaning? Just curious.

  • 1 until I figured it out which caused a -1, but due to memory issues I must say +1 yet again.

When somebody comments +1 here on the forums it means somebody else has already said what the other person wanted to say and they completely agree with them.

When somebody talks about a +1 to their Library it usually means a game that is never intended to be played but just ment to increase the size of ones Steam Library.

Of course. It's always good to ask. Specially when a place has so many rules, unwritten rules and quirks like we do, here on SteamGifts ;)

Yeah, pretty much.

Other possible variations are ^ and "this".

It means that they share a similar viewpoint or agree (whether partially or completely) with whatever they are replying to.

In message boards and forums, it ussually means "I agree with last comment" or "I have the same opinion as last comment".

In Steam profiles and similar things, it usually means "I give you one point of reputation", because there usually isn't a reputation system or something like that...

Are you new to the internet ? It's just a short way of saying that you agree with a previous post/reply or that you think the same.

"+1 in your game library" is just what it says, one more game towards your library count, which adds experience to the game collector badge, they're unrelated.

As I stated above I figured that but I wanted to be sure. Geez. Smh.

You know. I may not have been sure what +1 means but I definitely know what Blacklist means. Have 1!

A bit touchy, are we ? :) You see, the thing I like about blacklists is that they go both ways. So, thanks, I guess, for locking yourself out of my future giveaways, saves the effort^^

Just a suggestion but as long as somebody still answers your question you might wanna allow them a little bit of attitude while doing it ;) It might sound a little rude at first but for internet standards, it's not. Also often too much time on forums is bad for the mood. I know I've been there.

Thats why I dont. Ive seen to many chats and forum posts that make me quit the internet for the day. Was hoping I was safe here from that but ive been taught otherwise. But hey. Thats what blacklists are for

There're tons of awesome, likeminded people here but this place can also be gruesome.

Just wait until you see somebody begging for free games or advertising their shitty CS GO Lottery group on the forums. We LOVE to throw stones at those :D

Just genuinely intrigued that someone who uses online forums wouldn't be familiar with the expression. It has been around for a long time now, before even Reddit or 4chan were a thing, so popular, in fact, that it made it to the dictionary (French) :

Plussoyer

Plussoyer = could be translated as : to "plus"/"+1" someone.

It also reminds me of the old phrase "I second this motion."

It's "Upvote" in English. :)

It's not really a thing on Facebook

Facebook has the "Like" button; some sites have a +1, some have a heart button, some have a thumbs up (and down), some have ^ (and v), and so forth- but they all serve an identical purpose of acting as an upvote and raising the upvote counter of that post.

It's hard to find many social, news, review, or blog sites without that function associated with them in some manner, these days.

Yeah, I noticed YummyCore's comment later and realized the lack of a like button is the reason we have +1s here while Facebook doesn't.

And while I understand why many people don't want like-whoring here, like they do on Imgur and many other sites, I still often find +1 useful because often when you ask a question you get 3 completely contrary answers so if one of those answers has 5 +1s while the others don't it helps to tell who actually knows what they're talking about.

This isn't the kind of site where upvote functionality would serve any real beneficial purpose (since we don't have weighted page sorting or a Q&A-based, or popularity-based core site concept), and we've enough stat-based drama on this site as-is. Ideally, if someone asks a question on SG they'll update their OP's description with an indication of what they went with, but that's about the best we can hope for here (though, of course, we can freely open our own threads [or piggyback the current thread if it's still active] if we still have questions).
On the other hand, since +1s aren't too common on SG, when people DO post supportive or contrary comments, they tend to go into more detail than comments on the typical +1/-1 site do (excluding those sites specifically dedicated to Q&A formats). ..Y'know, when commenters are not ignoring the topic entirely, instead focusing their attentions on leaving comments insulting you for daring to have blacklisted them for their previous hatespeech, entitlement, or rulebreaking. :P

Pre-shredded cheese isn't so bad. If we wanna talk culinary atrocities let's do something about spray cheese :D

But what really flabbergasted me was when my buddies and I went shopping to cook Chili and they wanted to (and did) buy pre-diced onions. I didn't even know those were a thing. I mean seriously... How lazy can a person be ? :D

Interesting. I never managed to find a supermarket during my only stay in Amsterdam so I didn't notice.

I'd personally rather do it myself. I'm a bit particular about my food, so if possible I don't want others to touch it unnecessarily (not relevant here since it's done by machines) plus it's fresher that way.
