Hello everyone, I was just curious to see if some of you have special perks that go along with what you do for work. For example I work at a furniture consignment store building, delivering and picking up furniture all day. Well every once and a while someone wants a particular piece of furniture gone from their home that our store cannot sell so we are basically given dibs on what we want. Not all the time does this happen but when it does it is awesome :D

Now, id love to hear if you guys have anything like that or get anything special out of where you work sometimes :D

I actually really like lactaid. More than regular milk. It's sweeter.

But regular milk makes me feel like I'm dying so.

I unexpectedly got full health/vision/dental benefits for 7 months, then found out it was a clerical error and I lost it.

Plot twist: They just sent me a letter saying that they terminated my benefits in error and that I can now re-enroll in it.

Working from home pretty much whenever I like it (I'm more efficient working in the office though, so I don't abuse it); Being able to shift my work hours early or late to avoid traffic; traveling to many countries (more than 20 in the past 10 years or so). Did I mention I love my job?

When I'm working as a teacher a nice extra I sometimes get is free textbooks. Publishers send them to me as samples, even though I don't ask for them. Usually they can be sold for a bit of cash.

There are a bunch of other small things. A minor perk, but one I appreciate, is the free subscription to a bunch of online things like the Oxford English Dictionary. I can get some software at amazing discounts (Windows, Office, Adobe, etc.). A couple of times my school's turned out to have a deal with my cell phone service so I get a small discount monthly. Oh, and you never know what a school might throw out that's worth keeping...

Thank you for words of encouragement. Sometimes I feel like I don't even have enough power to do anything productive and even check websites with job offers but fortunatelly I'm still able to overcome this feeling and keep trying.

I know its really discouraging. I've been unemployed before, and then more recently, felt like I was stuck in a dead-end job. You've just got to take what you can get to get things back on track, and just keep moving forward. You'll get it figured out. :)

I sure hope I will :) It might sound funny but in moments of weakness I like to listen soundtrack from Rocky :P
But seriously, again thank you for your kind words. I hope I will find something soon.

When people find out what I do for a living they're more comfortable asking me for help. It's usually little stuff but making other people feel safe is a pretty nice job perk.

i work from home for companies and freelancing, so despite working more than 8h/day i can mostly do whatever i want.
some perks: i don't waste time travelling from one place to another, i can eat and work at the same time, no one at my side bothering me xD, i can play any kind of music or just keep quiet, weird working/sleep hours (sometimes i start working at 3am and go to sleep at noon), and most important of all... working with no pants :3.

I can browse SG as much as I want and only occasionally get scolded for it. :)

I worked once at a job where we were given 30 minutes a day to play PC games during work hours. We also had a budget for buying them.

We can drink as much mineral water (fizzy / normal), coffee, milk (including hot chocolate) as we want for free.

We also get a mobile phone, that we may use for private stuff and there's no restriction on the apps that we may install.
