My guess is history. How long you've had your account. How many items you've sold, etc. Check the FAQ?

Meh, it would be better to get a crowbar.
Buy a crowbar, open crate with it, get a crowbar inside.

The market allows people to sell at a maximum of 400 of their currency, so 400 euros or 400 pounds is the max for those in europe, but on your market it shows the history in dollars.

I bet it has something to do with currency. Knowing Steam and its 1$=1€ thing, I guess the limit is also €400 and that's why you see that history.
Edit: great, seems like someone said this 7 minutes ago and I didnt notice, genius.

Everyknife is MADE expensive by the SELLERS... They have almost no worth actually, but valve is really clever and knows how to use people like OP.

Not really. Buyers and the amount of items available is what the market price made of. Most common knives goes for 50-60$ and rare knives sells for 400$ instantly (but most of the time they are not available as people have offers more than 400$ for them and sell them for keys and other stuff that is worth 400$ market limit.)

I tried putting 4000 for a card.
It says the max price limit is 304 €.

seriously anyone would have to be fuking retarded to pay that much to begin with for a "skin / virtual knife or wat the fuck it is" .. so lame.. and even lamer ripping people off asking that much money for something that cost you what a key and a crate's worth .. 2-3 dollars. and ppl call trading scammers scammers..

as opposed to some of the other crap people spend money, i dont understand why football clubs spend millions on player wages but its their right to as its their money and i dont blame any player abusing the idiocy to get rich in the short time theyll get paid for playing football, it still baffles me though, so long as we live in a world where greed is good smart people will abuse other peoples greed for their own profit

I saw WoW promotions with number limit for unique mounts, companions, etc, ppl bought some rocket mounts with 2 seats, and other stuff for up to 300$, ppl buy Minecraft Minecon capes for more than 300$, some MMORPG items can be sold for even more than 1000$, and there is ppl buying it XD. My friend sold his Metin 2 account(a game we played when we were 12 years old) for 50€, but he spent more than 500€ to in game currency to this account, because his father always gave him money.
example: link 13 bids and price is 485$

aren't purely digital products excluded from ebay?
or did they change that policy?

This thread from reddit scared me xd, this guy click sold his 400$ knife for 5 cents in the market, cuz of Steam error.
Also, how to see steam market history if you don't have the item and this item is not selling in the moment? With Steam Enhanced Addon says "No results found"

u see 480$-500$ on steam history market because the buyer pays more then u want...for example: if i put an item for 0.10$ the buyer will pay 0.12$...so it's a market bisness u saw there...the buyer will pay over 400$ so it wasn't a better price put on that item.
