What exactly does it do

A lot of users check Rachel's bundle threads for the info she offers in her charts. This script enhances the charts by showing you which games you already own from the ones in it. If you own it, the row will be highlighted with a green color. If it's a package and the script is unable to check you own every game/dlc in the package, but can confirm at least one or more, the row will be highlighted with an orange color, meaning that you have at least one item in the package and that you could possibly own them all but the script was unable to verify it because Steam didn't return that information. The script also highlights now if a certain game is on your wishlist or if your marked it as ignored on Steam if you have the checkbox for the store method in the interface activated.

In case you are using Mullins' Dark Theme or Dark Blue Theme or SquishedPotatoe's Dark Theme there are some checkboxes you can click in the interface to use better-suited colors for those themes. If you change it, the valid rows will still show as green, only a little darker. And the "maybe-valid" rows will show as a gray/dark blue or a red/orange color depending on the checkbox you click. For more information about the interface check the How to use it section below.

Download

To use it you need either Tampermonkey in Chrome, Greasemonkey in Firefox or Violentmonkey in Opera.
If you already have it, it should be as easy as to click here and the code should appear in your Tampermonkey or Greasemonkey asking you if you want to install it. It should also update automatically.

How to use it

Some useful images and gifs that can help you with this are below as links and as attached images.

  1. You need to request an API key from Steam. This can be easily done from their own website. You just need to log in to your account, write a domain (can be whatever you want as long as it's not taken already) and click the request button. Your key will be shown immediately after that.
  2. You need to get your Steam ID64. If you haven't set a custom link for your account then you just have to go to your Steam profile and your link will look something like http://www.steamcommunity.com/profile/76561198058891020. You just need to take that long number at the end. If you set a custom link, you'll have to use some website or service that shows you the Steam ID64. SteamRep does this, you paste in your custom link and it will give you back the Steam ID64 among other things.
  3. Copy those two things and click on the arrow of the Discussions box at the header. You will see there is a new row called RaChart™ Enhancer. Click it and you'll enter the options for the script. Simply submit the Steam ID64 and Steam API key.

Those are the basics. In case you are using some of the userstyles for SG, you must know that this script supports three of them, both Dark and Dark Blue styles from Mullins' and also SquishedPotatoe's Dark style. This means that the color set will change to provide better-suited colors using that skin. To activate any of those different color sets you must check the checkbox for it in the interface. If you are not sure of how, check some of images and gifs below.

You can also set your own colors. To set your own colors just click on the bars and the color picker should show up.

Useful links, images and gifs:

On the first comment you can find the Known Issues, ToDo List and Changelog sections. On the first reply to that comment you can find the FAQ, please, do read it if you have any problem, as it could help me a lot when giving you support. Also, do you want to know what other scripts there are for SG and who made them? If so then take a look at the SG Add-Ons Registry!

The images and gifs will also be linked at the bottom, even though SG will probably make them smaller in the attached version.
REQUEST AN API KEY FROM STEAM: This is necessary, check the first step.
GET STEAM ID64 FROM STEAMREP: This is also necessary in case you changed your default profile link to a customURL, check step two.
OPEN THE RACHART™ INTERFACE: This is necessary as well to set the Steam API key and Steam ID64, check step three for more info.

Question about the ratings...

I've notice that all game ratings displayed in RaCharts are always higher than the actual % rating on Steam.
Why are the values rated higher in the charts than on Steam? Are the values being pulled from other more genrous sources?
Minor annoyance as I can do the quick math as I go...

But yeah any game I see with say 80% positive rating in RaChart I now know will be in the high 60s or low 70s on Steam.

Thanks for this FANTASTIC tool. :) :)

You mean RaCharts being done by my program? Not sure the one written in JavaScript works the same way.

Basically, for mine, it also counts key activations, which Steam by default doesn't and you have to go and click a few options to get it on the reviews options box.

A bunch of people want more link choices in the first table cell, and matching SteamDB apps n subs wouldn't be bad, so I sent you https://github.com/Sighery/RaChart/pull/4 ^^;

I really don't like the idea of multiple links on a single cell. Mostly because they could put two links to different apps on the store, the first hidden, and the second being the one visible, and the script would highlight the row in case you had the first, but the user would think it refers to the second when it doesn't.

You could solve that by checking only visible links, but then it defeats the purpose of what I believe you guys want to do? Not sure, but I don't like multiple links, specially not hidden. A row should refer to a single game, with a single link. I'm in favour of supporting SteamDB links, though.

If you are really trusting your users to not try and fuck your program up... Well, good luck coming back to your code constantly to fix exploits people find to break it. I'd much rather make it non-exploitable from the beginning, rather than trust the users not to break it.

A row should refer to a single game, with a single link

In the Strategy Simulator Bundle we have the case of Train Simulator 2017.

Here we need to link to the sub. If we link to the bundled sub 219473, clicking the sub goes to the Steam frontpage. If we, as done in the thread, link to the now-retired Store Sub 123500 that is equivalent, store buyers see it as owned while bundle buyers don't. Ideally we'd have an "OR" of multiple equivalent subs in one line for this case, so that all owners of this content see it as owned :D
(the Store Sub was replaced by TS 2018 7 days ago, so linking to it only provided useful while the bundle was ongoing...)

A small example from the recent Humble Care Package Bundle:

Game Ratings Cards Bundled Retail Price CV
Machinarium Collector's Edition (store link) 94% of 2,530 reviews 0 $11.98 Base game only: 1.5; Soundtrack only: 4.99

In another case, the Steam Store only has a equivalent Store Bundle. Then also(!) linking to the Store Bundle (without an ownership check) avoids people being upset that they can't see what game it is, but we still want the first link to be the game sub to allow RaChart matching.

A third option is package contents that do not exist on the store at all - there linking to the base game on the Steam Store would be nice, but should not get matched to colour the whole row green. The old orange might do?

Linking solely to SteamDB is not an option that people seem to like, since they much rather prefer having a link to the Steam Store where they immediately see the game.

(As matching logic, if multiple subs are found, treat them as OR. If apps appear after subs, ignore them.... (or colour orange if not green yet))

Here you can see how people would like this to be:

The best option I can think of is allowing multiple links, searching for the first valid one, and using that one to check. Bundle links aren't supposed and as far as I know there's no kind of API to check them at all, so not an option to use.

As for checking validity, it will require the link to either be a Steam store app, or sub, or equivalent SteamDB link, and for it not to be hidden.

Not going to bother with multiple OR checks as of now. Mainly because there's no good way to tell the user which one was the valid one (other than maybe highlighting the link itself so they know), and because the chart creator could just paste in two different links that have nothing to do with each other at all.

Don't know when I'll get to it. Maybe next weekend.

That's a different error type caused because someone in this thread posted a link to a Steam package that doesn't exist. Fixed with v0.30.4

Apparently both the bug reported by Sh4dowKill and this were related. Ignored apps are the last thing to be checked, only after apps/packages owned and wishlist, so it would reach the ignored apps check and would cause it to crash since the format for them changed.

I need to test a few other things with Firefox and GreaseMonkey but that should be it for bugfixes, hopefully. I thought of a few interesting features to add to the script yesterday so I'll see if I can get it done by today.

So, updated to v0.40.0. Pretty cool update if you ask me. You can check the commit history here if you wish.

Basically, it adds experimental detection of Steam bundle links. So now it will try to figure out what apps and/or packages a bundle is part of, and work similarly to how normal packages (subs) work right now, only that it can only be owned or partially owned, there's no ignore for bundles. That being said, this requires requesting and parsing the HTML pages for each bundle, since there's no API methods unlike with apps and packages. This means that the first time it's requested, it will take a bit longer to highlight stuff, after that it will be stored in cache for a day. It also means that it's more prone to error, but as far as I tested it's fairly stable, and if it fails it will just ignore it, meaning everything else should keep working just fine regardless.

Bundle detection will work regardless of if using the old API method, or the store method. That being said, as usual, the store method is more reliable, it shows most owned packages and DLCs, unlike the API, so it will provide a more reliable check for bundles. But even if it's disabled, bundle detection will still work with the old API, it will just not be as reliable.

So... I need testers. Done a bit of testing and it should fine. You can just wait a day or so until it updates automatically, or try to update manually. Regardless, let me know if you find any bugs.

Attached an image of how it works. Red highlight on links will be when the link is non-existent and/or invalid. In this case, both the Portal Bundle and the Valve Complete Pack are bundles. Rest are either subs and apps.

Wishlisted games are not highlighted; only one is highlighted if i use store method

I tried wishlisting two games in that page, and it worked just fine with the store method enabled. Please note that wishlist and ignored only works with the store method, since they aren't displayed in the normal API.

add a check pls

As you see, on v0.40.0 it's displayed as a warning, and the sub or app or bundle in particular will have a red highlight on the link to indicate it's invalid/non-existant. SteamDB acts as a history of Steam, storing all the packages there ever was, but Steam just removes them, and after it removes them it just redirects you to the main page. Since SteamDB offers no API, even if I enable being able to use SteamDB links in tables for matching purposes, it still requests the data from Steam, and if Steam says it's non-existent then the script reports so, even if it existed in the past, it does no more so it can't get the necessary data to see if you own it.

I'm gonna need more information than just "it keeps crashing". Especially what do you mean exactly by "crashing". Where. How. Your script version. Any other scripts you might be running that conflict. And any output you get from the console (F12 in Chrome).

Sorry, I meant to write not working instead of 'crashing'

I get an error message in the bottom right corner that it could not fetch my owned games, even though in the settings I haven't changed anything, and as a result the charts aren't highlighted. I have Adblock Plus (no difference when I deactivate it), a Last.fm extension, and two more scripts - SGTags and one for The New York Times (both are working fine).

Seems to me it's the API or Steam ID that's causing the problem, but can't be sure

Use Tampermonkey instead. With the FF Quantum update Greasemonkey devs just decided to rename everything for who knows why, and I can't be bothered to fix it just for them when Tampermonkey is just simply much better, on many more platforms. For instance, Tampermonkey is much more active, for one, has more features, also checks for updates daily, rather than weekly, has a nicer configurable editor, and overall is nicer to use, among other things.

I think I know what it might be. But I don't get those errors. Regardless, try replacing lines 66-67-68, which should look like this:

if (bStoreMethod !== undefined && bStoreMethod !== null) bStoreMethod = true;
var bBundleRequests = localStorage.getItem('RCE-BundleRequests');
if (bBundleRequests !== undefined && bBundleRequests !== null) bBundleRequests = true;

To this:

if (bStoreMethod !== undefined && bStoreMethod !== null) {bStoreMethod = true;}
var bBundleRequests = localStorage.getItem('RCE-BundleRequests');
if (bBundleRequests !== undefined && bBundleRequests !== null) {bBundleRequests = true;}

And let me know if that fixes it. If it does I'll release a new update so it rolls out for everyone.

I cleaned cache and cookies from my browser and it also cleaned the script. This wouldn't be much problem if... the script didn't stop working for no reason.

I know which other script is causing this, but it worked with this addon before that moment too. I use ESGST script to show me tags for giveaways (like wishlist, cards, DLC etc). It worked earlier but for some reason it doesn't work with that script now.

Do You know how can I make it work? Cause I need both them. I don't want to stop using any.

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Also, console doesn't show any errors. I can see RaChart's Enhancer in Discussion menu, can set everything and it works. Just it doesn't show the colors on the tables. When I turn ESGST script, it magically starts working. Even though it worked before when I had it turned on.

EDIT2: I found the error now. I thought it's unrelated, but when I turn of ESGST it doesn't show. The console just says that:

"Refused to apply style from 'https://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/5e4MD/humble-bundle-yogscast-jingle-jam-2018-dec-4th-games-unlocked' because its MIME type ('text/html') is not a supported stylesheet MIME type, and strict MIME checking is enabled."

I'm in the middle of a move so I'm afraid I can't be of much help. I don't even have my computer available at the moment, it's packed as well. That being said, try first reinstalling this script, in case you were using an older version, and then after configuring it try messing around with the load order and see if that changes anything, putting the Enhancer before or after ESGST and see if that helps. Once I move and get my computer set up I might be able to take a look, but no promises.

Now something really weird happened. I tried to re-order scripts on Tampermonkey, but nothing happened. The list of scripts was still in the same executive order when I clicked the icon (while in the option they were completley different). I accidentally clicked link to my Yogscast Bundle keys and noticed I got CardLife. So I activated it... now this is the only game it's shown on RaChart's Enhancer as owned. Any other games doesn't have any background from the script. That's weird.

I know. But I really doubt this is the case here. Also I make it work somehow. But the very weird thing here is, that when I activated CardLife, it was shown on not-working RaChart's Enhancer. But when I activated today games from the very same Yogscast bundle, it doesn't. But I made RaChart's running after document-body in settings of the script in TamperMonkey. This works. However I stll don't get why RC + ESGST combo doesn't work for any game but CardLife. When I turned ESGST off, every game worked perfectly. But now, it works just fine. However I would say it's more of evading the real issue here, instead of fixing it. I still don't get why it acts like this, especially if it worked before.

3 months ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I actually don't get why it worked before. I looked into RaChart's code and it does not work if the cell that contains the game link has more than 1 element, and since ESGST inserts elements in the cell, it will not work.

The only way I see it working is if RaChart runs before ESGST, in which case ESGST will not have inserted the elements yet.

It probably shows up for CardLife because it doesn't have any categories?

3 months ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Problem is, when I own a game, it shows "owned" category, so it's not the case. I really don't understand that. Basically why only CardLife works. It didn't work when I had it in wishlist. Didn't show wishlisted color. But once I activated it, it showed owned color. Also only that game did. Any other possible game from any other tables didn't. No matter if it had cards or not.

Seems to work just fine for me. Are you using the latest version of the script? Should be v0.40.0. As for seeing wishlist items, you need the store method checked, since wishlist things are only available through that.

Also seems like in your log there's no warning which should show up with the latest version, about one of the links being invalid, so maybe you are indeed, somehow, running an old version, not sure.

BTW, "turn off tracking for this site" did not fix it, regardless of the option's name. ;-)

PS: Documentation for future issues of people.

With further work, I was able to block all 3rd party cookies. I merely had to figure out how to make (and make) an exception for cookies from SG. This seems to have done the trick. If this message goes through, it will confirm that this worked.

The matter of the extension auto-updating (but the browser manually updating), is still a question.
