Bought a key on G2A.com (I know, my fault...), it was a dupe (key already used), contacted the seller (no response), filed a ticket (claim) under G2A's "Money Back Guarantee" - and what did they answer?

I need to report the "fraud" (maybe it was just a mistake?) committed by the seller to the local police or my claim will be denied. I should use the information from the receipt to identify the seller. The "bill" contains "seller ID: b6693a9f-301f-4609" as the only information about the seller.

Are they serious? This is just a "fuc* you" answer that they are not even thinking about refunding my money and don't care about their promise:

When does Money Back Guarantee apply?
If a digital item you purchased on G2A.COM is not as described, doesn’t work or has been removed from your account, you will receive a refund.

I read that G2A is a shady company from other complaints, but now I have experienced it myself. Here is their "reply" to my claim. What do you think?
My next step will be to bring this to our customer rights protection organisation, they love to sue companies over their unlawful EULAs.

#########################################

Dear User,

Thank you for applying to the Money Back Guarantee program!

Its purpose is to help G2A.COM users get their money back if a product they bought isn’t as described, doesn’t work or stops working and a compromise with the seller could not be reached. You can learn more at https://supporthub.g2a.com/marketplace/en/money-back-guarantee and in our terms and conditions: https://www.g2a.com/terms-and-conditions, point 6.23.

Before we move forward with your application, two steps are necessary:

1. First, you need to report the fraud committed by the seller to the local police or other appropriate authority in your area.
2. Next, send us a scan of the official document confirming a report was filed. The document should include:

• Your first and last name
• The price of the product
• The name of the product
• The seller's data (such a first and last name, address, user ID, nickname etc., anything that helps the police identify the seller). All this data can be found in the receipt for the order: https://www.g2a.com/sales/order/history
• Official stamps confirming the authenticity of the report

Without such a document, your application will have to be declined.

We are waiting for your reply.

With best regards,
G2A Team

g2a is trash, if you get anything back from them it's either a miracle or because you did a chargeback.

But while we're on the subject, I wonder what would happen if, oh, say several hundred people all bought a bunch of games from g2a then all of them did a chargeback.

Not that I'm suggesting it because that would be wrong. It would just be pretty funny if it did happen.

If mass chargebacks are done to the same company in a short period of time the company will face some serious consequences that i cant remember for sure right now.

I had the same problem, and they called similar message with the "police" blabla.
That was month ago. Was just a game from bundle, but that was the last time, that I used this shady site.
And all user should buy on official reseller or Groupbuy, that's 99% the safer and cheaper way.

DON'T support g2a and other shady sites!!

It is shady, and G2A is just not a good place in general. But they have indeed already thought about this, as in the terms and conditions, which you have to accept to use the site, this is an extract from section 6.23 'Money-Back Guarantee':

I have highlighted one of the shady parts (although there are many 'shady' parts in their terms and conditions)

c) To receive a refund under Money Back Guarantee program, the User shall provide G2A.COM with:

  • a claim concerning the product sold by the Seller or the Selling User on the Site where he/she is obligated to include User’s data, order information and description of fault product („Claim”); the Claim shall be submitted under the Claim form available on the Site, and the information provided therein shall be true, reliable and complete; and
  • a document confirming (1) the submission of notification to or (2) beginning of investigation by competent government authority (determined by the country where purchase has been made) regarding the Claimed product detrimental to the User; at G2A.COM’s sole discretion, the User may be bound to provide G2A.COM with an official decision related to initiation by the government authority an investigation or legal procedure along with a case reference number assigned by the government authority; the relevant confirmation shall be delivered, at G2A.COM absolute discretion, in an original hard copy sent to the address set forth in provision 6.23 o) herein, or as a scan and attached to the Claim form.

So all in all, G2A is just a really shady website. Although it can have very low prices I would never go near them, since the low prices are usually caused by shady key sources, purchased with stolen credit cards, etc.

I hope that you didn't spend too much money on the purchase, but best of luck with all the reports and getting your money back.

Got an activation date from Steam support. the key was activated on 2016-10-12. lets see what G2A will reply to this...

btw, it was a $10 key for a game which was no longer available on Steam. i would not have bought something at G2A otherwise...

My bet is that they will just change their requirement to having to provide a complete tachyon scan of your body from CERN to prove that you didn't travel back in time with the key to activate it in 2016.

Ok I swear, this has to be the worst I have heard G2A ever being. I never trusted them in the first place, but now I will never ever use their system again. It sucks you got scammed twice, brother. That is the most annoying and emotional kick in the balls ever.

When you have to pay extra for 'protection' in using their service, and it rechecks the box to 'subscribe' to said 'protection' between various steps of the purchase process, it's a pretty huge red flag.

The one time I got a dupe key from G2A, they actually gave me a refund. Glad I stopped using them before they went super crazy

Now they are completely ignoring that the key was activated 3 years ago and still want me to go to the police, although they said they do not know who the seller was, they only have his nick on file...

Thank you for keeping us posted.

Unfortunately, we have to insist on providing us with the mentioned documentation. Without it, we have simply no authority to interact with your case and take any further actions. Please let us remind you that G2A.COM is a global marketplace, not the direct seller, therefore in order to take certain actions, we need to be supplied with the stated data, confirming the fraud attempt. You're free to decide whether the report will be submitted in your local Police station or through any other adequate authority dealing with such matters.

Be noted that all details were mentioned and accepted before initiating Money Back Guarantee application.

Without the said report, we’ll be forced to reject your application and close this case.

Pick one

But it is clear example of why we don't want G2A, Kinguin or others to be mentioned here in the deals section. When something is wrong with HB or Indiegala key they will try to help you (or name you re-seller like HB likes to do recently :eyes:). If something is wrong with gray market, they can throw this response "we have nothing to do with transaction, get lost" and be happy about themselves.

Several times i got duplicates etc and g2a always refunded me, now i had a seller giving me a key for SUBterrain instead of subterraneus and they also tell me to go to the police over a 5 euro game.

I take back what i said before about them, and will just kinguin more and more.

Just buy from legit stores instead of the black market, solves most problems. Or even for free from Steam, that always beats spending real money.

There are reasons why people go there.. And absolutely nothing wrong with Kinguin, i still stand by them.

They are called gray markets. Think is because the developers didn't agree and/or approve to sell their games using these stores.

And their scams are called guarantees. But they still are scams and black markets under that facade.
