Update
Vampyr and Oxygen Not Included have been added to the Epic Games Store.

An honest question that keeps lingering in my mind for quite some time: Why are you doing this?
In my opinion it is totally fine to talk about Epic and their store, what games left Steam for Epic, what games are time exlusives, what consequences it has or will have for the PC gaming community, their business practices, what game is free atm, Tencents involvement and so on. There is certain need for this information, no doubt about that.
On the other hand I find it strange that this is more of a news thread that gets updated whenever someting new is rolled out or whenever a new game is available to buy at Epic Store. This is kinda advertisement for their store.
I mean, I don't see any thread that is updated whenever there is a new game released at Steam or Origin or Uplay or GOG or Itch or whatever. I don't see any thread that is updated when all the other clients roll out something new. And I don't think we need those threads, don't get me wrong. The forum is fine without them.
So why are you doing this specifically for the Epic Store?

When I first started the thread I was curious about what was going on with the Epic Games Store and I posted some info about a couple of the games departing Steam to head over to the Epic Games Store. Then I kept seeing new threads being created for the EGS and thought if I just kept updating here then hopefully we wouldn't keep seeing new threads popping up. I'm interested in what game developers and publishers are bringing their games onto the Epic Games Store for various reasons and I think other members of the SG community feel the same way so I see something new I post the information.

Thank you for your answer.
I still don't like to see "normal" updates about new games being added to the store or new additions being rolled out because in my eyes it is advertisement.
BUT it is not my forum and if other SG members want to see this kind of information it is my liberty to just don't click on this thread.

I just noticed that the latest update of the Epic Games launcher asks whether I want to "find friends on other platforms to play with" -- then shows a Steam login button. Looks like they are trying to help Steam users who are already friends on Steam find each other on Epic Games.

Oh wow, yeah the new software update now allows you to find friends on Steam, Facebook or add someone by email.
Thanks for posting Tidhros. I'll update the thread.

He shows us his love in so many ways, for example, do you remember when he tried to sell us paid mods... wait... oh no ◔_◔

I'm kinda confused by your comment just cause you've only responded to the thread and no one else on it but me. Then you posted the comment on your own comment. Who?

So if it was in Deals, you wouldn't have a problem with it?

It's actually a rather neutral thread to inform people about a new launcher - and a new launcher that challenges Steam is actually quite interesting to a lot of people. I guess you are so used to seeing only very negative, hateful threads about the EGS that any neutral information automatically seems like advertisement to you. ;)

I think this thread is quite interesting. Just to know which games won't be on steam and which ones will be time exclusive. Don't see this as advertise for epic, more like information for interested gamers. Keep on with your work, I like it.

Will epic store turn into a social network/forums like Steam?
That's the only (and most important) missing feature on every single DRM.

Sometimes 12% is too low and additional fees are required.

I just dont know why i hate the Epic Store that much! Maybe its because the hate toward Fornite, maybe its the fact that they are stealing game from Steam, or maybe because it has something that related to Tencents ? I just have no idea, just not my cup of tea!

Phoenix Point will be an Epic Games Store exclusive for one year - https://www.vg247.com/2019/03/12/phoenix-point-epic-games-store-exclusive-one-year/

What part of "saw it online and just linked the picture" is not clear? I had no idea the person I linked from cut off anything, or who the original author is.
Sure if you know it and can correct the info, that's great, but why would you assume that I cut the credits when I specifically mentioned that I saw it elsewhere (on a regional forum, if you must know - and tbh, I'm pretty sure the person who posted it there also posted it from somewhere else and didn't cut off the credits themselves).

Solar Ash Kingdom, the new game by the Hyper Light Drifter devs will be coming to the Epic Store: https://www.ign.com/articles/2019/03/13/solar-ash-kingdom-hyper-light-drifter-devs-reveal-new-game
There's no explicit mention that the game will actually be exclusive to the Epic store, but there's no mention of any other store availability either, and the publisher Annapurna already has two other Epic exclusives in Ashen and Outer Wilds, so it's probably a safe bet that it will be indeed a (timed) exclusive.

Here's an interesting fact that came out of the latest Epic store exclusive:
Given that Phoenix Point's official Community Manager for the game said:
If we had to refund 100% of currently pre-orders, we'd still be in the black.
...it's for a minimum guarantee - which means Epic will guarantee that we will sell X number of copies. Even if we don't hit that number, they still pay us.
...Reddit has contrasted these statements with pre-order & fundraising totals to ascertain that one-year exclusivity on the Epic Store is worth at least $2 milllion USD.

The interesting part is about the backers for the game.
They were promised a Steam or GOG key for the game, and are now getting an Epic key and have to wait a year to get the other.
Now, any backer who doesn't approve of Epic's business practices (or simply want the game on another platform) is either forced to use EGS or wait a year for a game they helped back financially (to the tune of over $700,000).
Edit: It's definitely worth reading through all the comments in that link, if for no other reason than additional information.

You are correct - 25% at $10 million USD or 20% at $50 million includes game packages, DLC, in-game sales, and Community Marketplace game fees.

zero fucks given about phoenix point but i did care about satisfactory.
but if they don't like the cash from my steam wallet then so be it.

HB has now partnered with EGS as announced at GDC.
Comment has been collapsed.
Probably the best thing they could do. As 99% bundle buyer and all bundles being Steam I am tied to Steam. Still waiting for a GOG key since 2016 or so. If they get an Epic Humble bundle out there's more likelihood to get users than overpriced full price games.
Because, really, how many of us buy from the actual Steamstore?
Comment has been collapsed.
Partnering with HB doesn't mean that any of those games will end up bundled.
It simply means that Epic keys will be sold on Humble Bundle.
Given that Epic's whole premise is "more money for pubs/devs", it seems counter-productive to strike a deal with HB only to bundle those games, so don't hold your breath.
Comment has been collapsed.
Allow me to reiterate/rephrase.
It would make zero sense for Epic to claim to be supporting devs/publishers with a larger cut, and then devalue their games entirely by bundling them. It's much more likely the deal was struck so that the games could be sold on the Humble Store.
And yes, it's entirely counter-productive to what Epic is claiming for them to make a deal with Humble to sell bundles.
Comment has been collapsed.
But wouldn't be giving them away free entirely be much worse than bundling for devaluing? And they do that each 2 weeks for a year.
Steam doesn't support keys and bundles for charity. It makes people get stuff of their client, which they get bound to and might make more from. As you can see, that was super-effective.
Would it be that hard to believe Epic may try a similar approach to attaching clients? They're already doing it with the giveaways after all, but actual investment, even a buck, may be more persuasive to install the client.
All PR really. Worked out for Valve.

They were paid by Epic. Common knowledge.

Yes, it would, unless once again Epic foots the bill up front for every copy bundled. It's a possibility, but it stands more to reason they want the games sold on the Humble Store for wider visibility. I believe you're letting wishful thinking get the better of you.
All PR really. Worked out for Valve.
Tell me how it works out for developers, who move to another client to make more money? You think they're going to be in any hurry to bundle those games? The moment you bundle a game, it's no longer worth full price (and is often worth only pennies on the dollar), and people will stop paying full price for it. Kinda defeats the purpose of moving to that shiny new curated store with a higher cut, doesn't it?
Lastly, EGS striking a deal with Humble doesn't have anything to do with bundles anyway. EGS won't be deciding what gets bundled and what doesn't. Only publishers/developers can do that.
Comment has been collapsed.
Still devaluing. And that was the topic.
We'll see. Both would be beneficial. If it's visibility though, again, bundles do that better than their store.
EA, Bethesda, Blizzard never used HB anyway except as Monthly prize. So those who moved rarily used HB and Epic is now in league with them. So that once again counters itself out once more.
Also who says anything about the newest stuff? The free stuff isn't the newest either. More recent than usually for freebies but nobody expects the Division2/Metro Exodus bundle right now.
"Only publishers/developers can do that."
They also decide which store to sell at. And they picked Epic Exclusive. Funny how that worked out, no?

Humble Bundle Partners With Epic Games
Some interesting news out of GDC 2019. Epic is now partnered with HB you can read about it in a brief article here
I'm guessing we will be seeing games for the Epic Store in HB bundles as well as the monthly soon.
