John Gibson: The original mod team working on the UT2004 version was a small and talented group of individuals lead by Alex Quick. Last year Alex approached us to talk about porting the game over to an RO: Ostfront mod and potentially getting the mod up on Steam for free as we have done with some of our other mods. When we checked the mod out we were really surprised at just how fun it was to play.

We quickly realized the mod was very close to being good enough to be a commercial product. Taking the example that Valve has set with CS, DOD, and Portal, we decided to take the mod team under our wing and work with them to create a highly polished commercial version of Killing Floor. TripWire Interactive bought the rights to the game and is working together with the core KF mod team to make this happen. It is actually really exciting for us to help another mod team realize their dream of taking their game commercial, as that is how we got our start. And the KF team will also get a share of the profits from the game.
