Are you using Windows 10?

After I updated to the Spring Creator's Content (1803), my HD Audio Drivers were all messed up.. sound was super quiet.

After searching on the internet, I found I could pull updated drivers direct from the Windows Update website here -

Microsoft Update Catalog

Oh, if it was super quiet, it only needed loudness equalisation: https://www.guidingtech.com/29438/boost-windows-audio/

actually that is not true for many many people, myself included - a quick search of the internet shows people with quiet sound issues that is not fixed with the loudness equalization tick box - myself and one of my inlaws computers included (we already tried the ticking and unticking of that little box with no success many times, with reboots, without, upside down :P) - in the end I resorted to uninstalling the realtek drivers and then deleting all sound entries in the windows system tab and just allowed windows to install its own drivers instead of the realtek ones on reboot - this sorted out the sound issue on both computers for us and the sound returned to normal - I so wanted the sound equalization thing to work though, after weeks of searching for a cure :P.

i reinstalled the latest realtek drivers I could find online, then updated them manually from Device manager, with the drivers from my microsoft update catalog download (you'll need to extract the .cab file with a program such as WinRar)

I'm on 6.0.1.8158 from 5/16/2017. But it looks like there are newer ones from 7/26/2017 here: http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsview.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=14&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false

Microsoft also seems to have their own drivers, with the latest being 6.0.1.8437 from 4/30/2018 here: https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=VEN_10EC%26DEV_0662
I haven't tried those, so I'm not sure how they'll work or compare.

To add, the second link for 64 bit is just the driver stuff. The one below the readme file includes software.

Are you drivers not working correctly? Is there something wrong with your audio output? If not you shouldn't mess with it, sometimes driver updates are not well optimized and could slow down your system. I'm talking from experience here.

I've had problems with Realtek drivers and Windows 10. So I've completely uninstalled Realtek and now am using default Microsoft driver bullshit and suprisingly it works well.
