Why does everyone say "Thanks" in the comments?

Because people are grateful, and the givers who dislike "thanks" spam in their giveaways are outnumbered by those who appreciate it. :p

You can read tons of views on this on the 903849384938 threads already on the topic if you use the search bar.
Since you asked, I'll ask myself : Why does everyone make a new thread about these stuff?

OT, because the gifter gives you a chance at the game. Because some even put thought into what gift they are going to give. Because the gifter spend time, effort and money into sharing something with some strangers on the internet. Because it makes some gifters fuzzy inside. Because they give you your points. Because why not?

Why would you say thanks in general?

Because it's considered courteous to thank someone for giving away stuff of their own goodwill.

It's kinda obvious, innit? Typing a mere "thank you" is just a small effort, but it's an effort all the same, an effort made in gratitude for the game bought by a stranger! This is the internet, bad manners and trolls galore, if people like to thank, let them, it's a shiny little light of hope to show not everything's lost, and people can still be polite, my boy.

If you ever do a giveaway in the future, as I hope you'll do, you'll enjoy being thanked by the people, ah you will. Because there's nothing worse on this site than giving a game bought with your hard-earned money to a faceless, thankless individual who'll just quickly grab the gift and disappear without saying a word, right?

Every now and then, newcomers will post this sort of thread. Of course those are grateful people.

If you're saying thanks in order to up your chances of winning because of Karma, you're acting from a very egoistical place indeed.

First i thought you had a better chance to win if you wrote "Thanks", but nowadays i write them more like "Thanks you so much for this giveaway :D" or something like "Wow, Thanks you are very kind ive always wanted this game"

The answer is plain and simple. Most people are lazy and some aren't.

No, I'm sure they're not grateful at all that someone took money from their own pocket so they could give away the gamefor free. I'm sure all those "Thanks." are just some sort of a sick joke. jfc

In every "thanks" that I say I have put a piece of my heart :3 I have said "thanks" over one thousand times and now my heart very small :C

When people give free games i usually say, keep it to you we don't want it here and they realize how grateful i feel when they make giveaways.
