Just trying to get us bundle junkies to install Origin, I think... :)

And like everyone already said, base game in the bundle, extra stuff only in the store is nothing new... :)

Would buy it for ME2 if it would be in 1$ category.
Now the bundle is not worth the money.

I'm okay with Desura, I don't want DRM-free or Origin :(

I've been spending almost as much time playing Desura games as I've been spending on Steam games lately.

Largely because there are some good games on Desura that appear to be permanently stuck in the tar pit of Greenlight.

Desura has some pretty good stuff. It's the one place where indie devs can quickly and easily distribute their games.

UNLOCKS 2ND WEEK

Great, it's a game that unlocks the second week!

Anyway, this bundle sucks.

I got mass effect 2 with the whole origin coupon mess, lol.

I'm wondering how they convinced EA to put mass effect 2 in this bundle.

You don't think someone at EA thought of this? They can't sell us anything on origin unless we install origin. First hit is free, man... :)

But.. they're devaluing their IPs!!!!

Umm can IP has negative value? ;D

Consider that Mass Effect 2 was given out free to everyone that owned Dragon Age II, so it's already devalued to absolutely nothing.

People bought DA2? Those poor souls :p

Yeah, the money Mass Effect 2 can still make is probably tied up in its ton of DLC. EA gives the game away for free, gets more people to install Origin, and potentially sells more ME2 DLC (which is more expensive than the game itself).

Actually they're advertising it. EA isn't stupid, they want to make as much people as possible aware of their platform and using it, in the hope they will buy more games from them. Same was with the $20 off code fiasco, and I actually wonder how well it is going for them. I think I read somewhere they had 30 million registered users so far, which is a pretty huge number, considering steam is far older and has about 50.

Note that everyone who was registered on their old system was automatically transferred to Origin too. Also they force you to register some of their games there even if you own them on Steam. I technically have an Origin account without ever even looking at their main page because they forced me to register a while back on their old system(and more recently to register Alice: Madness Returns with them even though I have the game on Steam). :/

What Zlia said. EA like to tout that number as if it means something. They should tell us how many people actually start the Origin program more than once a year and how many actually ever spent money there. I imagine the numbers are pitiful.

I agree here without a doubt, but I believe it's meant to be advertising, you can imagine without it people wouldn't even bother to talk about Origin, which is pretty much the case with GFWL already. Also Origin is widely hated among dedicated Steam users, but it is funny if you check the matters outside this community, people are funnily hating upon Steam as well. So my guesses are they have their own mini army now, especially if people came across them from their newer games like Fifas, BF3, ME3 and others and are more or less new to digital downloads. I've heard they have good prices in some regions, so this probably congregates people to their system as well. I personally wouldn't have problem buying games from them, especially if they are EA titles not available at other places and at fair prices, which atm for my country is more than screwed up (1 euro = 1 dollar policy once more, no exceptions). Main reason I'd never buy anything from them directly.

Only thing I'm interested in is Zombie Driver HD + DLC. Definitely not worth the $5 BTA, but I'd be in for ~$1.50 if there's a happy hour group buy.

But I still purchased it anyway.

BTA is already wildly fluctuating. 5.16 -> 5.20 -> 5.05 -> 5.36 -> 5.42 -> 5.52

I wonder if they finally managed to implement a real BTA (before BTA value has been a fixed price that would increase during happy hour)

The Matt Toner Campaign

Last year, gaming entrepeneur Matt Toner decided to help save the legendary Vancouver game industry... by running for politics. And now he is one short step from making that a reality. Revenue raised by this bundle will be used to support his campaign and directly rebuild the Vancouver indie scene.

"Part of the proceeds for this one go to the campaign of Matt Toner, a gaming entrepreneur who's running for office on a platform of driving the creative industries to new heights in Vancouver. This may be part of BioWare's efforts to support him."
