Do we get tax returns on our gifts here or do we have to pay gift tax on them?

No. SG is like the BVI or Cayman Islands, where corrupt people put their money to evade taxes.

Wait... if you win more than $14,000 worth of gifts from an individual person on steamgifts in a calendar year, you might have to files taxes on your winnings in the US.

In the US you actually get less tax if you donate to some organizations!

I believe its true for many countries, But you have to donate for charity. This isn't charity here, since games are luxury.

Hmm, maybe we're donating to people who can't otherwise afford games. Like Child's play but not for kids.

Child's Play is donating games, toys and hardware not to specific children but rather to hospitals, daycare charity-ran organizations etc. So there's a huge difference ;)

Yup, haha. I was trying to spin sg as a charity...Although there are some charities that have set up interfaces for people to donate directly to people in need, like GiveDirectly. But if people started professing how needy they were on the forums then they would get banned for begging...too bad or else cg could have a sweet 503 (c) non profit :P
