Here is my script: https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/8064-steamgifts-open-steam-in-pop-in

I think it could be a good idea to implement something like this by default. Links should remain links, though, to leave it possible to open them in a new tab via middle-click or context menu.

Here is topic about this script in a General section of the forum:

This script is mostly checked with Chrome. It should work fine in Firefox and latest Opera but I'm not sure about IE.

I changed ifrm.style height to 45 and top to 50 to make it easier to click out of. This is awesome, great work. It works perfectly via greasemonkey on firefox, thanks for sharing.

Please check new version of the script.
I've applied fixed padding to frame and implemented a couple of other features too.

Any idea how to tweak this to still work with the steamgifts++ endless scrolling? I can't seem to get it to work past page 1, but your pop-in works a lot better for me than that one. Thanks either way, this has been a really helpful script. I'll keep tinkering.

Well, not sure if I want to. I don't use SG++. Instead of that I'm using Easy SteamGifts with disabled endless scrolling (since "hide same giveaways" button doesn't work there) and my own endless scrolling script which supports "hide same giveaways" button and also hides joined giveaways.

For the grid layout I'm using my own style. It isn't as good as SG++ one but still works for me.

Suddenly I decided to add SG++ auto-paging support. So, try it if you still interested.

I like your script but like Relysis "complained" if it supports the SG++ endless it will be better because SG++ has and absurd amount of great features. ;-)

Install-it and use it for a few minutes if you don't like it you uninstall-it, and be assured it deserves your 2 minutes. ;-)

I have to ask... Why showing SteamDB pages (nothing wrong whit them) instead of official Steam pages?

Originally it was like that, but recently Steam added header which prevents loading their pages inside of a frame. As the result instead of Steam empty page were displayed. You can open an original Steam page in a separate tab by a middle-click, though.

BTW, with original Steam I periodically had an issue with redirect to the front page when Steam page of a game or pack wasn't available in my country. With SteamDB it's possible to look which games are actually in the pack and decide to join it or hide it forever.

Thanks for your explanation it makes sense. And BTW the official SteamDB add-on/extension it's very helpful. :-)
