Just have the "Enter Giveaway" box be a recaptcha. Would allow for much higher win chance for real people.

I'm all for captchas (or recaptchas) and I've been saying it since start of bot-problem discussion, but I don't thing recaptcha on EVERY GA is neccessary, captcha per X GAs should be enough. Let's look at the fact what makes bot so unfair - it's the fact they can continue to enter GAs all the time even if user is AFK, while normal user can only enter GAs when he logs in. If for example captcha wopuld hit every 10 GAs entered it would be much less work for all normal users while still making bots totally useless. Bot would be able to enter 10 GAs in total and nothing mor, it's less than a normal user would be able to enter during normal logging in, thus it would kill any advantage bot users may have and killed any point of using bots at all ;)

bad idea, i dont see the point of it, it will just make life harder for normal users.

beside i dont understand why it bothers you so much there are over 900k users on lvl 0-2 small part of them are bot or script users and you treat the whole 3 lvls as such.

not to mention the lechers argument - you do understand the point of this site is sharing, gifting AND giving (hence the name STEAMGIFTS) not every one is able to give, and wining does not make him a leach.

you wana share and give - go ahead and god bless you :)
you wana restrict your gift - go ahead you can limit the GA for 1-10 , your GA your right.
you wana make certain roles - make a group (ie playing appreciated who requires playing the win within 1 month)

i dont understand the point of this attitude :S

Personally I wouldn't have a problem with a (re)captcha before entering a giveaway but most probably a lot of SG users would see that as restrictive and time consuming.

Also I don't think we have had the big bot purge, yet, that's awaited and expected since the official announcement concerning bots and auto-join scripts.

no one likes auto-joiners, and i don't like having to go through extra steps just because of other users actions

Pass. If for no other reason than Indigala, which I still can't log into because their recatcha box constantly refreshes all the time.
Having an 'Are you human' check if an account is being suspicious, ala entering too fast or something, that I get. But making everyone go through them is a pain.

For me switching to audio captcha helps, unless it's really persistant but then i go from internet explorer to firefox, and it usually works there.

You still haven't switched off IE?! For the love of god just do it already T.T You are the worst nightmare of every web dev :(

More to the point capchas can fuck right off. If this site implements them I am out.

I don't think the 2nd one would ever happen (at least I sure hope it won't) but please use a normal browser anyways, even my grandparents use Chrome :P

I've switched to other browsers to log in and get my free game, but it's not something I would be willing to do often. Hence the dislike for them being persistent. Occasionally ones to check you are mortal I get, having one on every GA. No thanks.

Those kind of threats are like the annoying roommate who doesn't pay rent and steal your food threatening to move out.

Now that the point generation is fixed, I can't see any reason to why it should be implemented.

Again, i really really like if you share the info or the system you used to determine if a entry in a GA is from a bot or a human, you're the 2nd user i see in less than 48hs asking for CAPTCHAS, and again i ask you the same, what info/data you have to made the statement that there're too much "bots" joining to GA in SG.

Are you guys making lobby to sell some captcha system to SG owner?

BTW also why accounts who have a very low activity in the giveaway sections but have several year are insisting in the need to add captchas, this is very suspicius.

SteamGifts recently pushed an email campaign for accounts which haven't visited the site in over 4 years (me included) and when I came back and put up a giveaway there were instantly 40+ entries and 10 "thanks" comments. People don't react that fast.

would be nice, but i hate captcha. Every time you got to do something, you have to click that and waste time

Not sure what the problem with bots is. They are more polite than people, and so I think more deserving.

but captchas are the worst and most annoying invention ever. Id rather opt for something like an email confirmation link or even manually sending in a request by POST than have to deal with captchas.
